Should we try crowdfunding ?

We had developed a software product 4 years ago for individuals and for non-profits. We had customers in 10 countries but it was very difficult to get paid from organizations and so pulled plug on it 2 years ago. Spent a lot of money on developing the product.

Now many people are asking for it to be made available for free. We found some great reviews on our product online as well, from total strangers. We have some copycat products in market with similar features, that came out in last 3 years, but ours was the original.

Can we have a successful crowdfunding campaign to redesign and re-instate the product as cloud/mobile application, with free use for individuals and non-profits and a nominal one-time fee for corporations? Or we can make it advertisement-supported to collect no fee from anyone.

What are the chances of success for such an idea?

We need anywhere from $10K to 25K to relaunch this.

Thanks in advance for any creative suggestions..

You promote a crowdfunding appeal pretty much the same way you promote anything. Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and other venues. I've even seen people here promoting crowdfunding projects. I contributed to one.

You can promote it on here if it benefits a lot of Internet marketers.

Whatever it is, your goal should be to really promote it on social media. One of the main ways to raise 10k it more with any crowd finding campaign is to get it going viral.
