The thing that worked the best for me so far was a CB dating product.
I set up a website with wordpress, put up some plugins, added 10-15 quality articles + pictures.

And then played with facebook ads to get the best deals.

I think most people stick to this method simply because we know it works.
I've tried mobile CPA, wasn't a big succes unfortunatly

I've been promoting CPA offers for 15 years.

The bulk of which I promote are PPL (pay per lead) offers because there is no credit card required. So they tend to have a much higher conversion rate, than offers that require a sale. All a user has to do is fill out a form to get paid.

I favor offers that have some financial positioning...have a make, get or save angle to them. These have for the most part worked best for me, as they tend to have greater mass appeal, so the potential to produce high volume exists.

There are a decent amount of offers that pay $20-$60 each and more depending on the vertical, that work good on front-end campaigns. Once I'm at break-even or a profit on a campaign, then I will also run offers on the back-end that pay less, plus those that require a sale.

A few things to keep in mind when running CPA offers. You want to split test the same offer between networks to make sure that there's not any that out perform the others...I have seen this happen. Also you want to split test the same type of offers between different advertisers. I have seen 300%+ increases in conversions before and that can make a serious difference in your bottom line! Networks often have a monthly budget or may cap you on the quantity that you can produce. So if you have an offer that is performing good, it's wise to have it from multiple networks. Then if a budget or cap gets hit, you can switch to another networks and continue promoting the offer. I have had this happen many many times.

PPL is also referred to as CPL (cost per lead), which falls under the CPA umbrella.

I wouldn't promote offers direct linking. At the very least go get a cheap shared hosting account and redirect. That way you control the traffic. What happens if a link stops working? If your redirecting, then at least you could redirect to another similar offer.

Marketers work in different niches, and different products within the same niche may convert better than others (or better at certain times of the year). For instance, a product could be seasonal. How well a product converts can also depend on the landing page (e.g. product review) you write, the layout of said page, the keywords you target, the promotional method, and more.

In other words, you need to get to know the people in the niche you want to work in and such. Someone telling you what works for them does you no good if you don't know their niche or how to create an infrastructure in the same niche, so that you can duplicate the same level of success. I hope this makes sense.

In the IM market it's multi-teired affiliate programs with recurring payments.

I get traffic from advertising, mostly.
