Changes To WSO Posting Sequence - Some Clarification Please

Since Freelancer took over ownership of the Warrior Forum there have been several updates and changes made. Some, I am sure, are good. Others have been unpopular.

The latest one seems rather odd & confusing and it concerns the steps one has to take to publish a WSO (or WSO Classified) thread. Perhaps the people behind the changes could offer some insight & clarification please?

1. As I understand it, now we are required to make the payment before the thread is even put into the approval process. Is that correct?

2. If the thread is not approved and the poster does not want to alter the copy, will they be eligible for a full refund?

3. As I understand it, the thread goes live as soon as a moderator has approved it. Is this correct?
If so, it is a really bad idea. Here are 3 reasons why...A vendor should be able to choose the time of their product launch according to when the majority of their audience are online and so that they can "grab" the first post for FAQ. Also, affiliates need to know when to start their email campaigns. Thirdly, vendors need to be ready for support questions. If the thread goes live in the middle of the night for them, this is far from ideal.

Maybe someone could jump on and explain why these changes have been made?

Thanks
Barry.

What happens is, the moment you submit your thread, you'll receive a payment notification. You may or may not pay the listing fee immediately. Regardless if its paid or not, your thread will still go in the moderation queue for approval. Keep in mind though that the thread will only go live if:

    a) Payment has been made
    b) Thread has been approved

If both conditions are not met, your thread will not be active or live.

    2. If the thread is not approved and the poster does not want to alter the copy, will they be eligible for a full refund?
Unfortunately no refunds will be processed. Should a thread be rejected or not approved, a notification will be sent to the user with the information that the thread wasn't approved. You will be asked to resubmit another WSO that complies with our guidelines through a link.

    3. As I understand it, the thread goes live as soon as a moderator has approved it. Is this correct?

Your feedback and insight on this feature is very much appreciated. I believe we can still improve on this process in its entirety.

So, does ANYONE know what the actual answer to that last part is????

    4. This is bound to result in a further decline of offers being posted and therefore reduce the number of active members on the forums as is evidenced over the past year or more. In the long run I would be concerned that this could lead to the forum shutting down.

I think you might want to consider having some members actually participate in a group to propose beneficial changes or at least to give feedback on proposed changes so that changes which seem to be counter productive can be better considered before changes are made.

    Thank you for the clarifications.

A consultation group of seasoned WSO posters would be a good thing for everyone - owners and members alike - for developing changes so that they are mutually beneficial.

    Dear WarriorForum ...

You've got some long time members here complaining about the current set up.

I know Lee Murray commented on this recent change in a recent WSO of his ...

    Your strategies appear to be...
...contradictory, apparently not adhered to consistently, and, well...dumb, for the reasons stated previously.

You have multiple people here (and more who are listening, I know) who are some fairly prolific WSO creators...

...can you REALLY afford to tick them off?

...is that what you are TRYING to do (it would nearly seem so)

...could you POSSIBLY be a bit more transparent in your policies (I know, I know, you'd have to be consistent. How about a statement in the WSO forum explaining the procedure so that when someone like Guy writes to support, he doesn't get conflicting answers from things other WF folks state, like Flamekin states above.)

Heck, in the name of transparency...who are you, Flamekin? Seems like you have more posts about WF hoodies than anything else.

I can tell you this: .. I've been on the WF since 2004 ... and I know, personally, many of the folks posting on this thread -- I've bought products from at least 3 of them over the years.

Not sure who you are courting, but from my viewpoint, these folks are the kind of folks you actually might like sticking around ...

As it is...these kinds of changes are discouraging and depressing...

(P.S., I do like the idea of a vendor advisory board...I think it would be an excellent idea.)

    Live JoyFully!

Having the moderator control when a wso goes live isnt the smartest idea! It also screws up affiliate promotion. Are the policy makers here at the WF even talking to people who actually use the WF? When I say use the WF I mean people who launch wsos...not those who post on other people's threads. I cant see anyone who launches wsos, saying that is a good idea! it's ass backwards. Yes I have launched a few wsos in my time so I do know what I'm talking about.

I see a few of the threads that were here have been removed but no real answer is given to the original issue. I'm all for censorship in the appropriate circumstances but just removing posts as you don't like about problems being raised for clarification seems totally daft and really helps no one.

Why aren't we getting any answers here, in a timely manner from someone in authority?

I recently went through the process and it was not a real big deal. It was my first WSO, so I guess I didn't really notice that anything had changed.

I created the thread, paid for the WSO, and as soon as I got the email that it went live I added my payment button.

The problem for me was I screwed up when setting it up in Warrior Plus, and listed it as an offer because I had upsells and it was a funnel. As you know, offers take some time to be approved. The WSO went live well before the offer was approved, so it resulted in my WSO being live for a few hours with no payment button.

I simply set up the product on another affiliate network until my offer was approved in Warrior Plus so I could have a payment button up while I waited.

It was kind of a confusing process, but I don't think it was due to any fault of the Warrior Forum. I think it was more a result of my own disorganization and inexperience in setting up a WSO. And there was a bit of my own stupidity in there too

Well the old way would have saved you the problem. You'd submit the thread for moderation in good time, they'd approve it and invite you to pay for it. You paid for it whenever you wanted the thread to go live, that is, the time you say on your launch page.

As it is now, you got an email telling you when it was live. You could have been asleep at the time. If there was a problem of any kind, as there often can be, you wouldn't know until you got up. There is no control for us as vendors now. That's why it's so daft.

If I were to launch on the Warrior Forum now I'd have to say:

"Get your promo emails ready. The offer goes live at some point in the next week or two, depending on the workload of the moderators and what time zone the one who appraises my post is in. Just be ready to email. You may know it's live before I do, so if I'm not there for support, that's why. Let's crush it!"

      That'd be fun, eh?

Hmmm, I think a whole can of worms has been opened here.

As marketers, and product creators, the need for an ordered launch sequence is vital to maximise our reputations for creating good products, and also maximising traffic and sales.

I am worried this process of not knowing when your thread goes live is going to cause a lot of marketers away from the WF in the long term.

Please could someone who is dealing with this matter tell us exactly what is going on, so we can have the full details on these changes, and make an informed decision on where to go next.

    Many Thanks,

    Paul.

As the saying goes, if it isn't broke don't try to fix it.

In effect we now have a broken system that is not fit for purpose. The thing I find frustrating is several of us here have raised this and here we are more than 2 days have passed with no further response from anyone moderating, or responsible for admin or support on these forums.

Other than fellow Warriors is anyone actually grasping the seriousness and importance of this. It appears not.

Actually, the moderators have been very busy in this thread. They have deleted a post of AzSno's that detailed multiple and wildly conflicting support answers from Freelancer staff on this subject and they deleted a post of mine and I think another member's too.

I, too, would like some firm answers and I would also like them to have the balls to admit that they screwed up. Especially when the support staff and moderators are all giving contradictory information.

      Nothing helpful, though.

I'm not sure why there would be any need to improve on a process that has worked for MANY years, and has been tuned and refined...

The system as it was made a lot of people a lot of money...including the WF ... can't exactly say these changes will help ... again, for reasons other posters have indicated...

I am beginning to worry now. Having launched two products here in my time, I have to say the system of paying after the thread was approved worked.

What shocks me is the amount of people giving constructive criticsm, and removing posts. What concerns me here is that this is no longer a forum for people to air their views, good or bad, and is just something that if people don't like what is said, then that post is simply removed.

If people start to feel undervalued for too long, then people will leave this great forum in droves, and then I fear the WF will become an elephants graveyard.

We are all here to help and give value to our fellow Internet Marketers, and we accept that our opinions, and advice may be either ignored or unwelcome, but we never used to run in fear of our posts being removed.

What is the answer here? Well, I am no expert, however, I do feel, that people in charge need to understand that a lot of their ideas have been good, but this one in particular is not so good and needs looking at again.

Please do not remove this post, or any other, as we are trying to help your business, and see this forum grow exponentially, and make it the forum we know it is, was and always should be.

    Paul.

I think you guys are beating a dead horse here. There has been no more input from WF or Freelancer, they are simply heavily censoring the thread by deleting any comment they dislike (so this might not stay here long).

    It's a shame.

If I can offer a little suggestion for Freelancer/Warrior, although it might fall on deaf ears. Take a leaf out of Clickbanks book. They made bad changes but are listening and back pedaling. You are getting real feedback from the people who actually pay to place listings and ads on your site - your customers.

We all know the customer is never always right... but when a lot of them voice an opinion based on frustration and wanting this place to be as good as it used to be back in the day... maybe it wouldn't hurt to listen just a little?

      Andy, how very true.

If you want to know your market, do the research.

Sadly there has been no research done, and worse, no-one appears to want to listen, and ultimately.....CONVERSE with us.

Is so sad, becasue as you say, we know how good this can be, and that's all we want.

Just wondering how long a dead horse can be flogged now!
