Launching a New IM Product

It all depends on how detailed and comprehensive you want your launch to be. The idea, of course, is to "prep" or prepare your audience in advance of the launch so they are looking forward to owning and using your product.

Additionally, the preparation for the launch can include getting affiliates on board, gaining testimonials and other social proof for your sales letter, and setting up/testing your financial transaction and delivery system.

All of these things and much more are included in Jeff Walker's little book titled Launch. I would suggest you purchase a copy (very inexpensive paperback) and study what it says as Jeff is the recognized authority in the subject.

IM is NOT a niche. Look at WF, see all the sub forums, each a niche in IM.

There is not a best strategy, it depends on your longer range goals, which launch strategy to use, one size does NOT fit all.

Why not start with a simple little digital product to collect names and create a list? A tested and proven way to go.

Launch strategy does not differ (of course targeting, content, etc...does) by niche...

1) Set up your sales funnel which can be as simple as a single opt-in/landing page to sales page or more complex with an opt-in/landing page to several offers/upsells as well as a back-end content strategy that will warm your prospect and move them toward sale

2) Test that funnel against a combination of paid and organic traffic (to get the organic traffic use techniques such as blogging, forums, videos, social, streams, etc...)

3) When you are comfortable with the results, then seek out some partners by reaching out with review copies of your product, showing them your early conversion numbers from your test, generating some content they can use to promote so that you have a handful (at least) of strong partners for your launch

4) Execute like crazy...work your butt off to get as much exposure and publicity as possible for the 3-4 weeks leading up to your launch

Key to all of this is that the product attracts interest and is of good quality that you get some early champions on board that demonstrate results from what you have packaged.
