You could try facebook PPC to test the waters if you have the budget for it cause that is the biggest place you will get your customers. Alternatively you could create some listing on big auction sites like ebay and amazon. There you can add your website to your account to enable your customers notice your website.

Thank you for the advice, I have a facebook page already and I sell on Ebay, Etsy and Amazon. I have just got my own website up and running. Things are very slow, so have just started PPC on Google, though this is expensive for the visitors I get (17 clicks = £8.59). I am trying to drum up more visitors without paying a fortune.

Get rid of the posts at the bottom of your website (IE: Hello World)

        The fur boots look great!
You're missing some other useful pages too - TOS and Privacy policy.

As for traffic, I think your name is great as a brand. I think you need some affiliates. You can get it started through a place like Commission Junction.

If I had a fashion blog, I would definitely want to add those boots on it and drive traffic there.

first, facebook has its place but it is far from your highway to riches...you will notice that almost no large corporations with multimillion dollar budgets use facebook for their ads... reason, they do not work.
that said, with your ppc ads, make sure that if one clicks on the ad they go to exactly where that ad says it is for...do not send click throughs to a general or homepage.
also, your price is high for something that most people do not really care about, therefore, you need to make them care, warranty? handmade? what about a video showing they are not handmade in china...
traffic to your site is only important if those coming to your site actually do what you want them to do, in this case it means they buy... your site does not sell me on your quality or any other reason to put 60 on the line...

Make a long term plan for your website promotion by SEO. It is the long term traffic option. For Initial lavel, Facebook ads, Google Adwords, etc, selling on amazon, ebay are the good option to increase sales.

Maybe try to create some kind of commercial for Youtube that could potentially go viral. Make it fun! Put on your thinking cap. They say if you sell fire alarms, you want your commercial to start off with a house on fire.

Luckily for you, this question has been asked probably over 10,000 times since this forum has been here. Use the search function. You'll get a ton of responses.

People will be much more likely to help when you show you've done your research and have questions that the answers aren't one search away. They'll also be glad not to see the same questions pop up 5 times a day. (Well, everyone except the sig spammers).

It also looks VERY shady when you join and post this general question with your first post. Then 12 minutes later a new person happened to join with the answer in their first post.

And neither of you missed a beat to get your sigs in. Hmm...

    Make your content great.

What can you offer that nobody else is offering? What information or tools / charts / resources can you provide?

Make something amazing. Focus on super high quality material, and the links / traffic / customers will come.

Or, you know, just do PPC.

There are a bunch of options. Article writing, forum posting, Adsense, Bing, FB Ads, Solo Ads, and so on. You just need to decide which one is best for your audience and laser sharp focus in on keyword targeting (if you go the ppc route).

All these questions, as basic as they are, should be answered ahead of time. Because they reveal the best answer(s) to the question you are asking.

      Otherwise -

      You get told:
      • SEO
      • PPC
      • Social Media
And none of that really helps, does it?

P.S. The fact that you said customers and not traffic points to you having more of a handle than most here. Mix that with the answers to these basic questions and you are well on your way.
This one piece of advice is bang on the money! If I were you, I would print it off and make a poster to hang on your wall, and add the following...
I don't "drive" customers to my online store, I ATTRACT them by being a "person of interest". One really great example of how to do this is The Dollar Shave Club. They used a YouTube video that went viral. Check it out here:

The video is hilarious,,,and why it went viral.

Seriously if you can get a video like that going then your in the money.

Apart from FB ads I would be using Pinterest and Instagram for your images....
Apart from yourself as a brand ( Ferboy ) your images should tell a story.

Do an animated funny video of some of your products.

One caveat - if you decide to try Facebook (or any other PPC), be very specific in your targeting, or you could waste a lot of money very quickly.

This time of year, I would look at a couple of different audiences:

      > People who are "into" buying shoes (I know, duh).

      > People who like "Top X Gifts for ______" pages, especially if they suggest higher end gifts for adults.

Retargeting is another option to strongly consider.

You can build your own empire inside social networks for free, but if you want to make things happen right away, you can try solo ads.

Basically a solo ad is a private email list (targeted traffic for you) where you can buy clicks for your website, you can find something like 0.50 cents per click.

Since you sell that kind of products, you need to try Pinterest. Make clients just with pictures! it's a gold mine, trust me.

I would recommend PPC as well. This is an alternative to organic traffic. If you're site is not ranking well in search engines then you should definitely think of investing in PPC or PPV advertising.

Just remember when you buy traffic you should try and setup a funnel because not everyone will buy when they land on your site. By funnel I mean squeeze page that captures their contact information which you can use to send them promotional emails on a regular basis.

If you're thinking of using PPC advertsing then I recommend using Traffic Monsoon or Clixsense. You can just PM me if you need additional help. Hope my answer was helpful and I wish you all the best for the future.

I'm new at this and am starting to build a email list through answering posts and blogs. I 'll take a question and if I don't know the answer research it on the web, and also try to find books giving answers and post that. This will help me create a list and allow me to promote products in my nich at a later date.

Assuming you have a zero marketing budget: leverage Communities!

Use your wisdom to solve problems for other people.

Go to Quora and answer as many questions as you can in your niche, making sure that you drop your link there.

Also use targeted forums (check BoardReader to find them) to find people passionate about your niche and be active on it.

Make sure you also check Reddit sub-categories, might find some very targeted prospects in there.

Finally: check Goggle+ Communities. As long as you deliver great content in there you'll be golden.

Why is this method awesome? You are not spamming people with your link but instead helping them. If you solve their problems they will naturally go to your website.

Everybody likes to buy but nobody likes being sold.

    Good luck to you!

    Cheers

Figure out who your primary target is. Are you looking to sell directly to consumer? Are you looking for other retailers to sell your product? These are different audiences and your approach to each will be different. Tell me which one you are targeting and I'll give you more feedback on the approach to use.

    My suggestion is Facebook:
Your product are a good fit for facebook media, so here is what you can do.... create a post on your page add an irresistible image/ shareable image, link to a squeeze page to capture prospects, also add FB retargeting pixel to capture audience as you kick start.

Next BOOST your post (paid promotion), traffic will start pouring quickly. To optimize your campaign, target people interested in big brands in your niche and magazines about your niche.

Create a separate post "ex. Thank you for visiting our website....... Get 35% discount on all purchases. ..blah blah. .." then promote this to your retargeting audience. With this I you're guaranteed success.

Lastly, once you start seeing some sales reinvest into media buys ( sitescout, buysellads, adroll)

    Good luck,
    Joe

As others have said, focus on building your brand on social media platforms. If you have attractive photos of your products, really get involved on Pinterest and Instagram. It's incredibly easy to have your products reach a huge market and it's easy for others to find you, as well. Post high-quality shots frequently (especially on Pinterest) and soon you'll start gaining traction.

  • You guys continue to do things backwards. Find a traffic source FIRST, then build a product they will want.

SEO your site in Google then automatically the traffic will turn to you. It's like build a new road in between the rushy area that leads people to their destination then automatically all the traffic will be shifted to the less rushy area and soon your area will be filled. Simple is that. SEO is the best option for your site and then the traffic will be your's.

I scanned through all the suggestions for you, i discovered that majority talked about Social Media ( Facebook, Twitter, etc).

So, i will also suggest you make use of Social Media particularly Facebook Groups, Twitter, Google Plus Communities all you have to do is to join facebook Groups and G+ Communities related to your niche or contents of your website, then you can now MANUALLY post/share and promote your Ad Copy, dont forget to add/upload IMAGE to your Ad Copy because this will call Attention to Message for group members to get notice of Ad Copy and may want to click to view your website.

I will add that you make use goo,gl to track the Traffic Source and Country.

    Thanks

There are so many right answers to this question. SEO, SEM, PPC, Social Media, the list goes on and on. A better question would be how can I get quality customers to my website.
Who is your customer? What is their profile and demographics? From that you can then decide where your time and money is best spent. Without knowing much about your business, I can tell you that you'll definitely want to include Pinterest as one piece of your marketing strategy.

There are really a host of free and paid options to drive traffic to your sites and my fellow warriors have already covered most of them.

Here are some you can try:
      • Submitting articles to article directories
      • Turning those articles into videos
      • Submitting those and other videos about your product or service
      • Creating Youtube videos
      • Sharing content on social media (facebook, twitter, instagram etc)
      • Search Engine Optimisation
      • A free webinar with something to sell at the end if appropriate
      • Forum posting
      • Press releases
      • Classified Ads
      • Facebook Advertising

What I have found most useful is a course by Armand Morin called Bring Your Own Traffic which utilises some of the above but also PPC, PPV and some very useful content on Facebook advertising.

It is important that you choose whichever method(s) work for you and your target market.

      Good luck!

    Hey there,

Well honestly, there are many ways.. In my personal opinion I would create a list of people who have an interest in your product.

So definitely create a opt-in page where they can go and receive special offers you provide them. I'm assuming your big selling time would be around the holidays especially christmas and black friday and such? So be sure to have steep discounts. You need a hook to try and grab someones attention and then if they want more you can direct them to your website.

So drive people to an opt-in page, your best bet might be PPC advertising and grab their email list and give them something away for free, maybe it's a coupon?

Also when these people are on your list I would even go as far as to send them a sample of the fabric in the mail for them to feel and see what the slippers feel like. Just a little square of fabric and inside the envelope put a card that has your website and maybe another coupon, but of course only make 1 coupon available upon checkout.

Your main goal is to get them through your door and you shouldn't really make any kind of money off your first sale to that customer. It should be enough to cover the cost and shipping and that's about it.

Or have you checked out selling to retailers that make hand made stuff? I know your asking about online, but just wondering if you tried this..

Get their email address so you can stay in contact with them and also ask for their regular address so you can send some people samples of the fabric. I think that'd be really cool!

    Just some thoughts though..

    Hope this helps

    Adam

Depends on where and when you run them, and how you define "expensive"...

Running ads on local cable during the "insomniac hours" can be pretty cheap, especially if you're willing to take what's called "remnant ads." These are simply ads the station keeps on standby in case they have unsold slots, or someone cancels, etc.

The same goes for radio ads.

I would work out what your keywords are. You should know them and get writing to drive traffic back to your website, publish articles where you can and, do guest blogging and leave relevant comments on peoples site, also find a forum that is relevant to your services that are where your clients hang out and start off posting relevant stuff to help people before promoting your website to help these people as that should be your first step. Maybe talk about samples on youtube and link back to your site. A lot of 'gurus' are saying facebook is fickle and not a strong buying crowd. You could look at Esty as well set up a shop on there so that it all links back to your site. Amazon have some good books on content marketing. Good luck

I have taken some of your wisdom and started a Facebook ad as well as adwords PPC.
Results are FB got 269 website clicks for £21.23, Adwords got 96 Clicks for £29.
Facebook seems to be far better for now. I have also tried my hand at Solo ads, though not sure on the results. I will be looking into a Funnel or squeeze page and a way of collecting an email list, as I have nothing in place for this yet. Thank you good people!

Think about blog posting. Create a small site blog to add some useful articles/advices and at the same time to promote your products. Then make relevant and quality backlinks on it. Do not forget about facebook and twitter - choose one, and focus on it (connect with your blog). Optimize your web site!
Can't find the way to sign in. You should remember that it's a best way to get leads and to start mail campaign with discounts, special offers etc.

Today good digital marketing strategy should contain few points: CEO, CMO, and SMM. Write interesting and easy to read articles about everything that concerns you topic. Try to get backlinks from good trustful websites which also cover your topic. And of course, you need to know everything about social media marketing.

Social media are dominant in digital marketing. And everyone said correctly about it takes time for social media following but with the modern age we have now, it could be a good investment as it creates awareness (that could also be an advertisement for your product/services/organization).

Outsourcing can be a good answer as well. It appoints experts on the task that you wanted to be done faster and effectively. Just make sure that when creating or making social media accounts, you have to update it time to time and check its traffic. Then observe the results.

Make use of the available social networking sites like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and even YouTube.

You could attempt facebook PPC to try things out on the off chance that you have the monetary allowance for it cause that is the greatest spot you will get your clients. On the other hand you could make some posting on huge closeout locales like ebay and amazon. There you can add your site to your record to empower your clients see your site.

I think that is more local thing where you need to open a store and sell. Webpage is more for other things. I think you need to penetrate the market slowly first locally then globally. I am sure you have a good product and wish you all the best. Let me know where i can order them

There are different ways to drive traffic to your site and most of them can be done for FREE.

You can create a blog for your site (www.example.com/blog) and write articles or reviews about your products linking to the item on the product page. Always bookmark a new post - This method can be outsourced if you don't have the time. With constant writing you will be getting organic free traffic to your site.

You can off course run paid adverts but that will cost you some cash and you will need to do a lot of trial and error before you know what keywords work.

You can post your products and site on social media, but make sure to continuously build a big following on what ever platform you are using.

You can create youtube videos with images of your products and post on youtube and link back to your site. Then you promote the video so it gets views. This is a good way of getting eyes on your product fast.

These are just a few ways, I hope you have been getting some results with the tips other warriors have given you.

    Good luck

I think that the best way to promote such site is Social Media Marketing. Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter should be your fundument. And also an interesting blog with a fresh content to support your SMM campaign. Sooner or later you'll get a stable and solid list of leads and it'll be a time for email marketing. Best luck for U!

Since you already are using Etsy, Ebay and Amazon, maybe you should look into selling them on OpenBazaar when it launches.

I found that building an audience on Twitter and Pinterest got me instant traffic and some sales within just a few days. Don't underestimate the power of social media...just watch the Shark Tank to see how some businesses have been built on completely free traffic (including Instagram) as well. It is all about finding your KEY audience and getting your brand in front of them hundreds or thousands of times. You can do this! Kristie Chiles

I am still struggling with creating a squeeze page. I still have no way to collect emails from my visitors. Although I have had hundreds of visitors, I have not yet got a single email nor had any sales yet. This is frustrating as I sell OK on others sites and have had hundreds of excellent reviews and recommendations from past customers. I do not have money to pay for marketing, advertising or web design until I start getting sales. Any ideas/help appreciated. Blogging and social media seem to be the most popular answer, though i've read up on blogging a tad, I still don't really get it. Do I make regular posts on my website or elsewhere?

you can start with advertising on FB, to your friends, then open a page and invite your friend and their friend to like it, also you can open Pinterest page and follow others with similar interest and they will follow you. sell it on eBay and once it sold, send them a voucher/coupon to your website and make a sell on your website as well. if you like to show your product and how you make it you can create a video channel on youtube and people will start following you..

just a few ideas there,, it will take time though

You've been given loads of valuable information here. One more thing (if it hasn't already been mentioned) you can do is start a Facebook Group and offer information about your products. Invite people in (never just add them)! Banter back and forth and be sure your new products or featured products get posted with a link. Good luck to you!

I'm not going to beat the dead horse by repeating great strategies that have already been stated but do not sleep on or forget about Instagram. Facebook has bought IG so it is implanting a lot of its tactics from their on over to IG. You can have your posts sponsored a well and I must say I have done a lot of great business in the past because of Instagram. People want to know your story and you can tell that through your Instagram posts.

Then you can promote your product on social media network sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Utilizing them can bring you many benefits

    Hi,

I am a newbie in marketing and like you, my stuff is to design and create great stuffs not to market them and like you I also had to learn. I just wanted to tell you that before spending a penny in TV, radio, Facebook ads or whatever you must define WHO is your ideal customer. Without identifying the people most likely to be interested in your campaign, but also those who are likely to spend money on it, you are dead in the water. It is an absolute deal breaker. That said, I would identify geographic regions whose residents have more money. Especially if you want to sell luxury handmade slippers. There is no point having a target market of 1.5 Million people because nobody will have enough advertising budget or time to reach them all.
