  • Ben,

If you "reuse" other people's photos, regardless of linking back to the owner, you stand to get into major trouble. Copyright laws do not protect you regardless of how you attribute the photo to the owner. You open yourself up to a very costly law suit for copyright infringement.

There are very specific cases where you can use other people's photos so take some time to learn what is legal and what is not.

  • You can find the location from the search engine. After reaching the site, you need to take a glance on the site images usages terms & condition. There are many site, where there is no copyright issue. Thanks a lot.

  • Pixabay is the best site for free stock photos I've seen yet.
  • Do a search on Google for free images you can use. Reading the Terms of Use before using any photo from a website would be sound advice.

  • Use CC0 images *only*.

CC0 is the only license worth your time; and is the most lenient license allowable by law.

In other words: no shady restrictions that you need a team of lawyers and accountants to go over.

No lame "attributions" required (that are often in the fine-print).

CC0 is the only way to roll. And CC0 images are 100% free.

My favorite (and only) source is pixabay.com.

Beautiful images, no cost, no lame "contract" that requires a physics and law degree to understand.

Never rely on a "Search engine" to find images, even if they have a "filter" to search for "free" commercial images.

The search engine functions are shady at best, downright ridiculous at worst, because any Joe Shmoe can upload an image and claim that they have the rights to it, when in many cases they blatantly do not.

    Use Pixabay.com.

  • You need to use pictures that are Copyright free. There is a site called Fotolia that you can use. Do a Google search for copyright free pictures. Also try Stock photos, royalty-free images, video & music clips - iStock

  • Funny, just this morning was showing someone.

    Then search.
    Then search tools
    Then usage rights.
  • Use Creative Commons but you will have to give credit to Pic takers
  • Do a search for royalty-free images. I've used this site in the past Morguefile.com free stock photos, just make sure to fully read the terms and conditions before using any image that is not your own.

On the mention site they say "You are allowed to copy, distribute, transmit the work and to adapt the work. Attribution is not required. You are prohibited from using this work in a stand alone manner".
  • The source that I use for all my photos related needs is http://www.pexels.com/ they have a huge database of images and all images are under CC0 license (free of any copyright restrictions). Check out Pexels hope it helps you
