Hey guys. I wanted to start a thread about cheap new and overlooked traffic sources that people may want to try.

I would ask that you add to my list if you have a source that you think is worth trying.

I will get it started by mentioning the following cheap traffic sources...

  1. Instagram ads - As low as $.01 per view (photo or 60 second video)
  2. Facebook Video Ads - As low as $.01per view (video ad)
  3. Adwords For Video (Youtube) - As low as $.02 per view (video ad)
Update: My Favorite Suggestions and attribution to the commentators are listed below!

From BusinessAce on thread #2 - Finding blogs to comment on using google alerts.
From danieldesai on thread #5 - Advertising on niche blogs.
From carlosfletesjr on thread #22 - Great advice on Youtube Advertising.
From tonymanso on thread #25 - Explains how to use dating sites to get cheap traffic.
From mzonas on thread #27 - Explains how to combine slidshare and fiverr to get cheap traffic.

If you know of any other good cheap traffic sources, please share them by commenting below. If you provide and overlooked method and you explain how to use it well, then I will ad you to my favorite comments section above.

  • Although it's a low-volume source, it's very high quality, high-converting traffic, that also happens to be free - early Alerts blog & forum commenting:

Set some Google Alerts for keywords that are highly relevant to our niche, and be within the first few to post worthwhile comments on relevant new blog posts & forum threads.

Another high-converting traffic source for me is monitoring & commenting on relevant topic conversations & pages on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

    • This one is great, and I have even used twitter hawk, that does it automatically when you are asleep.

Its seems to work really well, with the syntax and default stuff you can set.

Lets face it, we are in the midst of a tech boom, and social media boom right now, so concentrating your efforts from getting traffic from these areas is not silly at all.
  • I have also used the Google Alert method. The key to this method is to make good comments that make people want to learn more about you. Spam comments do not work and most blog owners will delete your comment if you try it.

  • Thanks for your share and I will try
My cheap is fb group and linkedin
  • Advertising on niche blogs.

It's not new but it can be cheap.

You'd be amazed at how many blogs are out there with decent traffic but the owners don't know how to monetize them properly so they use AdSense and other banner ads to generate revenue.

If you find a blog like this, you can convince the owner to rent out some ad space.

The downside is that you won't really find blogs like these in the internet marketing space as they already know how to make money from their traffic.

    Regards,
    Daniel

  • Thanks for the tips!!!

Can you explain more about the Google Alert method?
    • [1] reply
    • The Google Alert Method is very simple.

Here is how you do it.

Step 1 - You simply go over https://www.google.com/alerts and set up an alert for keywords in your niche.

When setting up your google alert be sure to pick the following options...
      1. As it happens (you will get an email as soon is content is posted using your selected keywords)
      2. blogs - This will make sure you only get alerts about blogs that have just created a new post using your keywords.
      See the screenshot below...

Step 2 - Once you receive a google alert via email, then you go to the blog that just posted new content and comment on their post.

Note: You will want to be one of the first people to comment because the first people to comment will be at the top of the comments and more people will see them when they comment on the post.

Your traffic will come from the link (your name will be linked to your website) that you are allowed to leave when submitting your information before making your comment.

Few tips when using this method...

      1. Some people will tell you to figure out a way to add your link in your comment. I don't recommend that. Most blog owners are not stupid and they will see that you are just comment spamming.
      2. Make a great comment. Your job is to make other readers of the blog post want to learn more about you so they can get more of your insights. So..your comment can not be something like (I love your article..keep up the good work). It needs to either add to the conversation or even start a new one. For example: You could read through the blog post, take one main point from it, and go into more detail about that point in your comment.)
      3. This method is very time consuming so it may be worth the investment to hire a virtual assistant to do this method for you. I have never used a virtual assistant for anything but I have heard that you can hire 1 for as little as $2 an hour.

  • My number 1 cheap traffic source is posting in facebook groups promoting cpa offers. Many people don't realize how well this still works if done correctly.
    • [ 2 ] Thanks

    • What strategy are you using to promote your CPA offers? I am still learning the ropes in this particular area. I am on Maxbounty but trying to figure out how to promote my offers without them being easily seen by people as affiliate stuff.

I would be glad if you can share with us how you are doing it and achieving success.

  • Twitter is an inexpensive social media venue. Hey, check out "Promoted Tweet" prices.

Blogs ads is a great low cost way to gain exposure.

    Also, Pinterest has promoted pins.

Taboola is great for people who have content that is unique.

If you are a web designer, Project Wonderful is an awesome resource. They have thousands of partners and you can get clicks for less than one penny. This is my favorite place to rec.

Frankly, there are a lot of great traffic sources.

    • Last time I checked..It look like you are paying about .40 per click from twitter. Compared to the other social media sites...that's not very cheap.

  • Spamming your shop.com affiliate link on the Warrior Forum: free traffic. Ironically, what the thread is about. Sort of.

    .
  • I had one guy offer eight hours for $1.50 or $0.18 per hour.

That's a desperate camper, right there.
  • nice one, gotta subscribe to this thread.
  • It doesn't matter as you have quoted the affiliate link, so it will still be there.

The thing to do is report. I've already reported this idiot twice in the last five minutes. A couple more and they will disappear.

    • I have also reported them for spamming this thread.
  • Here's a few:

    1) Bing Ads

    2) Mobile advertising

    3) Solo ads

    4) Joint ventures

    5) Advertising on non-competitive sites in your niche

    6) Start your own affiliate program
  • Wow. Great advice here guys! Thanks!

Now, I like Youtube. What I do is create 1 minute commercials. I try not to go past 1:30 in length because after 1 minute 50% viewers will click off. So I will create the video where I give the compelling offer at the 1 minute mark. This is the outline I use...

    1. Introduce Yourself Briefly
    2. Tell the viewer you know why they are there watching your video. (Tell them you know reason why they are there listening to you and that you have been there before). This builds instant rapport and trust.
    3. Tell them that you have a solution to their problems, and that you would like to share it with them. Here you have to build up the program. Tell them how it is going to make a difference in their life.
    4. Give a compelling offer. This is the most important part...say that the BEST part is__________!
    5. Call To Action - Tell them to find out more click on the link below the video.

    Some other important points...
-Send them to a capture page.
-Create Mystery in your video. Don't tell them the name of the product or company you are promoting. You have to make them curious so that they will opt-in.
-Again, keep it short. 1 to 1-1/2 minutes. Most people don't have time to see long videos. They want the solution now.
-Your goal is not to sell them anything...you goal here is to get the opt-in, to capture their email.
-You can use a powerpoint or live video. Live videos convert better, but they both convert.

Well, that how I do it. It works extremely well, and it works for online as well as offline businesses. And the great thing is that it's 100% FREE traffic.

Hope you got some value guys.

    Take it easy!

  • Hey - great thread!

    Some other ideas:

    - Slideshare - write a 4 page pdf and upload (no fewer than 4 pages or you won't be able to include clickable links) If it contains good search-worthy content you'll get traffic.
    - Stumbleupon: can deliver huge traffic: use the NEXTScripts WP plugin to push blog posts there, but avoid spamming.
    - Now experimenting with video comments on Amazon products which is showing promise. Upload a review video of a product related to yours - if you're selling it on Amazon yourself (incl Kindle) you can include a clickable link to your product page - cool eh? (Anyone else tried this?)
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • Wow, never even heard of the Amazon Videos. Nice one. Can we only include links back to Amazon product pages?
  • Some dating sites, like PlentyOfFish, let you advertise using highly targeted demographics. For example, you can target single working moms between 19 and 35. As long as your product/service fits that demographic, for example, it should drive traffic to your offer.
  • It's been mentioned ( on here) but still seems to get overlooked and that is simple Blog Commenting. Especially on high profile Blogs. You need to make very helpful comments . That is directly related to what is being discussed.

I also like the Google Alerts and it can be very effective
    • [1] reply
    • I agree. Subscribe to Google Alerts and then comment on the blogs in the alerts Google sends you. Subscribe for multiple words so the number of alerts you receive increases.

This is an action item that does not take long to do everyday and can lead to some good cheap traffic. The only cost is a little bit of your time everyday.
  • I like slideshare.

Create a presentation of 10-15 slides and upload it. I love the SEO power behind SlideShare. Then go on Fiverr or here on Warrior Forum and spend $5 or $10 or so on links to your slideshare. Get high rankings fairly quickly and get lots of traffic for free ...

I created one presentation 4 days ago - 2K views already. Created another presentation nearly 3 weeks ago - 22K views. Make sure that the cover looks great, what's inside - up to you.

    • Great share!

I will definitely try this method out!!!
    • @mzonas Can you explain/expand on the SEO power of SlideShare?
  • I'd definitely do with Facebook Carousel ads. I've been building out a type of viral site and I'm getting clicks for 0.005-0.02 using quizzes.
  • I was skeptical when I saw the title but this was an excellent thread! Thanks for initiating it and sharing great, credible sources.

    • You do know that asking people to PM on a thread is against forum rules...right?

If you did not know this...I suggest you take the time to read the forum rules if you value using this forum.
    • Almost a year later, and the spam links are still live in the quoted posts.

I know the posts I quoted above are almost a year old, but the spam links are still there even though the spammer is long gone.

webmarke, if you want to help the situation, take a couple of minutes to edit those two posts and delete the spam links.

For anyone else compelled to quote spam links, please take a few seconds to delete the spam url and replace it with something like spam link removed.

Read the whole thread. It's in there.

  • In my 8 years online I can tell you one thing - looking for cheap you'll always get cheap back.
    • [1] reply
    • There is no such things CHEAP TRAFFIC; you either pay your hard-earned money or precious time in bringing traffic that converts. Tell me whether your money is cheap, or time is cheap. Video marketing can be very cost effective if you know how to create animated videos on-the-fly. A YouTube channel in combination with video ads can be a good recipe for those who can make high-quality videos. Its not newbie friendly, however. You need both content (time and creativity) and money, but can be huge profitable.
  • Is there a, sub-conscious, false premise here?

Are you inadvertently equating cheap sources of traffic as the best source?

For anyone who is, you're looking through the wrong end of the telescope. It's not about the cheapest source of traffic, it's about the most effective source of traffic.

For me, and many others, this can often be the most expensive source.

But, of course, being the most expensive is also not the measure to be evaluated, it's the cost-per-sale metric that really determines whether 'cheap' or 'expensive' is most effective for your business.

(NB by expensive I equate not only in monetary terms but also time spent or effort expended or all three.)

In any case, good luck with your venture.
  • my thoughts, I could be wrong.

But I spend alot of time online.

TWITTER = Dead dying painful death.

FACEBOOK = Still good, like the grand daddy.

INSTAGRAM = HOLY Heck, this bad boy is growing like crazy!!! If you not on instagram you are missing out. New kid on the block or the next facebook. :-)
