how do you stay very productive online?

Hey awesome warriors!

I'm looking for your input on this question;

how do you stay as productive as possible when working online?

I would love to get your feedback and learn from each response.

I'm currently implementing the Pomodoro Technique. Which is focusing on a task for 25 minutes at a time.

Have you implemented, or are implementing, the Pomodoro Technique?

Your contribution is much appreciated!

Thank you!

I saw an article on Time.com, that says research shows that the most productive employees spent 52 minutes on work related tasks, and then took a break of 17 minutes.

Personally I find getting away from my computer for a break regularly helps me to stay focused, as I tend to find my mind wanders after too long.

UPDATE: I just found the link to the article if anyone wants to read it

I agree with taking frequent breaks after a period of focused work.

It really helps to take short breaks than taking really long breaks. That's what I'm experiencing at least.

      Thanks for your response here!

I address immediate problems or brick walls, find a solution then attack the issue until it's fixed. No breaks, just work until it's sorted. Then I chill with a movie as reward for a productive day. I had a problem today, I addressed it. You helped. I'm now acting on your advice hence this reply.

          Great approach man!

That could be a good way to get the things done that needs to get done. I agree.

I also like to reward myself after putting in some productive work.

Work hard and play hard, right!

          Thanks for your response!

I'm working for an hour, then I'm taking 15 minutes break. I repeat this three times, then I'm taking 2 hours break. Then I repeat the process all over again. It works for me.

I think that Pomodoro technique is great. I'm using it as well. Most of the time 30 minutes work than 5 minutes pause.

I'm not sure if you were solely asking about productivity in a sense of work time vs rest time but I find that in order to maximise productivity I first need to make a small list of tasks to complete. This is usually the night before so when in bed you haven't got any doubts on you mind about what you need to do. Don't make the list to comprehensive, the should be completed in 10-15 minutes.
Get all the important/hard stuff done first thing in the morning. Otherwise other tasks can be viewed as procrastination and put you off from the important tasks at hand.
I just had a look at the 'Time' article and believe it to fit naturally with my attention span. So definitely incorporating this could help.

    Good luck my friend

      THank you for sharing!

That seems like a good plan to be productive and attack the most important tasks right away. I agree that it is important to prioritize your list.

      I appreciate your input here

By not multitasking but trying to focus on one project at a time.
That has helped me concentrate and complete projects instead
    of leaving tasks half done.

I do agree that taking good breaks and taking them often can really help. This is one focus of the Pomodoro technique. Working for only 25 minutes and taking 5 to 10 minutes break.

I read (and now apply this with success) that writing 4 tasks down on a note card (not anything electronic) - just old school note card, and keeping it in pocket, keeps me very focused on my 4 things I need to get done. I add some others below it, but make sure I do the other 4 first. Then time isn't wasted on lesser important things.

Set goals and create daily plans to reach those goals. Eat that frog first thing in the morning. You'll be done in 2 to 4 hours having the rest of the day to do whatever...

My technique to stay focused and very productive while working online is to stay away from things that distract me the most. Some of those are Facebook messenger, Twitter, and Instagram. I also limit myself from using mobile phone unless it's an important matter.

I smash out as much as I can in one sitting without breaks, Quite often I forget to eat. I make a to-do list every day as I think of various things throughout the day to do tomorrow.

It took a while to get into this habit, but I've got a system that works now and my girlfriend brings me food so I don't have to get up haha.
