540 Clicks Advertising Clickbank Products With No Sales

THIS IS MY MESSAGE TO CLICKBANK AND WILL GIVE YOU SOME INSIGHT TO MY BING ADS CAMPAIGNS. I AM NEW TO CLICKBANK/BINGADS AND THE WARRIOR FORUM AND LOOK FORWARD TO MANY CONVERSATIONS. PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL AND INFORMATIVE, AS I'M NEW AND AM LEARNING.

I have just started out as an affiliate on Clickbank.
I have spent $129 on promoting 15 products. For the amount spent I have recieved 30,500 impressions and 540 clicks. Now i am new here, so i may have stuffed something up. The products I have listed are all a little different to each other, as I'm testing out what will work. But all these products are described as being very successful. Now I have not got one sale and I think something is seriously wrong here. All people that have clicked through to the product know what it is and how much it is. So that is why I think something is seriously wrong. I doubt that it takes 540 clicks and still not have a sale. Please help me, as i'm very interested in Clickbank, but if i'm not going to get any sales after spending the next $130 I will be leaving this site. Please help me in any way you can. Thank you for you time, look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks, Aaron

  • Nothing strange about that, in fact it's about par for newbies.

Learn how to build an email list with your advertising investment.

Means nothing. Are vendors going to say, "this product sucks and will not convert."?
    • [ 3 ] Thanks
  • True. I just find it odd that each visitor knows what they are clicking into and know how much it is. Although some products have free trials etc. Would that effect clickbank saying 0 sales?. I'm just running bing ads and directing people to the affilate link I have. I have lots of time on my hands. what do you reccomend i do?. To be honest after 500 clicks I would have been happy with just one sale. Just so I know it's working properly.
  • Aaron, don't take this the wrong way but you'll never get very far as an entrepreneur with that kind of thinking.

It's quite normal for beginners to lose money with paid traffic campaigns, and that's part of how you learn what doesn't work.

As Brent mentioned, you need to start building an email list if you want to make any money from your traffic campaigns.

Do some searches on this forum for list building and start learning email marketing - if you don't, you're wasting your ad money.

    Regards,
    Daniel
  • If you're driving traffic directly to the offers, then the results aren't really surprising.

Paid advertising is all about testing until you find a campaign that works. And even after you've found a campaign that works, you're still going to be making adjustments to improve it.

If you're going to go with paid advertising, especially if you want to drive traffic directly to the offer, you're going to need a big budget... unless if you're lucky and land on a winning campaign early on.

If you have a small advertising budget, rather use that paid traffic to build a list. That way, you have an audience that you can promote to over and over again. If one product you promote isn't a fit with your email list, you can just promote another.
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • What type of site do you have, a review site or blog.

Do you have an opt in box offering a free bonus in exchange for their email

If so, do you have a drip mail series you set them up on

Is your traffic targeted. if so from what type of source (PPC, SEO, Facebook...)

Answer these questions and will help you out with what you are doing wrong.
  • Keep plugging in and stay glued on testing. I lay a wager that it's the keywords you choose that will make or break a campaign. Takes a ton of research but the dividends at the end of the rope can be humongous. Plus there's more to life than Bing and GA...
  • Based on what you said, it sounds like your direct linking.

Advertising 15 Clickbank products with 540 clicks is only about 36 clicks per product. You usually need at least about 100 to 150 clicks to determine whether a product is worth promoting.

There are too many factors to say why you haven't had any sales, but 3 possible reasons are-

    1. Direct linking instead of using a landing page to pre-warm visitors.
    2. Bidding on broad match. This match type shows your ads for lots of unrelated searches.
    3. Not enough clicks yet. Avg of 36 clicks per product.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • You're doing scattershot direct linking. $129 promoting 15 products is less than $9 per product.

That's your advertising test: $9 per product. Who in the real world decides an ad campaign is good or not based on a $9 test?

540 clicks for $129 is less than a quarter per click. Over 15 products the average is 36 clicks per product. That's nothing.

First, you're not doing marketing. You're wasting money with scattershot ads to merchant sites.

Second, what makes you think ClickBank products will convert? Someone sees an ad, clicks on it, and sees a sales page. You expect them to immediately buy the product? Why?

Here's a reality check: I remember when PPC first started and clicks were a penny each for anything you wanted to bid on. Most ClickBank products were NOT profitable then for PPC. They certainly aren't now with much higher spends and more competition.

Bluntly: your entire strategy is flawed thinking you will make money this way. It's not the keywords. It's not your ads. It's a fundamentally flawed strategy. (But go ahead and spend more money trying to prove me wrong.)

More reality check: the reason you're using Bing is because Google will (or already has) terminate your AdWords account for direct linking to ClickBank products. That is how poor these products are perceived.

Newbies constantly flock to ClickBank products and constantly get their butts kicked. It's weird. We've all been there. New to IM = ClickBank.

So let's try to advance the learning curve a bit ...

    - Stop the PPC.

    - Build a website promoting a 'real' product. Have affiliate links, have a newsletter sign up form, etc.

    - If you're going to pay for traffic try to make better use of it by (a) pre-selling the product you're promoting and (b) having a newsletter so you can follow-up with the prospect.

    • PPC isn't ideal if you are just getting started with affiliate marketing, but if you want to go that route, make sure that at least:
      -you have a landing page
-your are tracking correctly (e.g. using prosper202)
-your are monitoring your kws daily and building your negative kw list
-you are making use of ad groups

      This.

Print this and read it every day.

Until it finally makes sense to you.

I couldn't have said it better myself.
  • Yeah i know some of this. I did have a drop shipping site that was actually pretty neat. With the amount i've spent direct linking, i'm sure i could of had some success on it linking to that instead. But i didn't recieve an email regarding a payment for my website name and now they want $175 just so i can have it again. So if i spend all my time in the next 2 weeks on my dropshipping model on shopify, integrate a blog, product reviews with affilate links, as well as my dropshipping products that i have lined up. I am sure I can make some money. I am very optimistic and am somewhat smart, i know how to make lot's of money the proper, more efficient and smarter way. But i lose motivation working on projects, mainly because it's a lone type thing. So i've been looking for the easy way in, which is just a waste i guess. Although trying to direct link and make money has still taught me a lot that i can integrate into many other aspects online.

Thanks for all the comments guys.

    Just quickly.

A product/service i advertise is numerologist.com Now they say when somebody signs up through my link i will get a commission when they buy something which is 75%. For 0.08 cents per click. So if i spent $100 dollars i'd have 1200 clicks, even if 10 of them sign up and buy products i've made my money back easily. So you can see why it looks attractive obviously. But i should do everything the proper way, i really should just be persistent and not give up. I just heard lots of people made money of direct linking, so i thought i'd try it what do you all do?.
    • [1] reply
    • Not only are you promoting ClickBank, you're in a niche with horrible conversion rates. OMG - stay away from PPC.

Thinking you will get 10 signups in 1200 clicks is wildly optimistic. I would say 1 in 1200 is optimistic for that topic.

  • Hi EntrePreneur, I also would recommend to stop your bing advertising. Do some niche product research first and go deep. Find a profitable niche first before you do anything else. Then start a blog and an FB page about your niche. Give value to the visitor. Then you can start promoting a couple of products on your blog but stay in your niche and do not link directly to your affiliate link. Build a squeeze page and start building your own list so you can market new products to your list all the time. But stay in one niche. That is my recommendation. Good luck with your endeavours. Christina
  • Don't do direct linking, and start some lead generation advertising. Stick with what works, and i hope the product(s) you're promoting will bring you more sales month after month. If you invest that kind of money that you're doing now, only for a $30 ebook or software.... how are you going to make your money back - since you get no access to the customer after they buy? Look into creating your own info-products.
  • YOU forgot to renew a domain name and now you must pay more if you want to keep it because it's in the redemption grace period...right?

Remembering to renew domains - or keeping on auto-renew is part of being in business online.

It's the same mindset as the ads. Direct linking - multiple products - the type of products....you have to do better to get results.
  • Very simple

    You targeted the wrong keywords

Many keywords will give you clicks

Some even produce email sign ups

But they still won't make you MONEY

You should have invested at least 1 hour into PPC marketing before spending a DIME

It would have saved you from all this hassle

Also there's a trick to CLICKBANK that's very obvious but most people are BLIND TO

Anyway, I hope the PAIN of wasting cash TEACHES you the IMPORTANCE of proper research, proper implementation, and CONTINGENCY PLANNING.

There's a reason only a TINY FRACTION of marketers make any REAL MONEY.
  • Sometimes I go a thousand clicks without a sale, then sell a bunch in a big wave, 540 doesn't always mean anything. However I would wonder if you are attracting the right visitors, make sure your keywords attract exactly the right person or you will always lose money on advertising....and don't forget negative keywords.
  • Never made a penny with Clickbank and will never go near it again.

  • Find a coach and let them look into your campaign and walk you through everything you're inevitably doing wrong. There's too much you don't know to get anything meaningful from some forum posts.
  • Problem #1: You're all over the place. You are trying to become a profitable PPC marketer, CPA marketer, blogger & eCommerce site owner all in the same week.

    Not possible.

Problem #2: You are trying to make 'easy' money by direct linking to affiliate products.

There is no such thing as 'easy money' with PPC. It takes a ton of time, patience, split-testing, optimizing and budget to work out a profitable campaign.

You're batting 0-5 on those 5 important factors.

If affiliates could just go out and start direct linking PPC campaigns to affiliate products profitably, don't you think everyone would already be doing that?
  • Dear Entre Preneur When doing PPC you need to look at the Gravity of the Product, then see if there are similar products to split test with. Do a keyword research build a Presell Landing Page. Get your Keywords into Bing Ads and use a tracking software to see where your clicks are coming from. If you use a Broad Keywords remember if you use something like "Buy Cure for Diabetes" and someone types on Bing free cure for Diabetes your ads will still show, and curiosity can lead to clicking the ads with no intention of buying. so when you track you will see whats being searched and what is giving you sales. By doing so you can optimise your campaign.
  • Continuation Caution Clickbank allows charge backa and this can lower your RTO. I suggest you begin with free offers and Nutra Trial Offers from CPA networks. All the Best
  • Clickbank is a very large marketplace. So, you have to choose a product wisely. You can check out the gravity of the product. Do some split testing. Better research the things first before going into paid advertising especially into PPC.
  • The big question you should ask yourself is:
  • The two big questions you should ask yourself are:
A: Are you just sending traffic to the offer or sending traffic to a squeeze page/landing page?
B: If your answer to the first question is yes, then have you got follow up email series?
See, from experience, it takes at least 3-5 follow up emails to make a sale either on clickbank or any other affiliate site. The crux of the matter is you need to do this right and invest your money wisely.
Instead of just putting all your budget on ads, why not follow this simple process:
Setup a squeeze page/landing page (so you can capture leads; their emails), this not only helps you with the current offer you are promoting, but also allows you to market to them in future â€" create/get someone to create you email series related to the offer you are promoting (typically 5 email series to be sent out over a 5/10 day period) â€" set up an Aweber account (if you are truly serious about making money online, you MUST have this in place) â€" put ads up, sending the traffic to the squeeze page/landing page you have created â€" gather the emails from the traffic and program your Aweber account to send out the email series.
    I hope this helps.
    To your success,
    Bianworld.
  • Most people don't buy at first contact...so would be wise send clicks to an optin and create 5-7 day simple follow up...You'll have many more sales...along with building the your long term asset...AKA Your email list...
  • Well, it is a bit strange that not 1 person bought a single product since every person who clicked through knew what it was and how much the price was. However, people by nature are curious and it may have happened that they all clicked just to see what the offer really looked like and what it was really about, but were not prepared to take any money out of their pockets.

Even if one or two people bought some of the products you were offering, you are pursuing the wrong strategy. Direct linking to clickbank is very hard to make profitable. Only if you find very, very targeted audience, that is ready to spend and pay, you might get some results. In 90% of cases you need to send them to landing page, you need to get their email addresses, you then need to send them 2-3 useful newsletters and then you offer them a successful product. Don't try to skip steps and to jump way ahead of the game....it won't happen!

Keep testing this is not a lot of traffic.
  • Start building your list bro. Even if you dont make any money from bing, you will have your own list to promote.
  • I recommend two things. Number one, promote 2 to 3 products to start. This way you distribute your budget over less offers and gain a statistically significant idea of which performs the best at a lower cost.

Number two is to promote lower-price offers. As long as these are in lower ad-cost niches, as they should be, you can get good conversion data on a smaller budget.

  • I think, you took to much products for your test. It will be better if you choose 2-5 products and concentrate on them: get good keywords, use trackers.
If you continue your test and you will succeed for sure.
  • Hey Guy's, I appreciate all your input. I think I'll set up my shopify store with my own products and some affiliate products. Set up a youtube and Facebook page. Then I''l direct link to my facebook/website, capture emails and promote myself instead of somebody else.
  • Not enough testing in PPC . Need more testing. Why don't you concentrate on drop shipping stuffs in shopify instead? You have a good base there.
  • Here's a quick question for you...

If the vendor could make sales by sending eight cent clicks to his sales page, why on earth would he offer 75%commission to affiliates? What does he need you for?

Way too many wannabe affiliates get seduced by the siren song of 50%, 75%, even 100% commission, especially when combined with "spammer math" (If I get even .001% of 100 million emails...)

There's a reason Clickbank vendors offer 50%-75% commissions to affiliates, and it isn't because they're just generous people.

This bit may sound a bit cynical, but were the people telling you about making big bucks direct linking selling something like a direct linking system, keyword research tool, or similar?
  • I Suggest you stick to promoting the 2 products with the highest click through rates, send them to an opt in page that offers them something of value like a free ebook or whatever
  • go try facebook ads they are perfect and u could choose if you want them

    per lead
    sale
    conversion
visit etc they r perfect start by $!0 then go up increase the budget !

    good luck !
  • Here is the harsh truth: Clickbank owes you nothing.

There is a learning curve to absolutely everything, and online marketing is no different.

People seem to think "I put money into the machine and I instantly get profit out of the machine." No. Just like any other skill, you have to learn it.

Your traffic source is up to you, not Clickbank. You have seen comments from other people describing how, in reality, you have not gotten enough traffic to any one offer to have any statistically relevant conclusions.

Figure out what you learned from this experience, and focus on what adjustments you need to make next. The pattern of newbies seems to be Lose, Lose, Lose, Lose, Lose, WIN!! and then Lose (OMG why did I Lose?! I thought I had this figured out), Lose, Win, Lose, WIN!!...well, you probably get the point.

You wouldn't expect to become a competent carpenter overnight and with a $150 investment...would you? There's no difference here. Yes, you can get into IM easily. But that doesn't guarantee you anything.
