I haven't got into list building like I would like, but when I read about it I mostly just read about it in the 'Make Money Online' niche. My question is if you believe list-building is ALWAYS a great idea, or if some niches are just better for selling a single product, or for Adsense or for whatever. It almost seems to me that after selling one main product to someone, what else can you sell to them?

A list in:

Gardening?
Acne?
Get ex back?

These seem like niches where there aren't brand new products and tools coming every day like there are in 'make money online, or even in stock trading or Forex.

What say you? Are ALL niches ripe for list-building?

They might also be interested in other products that help them improve their appearance, such as hair care information, teeth whitening, etc.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

A list also gives you more than one crack at selling that ONE MAIN PRODUCT.

Yeah Lance, I was wondering if that might be the case. Is it a good thing to do even if that's the only product you are going to sell, simply to have more chances at it. So thanks for answering that.

And Dan, thanks too. Those are good ideas. Those were just examples, of course, but I was trully wondering if list-building was always a good idea, even for the crazy most obscure niches out there. Sounds like so far the answer is: always try and build a list.

ooh a good list in the gardening niche sounds ripe for the picking. This is a list that can keep growing and cultivated.

    - really bad puns intended. I'll hide in shame now.

You can sell them many things...preferably a higher priced product. The whole reason to have a list is to continue to market them.
