So here is my plan...

1. Buy domain and build website (already done).

2. Make it legit with main benefits and not really a sales letter, just main points (already done).

3. Add product image and opt-in form for "instant access" (already done).

4. Upon confirmation, send subscriber to a page that says something like "We are actually in the process of a MAJOR re-write... ETC... so in the meantime we'll send you some cool stuff via email... ETC... stay tuned.

5. Then have a follow up series like this:

--- Instant email that says exactly the same thing as the page does on step 4.
--- The next day, pure interesting content with no affiliate links.
--- Two days later, some more interesting content with no affiliate links.
--- Two days later, some more interesting content with no affiliate links.
--- Two days later, which is ONE week or seven days after they signed up, throw in a testimonial type email about what people said about your PREVIOUS product, and remind them about how you're actually improving that product, and you're just putting the finishing touches on it.
--- The next day, time to pitch your product and let them know it's ready to download.
--- Two days later, some more interesting content with no affiliate links.
--- Two days later, some more interesting content with no affiliate links.
--- Two days later, which is TWO weeks or fourteen days after they signed up, throw in another testimonial type email about what people are saying about your CURRENT product and remind them they can download it immediately.
--- The next day, pitch your product again and let them know it's ready to download.
--- Two days later, some more interesting content with no affiliate links.
--- Two days later, some more interesting content with no affiliate links.
--- Two days later, which is THREE weeks or twenty-one days after they signed up, throw in another testimonial type email about what people are saying about your CURRENT product and remind them they can download it immediately.
--- The next day, pitch your product again and let them know it's ready to download.
--- Two days later, some more interesting content with no affiliate links.
--- Two days later, some more interesting content with no affiliate links.
--- Two days later, which is FOUR weeks or twenty-eight days after they signed up, throw in another testimonial type email about what people are saying about your CURRENT product and remind them they can download it immediately.
--- The next day, send them one final pitch because if they don't trust you by now... good luck lol

Not sure if I should promote the community for niche enthusiasts that I run during the sales follow up, or once they make a purchase. I am thinking once they buy, so I can invite them to the community where they can setup their own blog like wordpress.com (only on my server) and share their experiences and insights, whilst networking with other like minded individuals. Other benefits of this would mean they see more industry related ads from me, which are just affiliate links on rotation through my ad server, i have their details and can contact ALL community members say once a month with a newsletter spotlighting member blogs and throwing in a promotion here and there, plus they are my target market, so i can also keep track of what solutions they need and then present them in a safe and non-threatening way.

Then have a separate follow up for buyers, which I am still working on. Will post that when I decide upon my plan off attack, but it will be good!

So what are your thoughts?

P.S. This is not IM related, just a niche.

My question is why you don't mix content with links earlier? Strike when the iron is hot? They have 3-4 opporunities to lose interest :S

It could work, and I'm sure if they like the content they will stay on, but see if they leave the autoresponder after a certain email and make sure you sell them quickly.

See, peopel do not like to be sold, but if they are "INFLUENCED" then they rationalize the sale logically and emotionally. They "defend" their purchase to friends and family, because they think it's a good decision.

Looks like you are a little too afraid of "the selling", and would like to be more of their "informaion center", but truth be told, you make more money "selling the actual information" and motivating them with your free content, showing what's possible and give reasons to take action.

Don't be afraid to be a little more agressive, that's my 2 cents.

yeah i see where you're coming from... the product isn't finished yet but i am already getting ready SEO wise... i guess i could do the above as initially planned whilst finishing the product and doing SEO... then once the product is ready... change the follow up

so then i could leave the article/interesting information emails as they are... but weave links into the content so if they want to buy... they have the link then and there right in front off them... better?

Start selling early so you can educate your subscribers that you
are a person selling something or recommending something. If you
take 2 whole weeks to start selling, you might incur the "Oh, so
you're just like one of THEM. Trying to get my money, you don't
    care!" and crap like that.

Filter it out early by selling early...

    All the best!

so you think i should have a sales page with a javascript type popup as opposed to a squeeze page that redirects to a sales page once they confirm their email subscription?

the above idea came about because the product doesn't yet exist... so i need a way to string people along until it's ready lol... but so far the feedback is to SELL SELL SELL i am happy to do that too as that will put food on the table... so is it fair to say that the above is fine whilst there is no product? but should be more 'promotional' once the product is ready?

No, what I mean is in the emails that you send out... to
    recommend an affiliate product.

Your sales page can come later but to start the money
rolling, recommend affiliate products. When the products
ready to go, replace the affiliate links to the sales page.

    Hope that makes sense.

yeah sweet... that does make sense... i actually have the website that my autoresponder re-directs to upon confirmation to another affiliate offer... but adding even that affiliate offer into emails sounds like a good idea... means i can actually set a redirect URL and add it to all emails... and then simply change the redirect location so that all emails and links are updated at once... awesome (thanks!)
