Looked on Google but can't find the answer

Sorry folks. Can't find these answers on google so got to ask here i'm afraid.

Been working on a basic company site on wordpress so i can submit something when affiliates/cpas ask for a site. Plus gives me a chance to learn how to use wordy.

1. So first problem, the "homepage" of the site is showing as a post and not page.

I treied deleting the post and creating a home "page" but then when i load the site up the front page shows as "sorry what you are looking for can't be found".

So how do i make the home page actually a page and not a post? (if that makes sense)

2. What do i need to download to secure or backup the wordpress sites to protect content or be able to reupload if it got wiped?

3. Obviously when creating a full website great i use wordpress. If however i am just creating a "site" to get people from an article to a merchant offer, should i still use wordpress and if so can i get a plug in that is a Sales/opt in type page?

I'm sure these are simple things and i understand where wordpress can be used to create a full site, just trying to get my head round how i would use it when say article marketing to get people to my affiliate offer via my site. Would you just have a staic one or 2 page website using wordpress or just create a squeeze page with it? Or even just have a domain and redirect to a merchant? Sorry these are very rambling questions.

Thanks folks!

Well for number one login to your wordpress wp-admin panel go down to settings then reading, there you should be able to set a page for a static home page. Hope this helps you can also set another page as the blog if you want the blog feature still.

As for #2 I think wordpress has an export feature in it to save your site, well i know it saves posts and pages anyways, you can locate that in the tools section in the wp-admin panel. There are also plugins if you want to backup the database. here is one http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-db-backup/

There are sales page plugins out there, but iv never tried them, maybe later ill test one out. check this one out no affl link http://www.gotoguyenterprises.com/bl...for-wordpress/

    Hi,

in WP admin panel goto Setting - Reading. Select "static page" (first you do need to create a page".

Do a search for "wordpress backup plugin".

I guess if your site is just a few pages you might aswell use a simple HTML template. But you can use WP for anything.

    Hope this helps a bit.

    Best,

    Johan

Thanks guys. Sorted, except now i have two home pages showing when i load up the site but when i go to edit pages there is only 1 home page lol. Any way i can clear the 2nd duplicate home page from appearing on the site! Im gradually getting the hang of wordy though!!

Oh and in regards to the landing page question i spose a better way to word it is, is it effective using wordpress to create just a landing page where you give away something and build a list?
