What are the Best Ways to find Aged Domain Names?

7 replies
I'm currently looking to buy an aged domain name.

Do you have any tips on the best way to approach buying domain names?

I'm familiar with Godaddy Auctions and freshdrop.

Can you recommend any sites or methods you use to find ROCKSTAR aged domains?

thanks

    I use many systems to acquire aged domains. Some of them include the following:

    - Reviewing lists of expired and expiring domains;
    - Reviewing domains for sale on forums: NamePros.com, DNForum.com;
    - Contacting webmasters of websites that no longer appear to be maintained;
    - Posting requests on relevant forums;
    - My own systems for finding available domains often turn up unexpected aged domains.

    I tend to avoid buying up aged domains on sites like Sedo and Godaddy auctions, since the sellers typically leave too little meat on the bones with their prices.

    I use Expired Domains with PR, Backlinks and more completely FREE myself.. If you want to see domains that will be deleting in the next few days then create a free account, login and click the Marketplace Domains tab at the top. Next, click the PendingDelete tab and you can use the red 'show filter' link to filter them by drop date, extension, PR, Alexa..etc.

    That will get you the domains deleting in the upcoming days..not ones in auction or for sale. You'll either need to use a backorder company or drop catching software yourself to actually catch and register these domains.

    Yes expireddomains.net will probably give you the best overview about dropped and expiring domains.

    I have found a domain there i was able to sell for about $250 after it dropped, but i think you'll need a clear understanding on what makes a domain valuable, and a big budget to get started. My example was pure luck and you don't get that lucky every day.

    It can be very lucrative, but it's not an easy business that's for sure.

    I'd recommend Flippa & Godaddy's expired domain section where you could find lots of aged expired domains. You also need to look at many other aspects before purchasing the domain like backlinks data, PR, DA, PA, quality of the backlinks etc.
