How Host mp3 for Download?

For an opt-in incentive, I want to offer an mp3. (GetResponse is my mailing platform). I'm using a Genesis theme with the Genesis eNews Extended plugin to present the signup form. What's the best way to deliver the mp3? I'm thinking I would like folks to be directed to a download/play link as soon as they sign up... but where do I host the file to pull that off and how to I get them from the signup form to the download? Suggestions?

You can redirect to a download page via your "custom thank you " page in GR. Alternatively, you could mail the link in your first follow-up message.

  • You could use an off server location such as https://aws.amazon.com/s3, which Brent already recommended. Another solution, if you want to keep everything on your web server with Wordpress is Easy Digital Downloads. This is a free, powerful and extendable Wordpress plugin.

It will allow certain users to access certain downloads (free and paid versions). You can capture not only the user email for your autoresponder, but automatically sign your customer up to your website where they can have their own own custom back end user interface to download all files which they have been given access to.

  • Why don't you just upload it via ftp to your server and deliver it on the thank you page? No need to pay for amazon aws when you've got a server yourself. Unless your traffic is huge that it breaks down the server of course.

  • Thank you all for the input. Much appreciated.
