Which name use as main domain, plural or singular?

Hi all,

I'm launching a new fashion blog in Brazil called Fashion Style. It's a business based on the clothing dressed by famous TV series stars.

I have both names fashionstyle.com.br and fashionstyles.com.br, however, I'm looking for some advice to choose which one is the best.

Right now, I chose the singular name because of there are more searches related to this term. And the plural is just being redirected to the main domain.

Moreover, some people told me that the plural name sounds more brandable.

I want to hear your feedback. What would you use and why?

I say go for the plural version too. It just sounds better and makes more sense.

Go for just fashionstyle.com.br (singular) as this is your blog name.

I'd go with fashionstyles.com.br as it implies 'more' styles, and it flows better.

If it's a name like Time Magazine, Newsweek etc go with the singular. If it's a subject like gloves, news etc go with the plural form.

Now if it is a name and a subject like Good Times, Fast Cars, etc, use the plural.

If you are still not sure, write an email to a friend telling them about the site you found. Then look and see if you used the singular or plural form.

I think singular is more brandable in most cases.

You own both so who cares?

What agmccall is talking about ref redirect (for newbies if you already know):

The singular is the main domain because it matches your logotype.

Buy the plural domain. In your CPanel (control option) you can set up as many domains as you want, such as singular .net, singular.biz, .whatever.

For a fee, your web host will connect the alternate domains to your main domain so that anyone who types in the wrong site name will still end up on your blog.

It does nothing for SEO, but it helps keep copycats from jamming your domain name.

When I set up my site before we went nonprofit, I had both domain.com & domain.org. If one types in the .org url or looks for it on the 'net, the web site will open with the .org url, but will switch to .com on the next page.

I will third or fourth what Al originally said.

But the main thing to do here is this : Do not spend one more day bothering with this. Back in the day I would have something like this come up where I was torn. And it took a few days of wasting time to ponder it.

And in the long run it didn't really matter.

So either one but do move forward asap

"Fashion style" gets more than twice the monthly searches that "fashion styles" gets according to the keyword planner.

I think singular is better as main domain, but register both.

Discrat is right. It doesn't matter. Just pick one as your main one and redirect the other to the main one. Don't waste any more time on this. Move forward.

Firstly I would like to suggest you to use the singular name. Then if you think there is no problem of money, you should buy that also. For using redirect. Thanks

grab both, so you can get the misspellings.

it wont matter much what you call it. When you look at a list of the top fashion blogs they are all over the place i.e.; BlondeSalad, Wendy's Lookbook, Peace Love Shea, We Wore That, CupcakesandCashmere, BarefootBlonde, FashionToast, Damsel in Dior.
so pick whatever you like best

    Hi,

My experience is that if the products are generic then the plural works best.

If it is a specific product you are promoting the singular works best.

Register both and redirect as suggested previously.
