Just the basics. Find a niche market to target those in demand for something, whereas supply is weak or doesn't offer a good solution. Try to market/advertise whatever it is you are going to offer better than the competition.

The first order of business for you is to discover your niche. You do that with market research in identifying holes or gaps in the marketplace that you might fill with a paid solution.

When you focus your business on a tight niche, you don't need to be concerned with every general marketplace . . . you just need to stand out in your niche market.

Provide the kind of business experience and products that you would want to find if you were a passionate consumer in your niche. Market your business like you would want to be marketed to. Often, that means going above and beyond what your competitors are willing to do for their customers.

Why do you want your product to reach 'millions of houses'?

You don't need a million customer to make $1,000,000.

The mantra to becoming a successful internet marketer is using just 1 system. Follow through with that system and get focused.

That system can be email marketing, affiliate marketing, kindle publishing, Amazon FBA etc.

There are a million ways to make $1 million.

They key is to stick with ONE system.

To 'stand out' from the crowd implies doing something different. The truth is, you don't need to reinvent the wheels if you want to make $1,000,000. What you need is:

Passion.

Focus.

A profitable system.

I would rather give one line answers to each of your questions.

1. What is the mantra to become a successful internet marketer?
Ans. Learn from the well-learned. Start following successful internet marketers. Listen, listen and listen.
2. (i didn't catch this question).
3. What is that little extra thing that we need to put in our website to make it a hit?
Ans. First, prove that you are different from others (USP). Second, add value to your customers.
4.How to fetch maximum number of clicks?
Ans. TBH, answering this will take months to write lol. My advice: Do everything that grabs ATTENTION.

The secret of any business is "to differentiate". You could dive into any niche but if you adding value, you will most definitely make headway.

Do not try to re-invent the wheel while at it.

The problem is people duplicating other peoples ideas and business.

If there is no competition, it can't be a profitable niche. Here's a niche I just thought of. Make-up artistry for cadavers. How profitable do you think that could be?

Done right, it could be very profitable. Think about a course targeting morticians and funeral directors who want their "clients" to look like they might wake up at any time.

If you want to stand apart in any market, you need to successfully answer two questions:

1. Why should people buy what I offer (the product or service)?

2. Why should they buy it from me (without using fluffy words like "lowest price" or "best quality" or "great service")?

Answering the second is usually the harder of the two. One way to find something you can be different at is to read reviews, especially the 1- and 2-star reviews. For physical products, look at sites like Amazon or Best buy. For services, look at sites like Yelp or Angie's List (now that she took down the paywall). Look for trends that bother people, even little things.

For example, the company that maintains my air conditioner noticed that a lot of reviewers complained that techs were dirty and tracked mud on their carpets. This company's techs show up in clean uniform shirts and put little paper booties on their shoes if they have to come in the house.

Another example is a company that emails you a photo of the tech they're sending so you can check him out before opening your door.

Both companies are doing very well, get a bunch of referral business, and neither are the cheapest in their market. Small points of difference can make big differences.

Now you're just being ridiculous. These make-up skills are taught at all accredited mortuary schools. The cosmetology courses, alone range in price from $6,500 - to $10,000. There is no market for this type of training outside of that. If there were, it would exists.

Personally, I would have no interest in viewing a body that was made-up so well that it gave the appearance that it could leap out of the casket at any moment. I doubt anyone else does, either.

That said, I'm more than happy to come up with a wide-array of non-competitive, non-profitable niches for you - if you are looking for a career change. :-)

I haven't checked, but I'm guessing that the profession has continuing education requirements. When I held an insurance license and a real estate license, you wouldn't believe the courses that qualified as "continuing education."

As for such a course existing, it may just mean you haven't found it yet.

One mortician that used to be in my Toastmasters group always said that he tried to make the deceased look like they were sleeping. A good makeup job accomplished that, and families appreciated their loved one looking natural as opposed to looking like a wax statue.

I didn't say this idea would be profitable. I said it might, if approached correctly. But one thing is sure, it's a lot easier for teenage girls to peddle warpaint to other teenage girls.

So there is no misunderstanding . . .

I didn't say "where there is no competition." Those are Tyronne's words.

My own feelings are that you find a money niche, then position your business in such a way that you are not directly competing with every other business in the niche.

To stand apart from the crowd, you must be different in ways that the niche prospects will see as valuable and compelling.

Sometimes being different means you have products that carry much more quality and usefulness than other similar products.

Sometimes being different means you cater to the specific needs of your prospects with customer service that is like no other in the niche.

Sometimes being different means you provide a product or service that has never before been introduced in the niche.

Sometimes being different means you allow your prospects to tell you exactly what they want instead of you assuming you know what is best for your audience.

I'm saying . . . be different than your competition . . . but I have never said to go into niches where there is no competition. There is a big difference.

testing, testing, testing - makes frequent changes and count the clicks of every version

most important: There are times when your parents dont believe you, your wife doesnt trust you, your friends think you;re a looser, all potential girl friends tell you that you will never make it.

and you ignore them all - and persist in your dream - and succeed

happened to me, and the ALL came around and wanted to get involved

i dumped them all, except my parents - i forgave them for their ignorance
and my wife - i forgave her her unfaithfulness

It's generally true that profitable niches have competition. However, keep in mind that things are always changing and there are some areas where there is no competition yet because the idea is so new.

A few years ago, Kurt started a site about Lebron James I believe it was. He was a nobody and maybe even still in high school. There would be no competition for anything related to him at the time. But soon there was. Big time.

Drones were something used only by the military until just recently. Now it's becoming a big industry for civilian use. E-cigarettes at one time had no competition. SAAS, "the cloud", autoresponders, and every other invention at first had no competition.

So yes, choose wisely. But make sure of the reason there is no competition before writing an idea off.

Valid points all, but if you add those all up and add a few you may have missed, it's a number smaller than the number of people that have won the Power Ball in the past couple of years.

Your odds of finding a niche like any you mentioned are about the same odds as buying that winning ticket. :-)

My little contribution to this thread will be this: HOW DO I STAND APART IN THE CROWD OF INTERNET MARKETING?

I go to lengths that other people won't/can't go to with my Online Business endeavors.When I find something that saves me time or makes me money etc. on ANY level, I am relentless on figuring out a way to scale it up as sky high as possible.

- If I find an ad site that works, I create multiple accounts, or join tons of similar ones just like it.
- If I can make money paying someone to surf for me on a Traffic Exchange site, I hire 5 or more people to do the exact same thing (using multiple browsers etc)
- If I have tasks that requires routine monotonous clicking, I either outsource it or implement some sort of auto-clicking automation

Millions of houses? Why?

You and others have rec'd some good advice. What you don't have is a clear view of your goal, and that will often give you the HOW.

I once had a list into the thousands of people, and I reduced that to less than 2500, who have been loyal BUYERS for a decade or longer. Sometimes the fewer the better.

We have a local tailor, who has been at it nearly 50 years and has sons who have gotten into the family business. Almost all of his business is repeat or referrals. If you are referred to him, he sets an hour aside to meet with you uninterrupted, to take your measurements, get a feel for your style.

He lives in one of the nicest homes in the area, has everything he wants, and by accounts nets a quarter of a million a year, doing what he loves and is good at.

Online, back in 1998, a guy (Bill Meyers) was charging $1,000.00 for a one year membership in his Idea Bank web site. He had over 75 members, including me. Bill started his year off with 75,000 dollars, not a bad way to start your year, is it?

He is still going strong today, doing much less direct work, because he caters to a select FEW.

If you think you really WANT to send a product to millions of homes, then find a model, of someone who did/does it. Know this to be true: you multiply your headaches and employees when growing that big.

What do you REALLY WANT?

Any answer you come up, we can probably show you a model, call it a blueprint or template of how to go about achieving it.

Your worries are meaningless, you need to focus on what you want, then find a way to do it...that is what the winners in IM do.

PS. I love huge markets. It tells me there is money being spent. I just try to figure out how to enter that parade, find the flute players in the marching band, and cater to them...and leave the drummers, tuba players and trumpet blowers to someone else. Always a way to niche down in big market.

from my side..NEWBIE side...

i'd say trust yourself and take daily action. I too have a number of questions..but the only thing that can make a difference in whatever your doing...is yourself...people can offer advise ..what u do with it is up to you...learn all you when u can...and just make a start.
