Running special deals for Valentines Day

With Valentines Day coming up, I thought it'd be interesting to discuss special promotions on big days. At Warrior Forum, we obviously participated in Black Friday (+Cyber Monday), but I can't really see a tie-in with something like Valentines Day, so we'll probably skip it.

Do any of you run promotions on special days when there's no obvious connection between your business and the day? Does it work?

Showing the Love on Valentines day can be more than just buying chocolate for your special luvey dove. Implementing discounts, buy one get one free etc...are also forms of Love

I've always done exceptionally well on Valentine's Day (as well as every other holiday) by promoting seasonally relevant products on Amazon.

What typically sells on Valentine's Day is jewelry, personalized gifts, flowers (big time), gift baskets, chocolates, intimate apparel, and even exercise equipment.

You could add an inflatable mattress and sleeping bag as bonuses, because someone will end up sleeping in the garage...

It is tough if one is in B2B. It's hilarious to even think of it lol.

Don't be to quick to laugh. The Florist shop has to buy vases. So the Business that sells vases to the Florist shop, will get an increase in business. I can think of a few more B2B wins for this one day Holiday.
20 billion dollars in business took place for this Holiday in 2016. (Source - http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/dat...nomic-progress)

Some one promoting meet singles or dating sites will get a decent up tick in traffic this time and maybe sales.

Are you joking? The executive gift giving market is huge, and this demographic typically spends lavishly for their significant others, peers, business contacts, and generally for their employees.

I don't think it will work on Valentines Day. More to annoy people. There are single people and not married.

We didn't do so much as a Valentine's Offer this year but kep promoting along the lines of "fast turnaround".

There was quite a bit of business done between Saturday and the COB today from desperate individuals who left things too late.

No discounts needed to be offered.

We charge a premium for the priority service so we improve profitability over the period.

This also works for all special occasions, Xmas, Birthdays, Mother's day, Father's day etc.

There are always a group of people who leave things to the last minute and during that period of desperation the price becomes more elastic in our favour.

    Best regards,

    Ozi
