Getting Started from Nothing

I've been lurking for a while and just recently joined, I've read through countless threads and watched numerous youtube videos. I've gone as far as starting a wordpress page/domain. I've been going back and forth on what direction I really want to go. Assuming starting with no followers and not leveraging old facebook friends is it possible to do affiliate online marketing? I've been looking at all of the paid courses and can't see the value as it seems most of those making courses are making most of their money off of the courses!

What I'm looking to do is join an affiliate network assuming I can pass the phone interview with no real experience and explaining my plan of utilizing facebook groups, instagram, etc... and fumbling through it and learn. It seams as though the hardest part is to just start and try it out, learn something even if your not successful. Is this the best way to start out rather than spending $400-$1,000 on a course? I know the info is out there for free, its just a matter of wading through all the B.S.

How would you move forward? Is it possible to join an affiliate network without a successful social following or blog site?

why would you spend $400.00-$1,000.00 for a course when there is some really great free information here, and on the web. Use the search function here as well as on google and you will be surprised at what you can learn. There are also plenty of great courses for less than $50.00

Usually not that much, there's only so much you can teach when it comes to starting an online business.

The reason why some courses are so expensive is because they might offer more personalized help like coaching, office hours, community etc.

You don't really need a course to get started either. If you have the time, patience and know-how when it comes to searching on Google, you will be able to find everything for free.

A course on starting an online business is usually more of a convenient way of finding said information in one spot., which is totally fine by me if some people just don't have the time to search for the information themselves.

Some people would rather pay money to have a problem fixed. For example:

With enough will, time and know-how you can find out how to repair your broken computer. But you'd rather pay someone who is already there to fix it for you, right?

            Keep that in mind

Usually depends on the results and clarity and posture of the course creator.

Example; I retired to a life of travel through blogging. I have appeared on Richard Branson's Virgin blog, Forbes, Entrepreneur and Fox News. So for my flagship course, which is a soup to nuts, fundamental solution for building a successful blog, I charge $350. I would not sell it for $50 because when one appears on trusted, famous sites, and have carved out a neat life for themselves and for their readers who have followed their advice, the natural progression is to charge what the program is worth.

I also sell lower priced courses and a ton of $3.99 eBooks for folks who are struggling financially, offering them helpful resources that are in a different level as far as robustness but are still helpful to folks, providing solutions.

IMO the best thing to do is just start. It sounds like you are just going back and forth and not moving forward. Just pick something and start, the longer you wait the harder and longer it will get. Just start!

You're right I am going back and forth, the main reason is I keep questioning myself. Sometimes it seems like a great idea other times it just seems foolish... I do believe I need to pick a direction and just go with it, worst case is that I learn what not to do!

How did you start a blog without deciding what your target market is?

How many posts have you added to the blog? What have you done so far to bring traffic to the blog? What are your future plans for that blog?

Are you looking for 'affiliate programs' that provide products for you to sell on commission....or for 'programs' that take you by the hand and teach you what to do?

If you have put up your blog - work on it. Choose your target market - decide what you will use to monetize your blog now or eventually - learn to bring traffic to your site...step by step is how you do it. If you don't understand something - use google and forum search and learn what to do about that one thing - then keep going.

Wow, thanks everyone for the all the responses it is nice to see this community is so active!
The blog I started is more of a test for myself based on a niche that I have personal interest in that I felt I could generate content for myself and learn along the way how to:
      1. Build a blog site
      2.Generate content
      3. Explore hiring copy writers/feature other content
      4. Drive traffic towards the blog
      5. Learn to use the blog with affiliate links
I started the blog after looking at some off the affiliate programs and seeing that they require some sort of experience or demonstration of your ability to acquire some sort of social following and drive traffic just to join. Some offer free courses, but only to people that have been accepted into their program. After more research it seems as though you can possibly pass the phone interview if you just explain your intent and that you are competent and being honest about your experience or lack of experience.

I honestly haven't gotten very far on the blog, I've only posted one article and set up the page. I go back and forth on whether it is the right direction and worth the investment in time. I wasn't sure if this was the direction I really want to go in, since it seems if you join an affiliate network you may need to build a blog or facebook page based on the offers available rather than building a site then looking for offers.

Do you feel passionate about the blog topic? Do you love the topic enough that you'd work it without ever making a cent? If you answer "yes" to both, you have the foundation for a successful blog and also, will feel it is worth the time investment.

If either answer is "no", you will fail miserably, and will either know you are wasting your time, or will continually question yourself

I personally started by just doing research and learning as I went along. As you probably know...that takes a lot of time and you make a lot of mistakes going that route.

These days there are companies that have a done for you model that you can follow. In other words...they run the business and your job is to just send traffic to the offer.

there are pros and cons with this approach, but you can start there and still learn how to do the things yourself and then eventually run your own business.

If I were to restart from scratch...here is what I would do.

    1. Build my email list - set up a simple sales funnel which consist of a landing page, a front end product to promote, and at least 5 to 10 emails in the follow up series.

    2. Add content to my blog where I can send my email list to. This helps to build up traffic to your blog and build a relationship with your email list. The traffic to your blog can be monetised with affiliate products in your blog too.

Again, this is a simple summary and it is not meant to be a get rich quick blueprint or anything.

And the reason you are paying for a course is this...the information inside the course is properly organised so that you will be able to take action in the shortest period of time.

Some times, you will discover methods which will help your online business and often, you would not have thought of those yourself. Surely, there will be free information if you search it up, but the mind does not knows what the eyes cant see.

Sometimes, you pay for information and knowledge which will otherwise take you a lot of time to actually acquire them.

If you are looking into CPA networks, it might be difficult to get into the networks because you still do not have a clear plan of what you are going to do.

If you are in the make money online niche, head on to WarriorPlus and create an account and look for affiliate products which you think you can promote.

If you are in other niche, try ClickBank. You do not need approval to actually promote the products there.

    Hope this helps!

Not going to happen on a network worth promoting.

You're trying to go from the beginning to the end with out the in-between.

Start with the basics. Keep working on your blog even if you have to delete it and start over. Experience is what you lack and that takes time.

Study email marketing, traffic generation and social media marketing.

I spent my first six months studying and building test sites and deleting them. I learned a staggering amount and six months later I had my first online commission. $10 in my PayPal!!

I guess it if sounds to good to be true it probably is then! Rather than asking what networks are worth joining I'll focus on gaining the experience since it it is irrelevant until then.

You're trying to go from the beginning to the end with out the in-between
I hadn't really though about it this way or realized where the beginning and end is. Back to basics... the blog is where I'm going to focus and stop worrying about the quality of every post otherwise I'll never get anything posted. I don't know why wiping it and starting over in the future didn't occur to me, simple things I guess.

Where you building landing pages or blogs for your test sites?

Researching here on Warrior can give you the clarity, the insights and the confidence to pick a few established mentors, and to perhaps invest in a course if you resonate with it. As a rule, the guys who provide real, genuine value here, in a generous way, put out similar, real, genuine, helpful products void of BS.

If you see a ton of helpful responses, zero in on those guy's products.

I think the great majority of people who come online are stuck because they are trying to full understand this IM Beast before taking the action.

This action is the real learning.

No matter what you do, what you read or what you buy...you will still make mistakes!

Just pick one thing to sell and pick another thing to market it. And master those 2 things.

Lastly...don't be afraid to buy courses. You don't have to buy the most expensive ones.

But there is some good ones out there...find them.

Not all of them will be to die for.

This is a great resource...Warrior. Yes!

But the people who lurk around here reading for free can end up reading for years!

I once had a guy Private Message me here for help.

    Kept calling himself newbie.

I asked him how long he has been online 'learning'.

    He said 10 years.

    I said...Holy Shit!

Yeah it is possible to join an affiliate network without a successful social following. All you need to provide to them is your experience. What can you do?

If you have no experience then educate yourself with affiliate marketing, starting with a sales funnel.

It really boil down to how bright and how motivated you are. If you're a slow learner then you might want to spend some money on a good course or coach. That way, you won't waste more $$$ on testing something you have no idea in.

If you're on a budget, then you can always google or search here and learn piece by piece.

My apology for answering your question from the bottom top the top.

It is too hard to start from Zero. If one can invest some money, he will be able to success easily. If you are a big zero in case of money , you need to have some experience of work. Without skill, you will not be able to earn even a single amount of money. Thanks for your advance.

The biggest flaw with free info is when you get advice
from 1,000 people, you will end up with 1,000 different
ways to get started from zero. In this case, analysis
    can lead to paralysis.

I've done the "find the free info" thing, and I've
done the paid info/coach/mentor thing. The
paid route was the fastest and most lucrative
because it was a shortcut to where I wanted
to go. Plus, I was able to reap a return on
    my investment a lot quicker.

The free route works somewhat, but it takes
an incredibly long time to sift through all those
blogs, YouTube videos, ebooks, and websites
before you find some decent information you
    can actually use.

It sounds like you want to go after CPA so
that's awesome. To increase your chances of
getting approved by a network, I suggest you
join Clickbank and/or ShareASale which does
not require an interview to be approved.
Then pick several products and write a blog
    post to review the products.

Let the networks see that you have put
some effort into affiliate marketing so they
will give you a chance. I'm a member of
MaxBounty and Peerfly and they do NOT
allow advertising in FB groups. But they will
allow you to purchase paid advertising on
    FB.

If you're ok with buying FB ads, then focus
your attention on learning more about it.
Run some $5 FB test ads until you come
up with a winning ad. Use clickbank
or shareAsale for practice. When you start
making sales, you can let the CPA network
    know about your results.

This is pretty much what I've found with free info is that its either not credible or its bait to sign up for some expensive course. I'd like to use my time more effectively so I think some sort of organized course is the way I'd like to go. I agree that it can be done for free, it is possible if you have the time to ween through the garbage or are lucky enough to find good sources.

I did join ClickBank for free and I'm looking to take their courses, the basic course is relatively inexpensive. From what I've read about it here on warrior forum is that they want you to buy a pretty expensive software package that streamlines the process of putting campaigns together. I think I can do without that though. I'm hoping this will be a good introduction and I can figure out what I'm needing more information on after taking it and I can focus on finding that information for free along with some trial and error.

$400 - $1,000 on a course about internet marketing? Those are the old school Jeff Paul and Dan Kennedy courses right there lol. Seriously you don't need to spend that much. You should know that it's very simple to make a sale online - and it doesn't have to be for a cheap price. Usually i experiment with low prices to test an offer and conversion rate, then once i make an analysis, i go with the better result. So just study here on the WF, and keep that $400 in your bank account and go see a movie tonite. Do this to get ready for your future career in online marketing for your online business.
