This is not a "Let me hack up a wordpress site" type of project in my opinion.

This really should go in Help Wanted.

Prepare to get bombarded with PMs. It's wrong for them to do that and if the post was in HW self-promotion issues could be avoided.

I use s2member (free) and Optimizepress.

It takes someone who's familiar with this stuff an hour or so to set up the basics. But like the artist, a whole lot of goofing around is required before reaching that level of expertise. So a few hundred bucks at minimum...content extra.

You also need a header--requiring a graphic designer, and you really do get what you pay for.

Plugins are required for increased security and other options.

The charts you're talking about will require programming...at the very least a Google Docs spreadsheet downloadable in the members area.

I agree with the above posts - if you don't have expertise in that area, look for someone who does and either pass them off or partner there.

Look for a web design/dev company who has done this before (I've worked with: Web Design Company | Professional Website Design - DreamCo Design) who has done this.

Way before Wordpress kind of dominated the Internet, I know someone who had success with this.

Heres my advice:

1. Charge for how much work you have to do to develop the site.

2. No idea about plugins for this type of site. The site I'm talking about didn't have a membership area, it operated by email and picks were sent out dialy. The most common way to do this is to give away free picks to one list and convert them to buyers with a link in your daily picks. If you send out winners you will see conversions. The other most common way is to have charge $1 for the first week or month then roll it over to full price.

The problem with this niche is that the companies that sell stats are extremely expensive if you're looking to do anything out side of the box. There are a lot of places that have box scores and live scoring codes for cheap if you look online. But, depending on what you do it could get expensive.

The good (and bad) news is that most gamblers paying for betting advice online are degenerates. They probably won't follow the stats on your site as they'll be watching live or on ESPN. So, you really need to focus on a certified way to track your picks and show your profit each week/month/season more than anything else.

Back in the day, you could post a game analysis and/or free pick or a link on the Covers forum and come away with a few customers each day. Not sure if they still allow that.
