Need Advice On What My Next Move Should Be, What Would You Do?

Hey, I'd love to have your opinion on what you would do if you were in my position...

A little about how I fell into this

I have been working odd jobs my entire life (construction, driver, snowboard instructor, landscaping, retail stores). And right now im going on my 6th year working as a UPS driver...

I Fu*king hate working there and feel as if im wasting my time and could be helping people.

I started trying to make money online 3 years ago (started Jan of 2015) when a new friend of mine showed me how much money he was making from his blog (6,000$/Month).

Not only that... But this guy was traveling 6-7 months out of the year... He was like james bond, always going to a new place. (India, thailand, vietnam, U.S, Canada, Europe) having a blast along the way...

Needless to say, I was hooked and never looked back... I know exactly what type of lifestyle I want to have and I'm ready to do anything to achieve it...

Only problem is that it's taking way more time than I thought and my results are extremly low...

Where I am on my online journey

So I started doing kindle my first year and it "kind of" worked... I worked my ass off like a maniac for 4 months creating 20 little books (30-60 pages each - Most ghostwritten), and started making money.

It wasn't a lot, my first month I made 15$, second month 2,000$, 3rd month 500$, 4rth month 200$ and I have been consistently making 50$ to 100$ every month from my kindle to this day...

But I decided to change things up in the middle of 2015 because I realized that writing crappy short books could only make me money for a very short amount of time (until people realized that it was shit) and then the book would make nothing...

At the end of 2015, I decide to start focusing on building an actual brand with written blogs, videos and pictures on a subject that is very dear to me (yes the niche is profitable because many people are in it and are making money from it.)

So i worked my ass off for a full year and I was burning with excitement! Putting all of my extra time into my business, writting articles, building my blog (which can be very confusing at times), making videos and posting pictures...

After a year of working my ass off though, I hirerd a web designer off of craigslist to change a few things on my blog and after a few days of him working on it, I go on my laptaop to log into my website and.... white screen of death...

At first I thought It was only going to be temporary as that is what the web designer was assuring me... but he was not able to fix it and neither were the 5 other proffessional webdesigner that I hirerd to try and fix it...

It was all gone... my website was completly destroyed... In case you are as dumb as I was in my first year, GO GET YOUR WEBSITE BACKED THE F UP RIGHT NOW!...

Anyways, fastfoward to today, and I have a new blog (that is backed up daily), with 45 articles and as many videos...

What I tried on my new blog

So I started this new blog in jan 2017 and for the past year i have been writting keyword rich articles on my niche subject

I also have been making some videos on youtube

I have optins on my website and tell the people that watch my video to subscribe and sign up to my landing page.

But despite all this effort, nothing seems to be working (its EXTREMLY slow)... I only have 33 people on my email list after a full year of hard work...?

Its very discouraging and i dont know what im doing wrong...

Many people tell me that my articles are good and they are keyword rich, but googles sends me a grand total of ZERO traffic...

I think it was a major fail on my part to expect google to send me traffic for my articles, dosent work...

Anyways, i'd love to have someone (that owns a blog and makes money from it) take a look at my business and tell me what is my best bet to do next... Im kind of in a pickle right now...

Do I just keep doing what I was doing and hope that over time things will start to pick up?

My plan was to stop writting so much and switch my focus on making more videos... I could realistically make 100 quality videos in 2018... And also try and build an instagram presence...

Ive also written a book on my subject that send to my auto responder list every few post along with affiliate offers...

What I think the problem is

Traffic.

Simple enough...

Im preety sure my main issue is traffic and converting those people into email subscribers/followers...

It's obviously the lifeblood of any online business and im lacking in this area...

My plan is to create great videos and pitch my freeby at the end to grow my email list...

Id love to have 1,000 people on my email list before 2019.

My goal

I would probably explode of excitement if I was making 2,000$ per month before 2019 (that gives me 10 months).

But I just dont know how to make it happen... what would you do?

are you targeting keywords that have enough search volumes? because it's going to be useless if you are targeting keywords that only has a 1 or 2 audience. It's going to be a case to case basis - niche dependent.

Also, try using social media to expose your brand. I also assume that you are applying SEO strategies on your website (proper meta tags, etc)

    Hey Jake!

What a story. I can relate to you a lot, actually.

I started my blogging journey in 2010 and was a complete newbie. I'm a high school dropout and had many labor jobs growing up. So, just like you, I met someone making good money from the internet, from a blog.

I did not know what blogging was back then nor what a domain name was. Complete newbie, I'm telling you. I tried many niches. I started with the dating tips niche, failed there. Then went with the memory improvement / brain health niche and this is where I experienced a little bit of success. I also didn't have a lot of money to invest in courses on blogging and internet marketing so I'm self-educated on this topic. This is why it took me years to make things happen. I'm now making almost what your friend is making and it's a great feeling but it was not easy. This is why I'm here to help guys like you not make the same mistakes I've made.

Building the traffic to a blog online actually not as hard as you might think it is. The real challenge will come when you want to convert traffic into leads and sales, trust me here.

This is a very important lesson to learn as a new blogger. Blog Conversions is the most challenging. Traffic generation is easy compared to blog conversions.

Of course, you have to put in the work to build up the traffic consistently. I'm not saying it's a piece of cake, but it is very possible and within reach to build up targeted to your blog.

There are many ways to drive traffic to a blog, I highly recommend you to learn them all and then create your own custom marketing strategy. There are strategies that work almost immediately. For instance, you can do blog commenting and social media marketing to get traffic fast. If you follow the right steps daily you can be driving traffic daily right from the start.

Do not rely on organic traffic from the search engines. You will wait for a very long time. And you might not even have a fully optimized blog site and content to rank high in the search engines.

Instead, focus more on driving traffic, building your email list, and blog conversions. You have to work daily at this at the beginning. Don't look at your statistics too often (only look when you are working on conversions) just focus on delivering massive value to your niche audience.

Here is a helpful forum thread on blogging; https://www.warriorforum.com/main-in...ng-2018-a.html

I'd like to advise to learn more on the evolution of the Google Search Engine, understanding HOW Google is ranking content now will help you a lot to create optimized content for the search engine and benefit in the long run. here is a helpful article that will explain how to rank high in Google in 2018; https://www.mostlyblogging.com/how-does-rankbrain-work/

As far a traffic generation, you need to learn all of the strategies and craft a blueprint that you can follow daily. Here is a super helpful article on traffic generation; https://internetmarketingblog101.com...heet-for-free/

This is enough information for you to learn and get going on the right foot. Remember; work on the traffic generation daily and then work a lot more on the conversions!

Build your email list right away. If you really want this bad, you can reach your goals this year easy. Just put your mind to it man! Also, here is a great piece of advice, if you want blogging to pay you like a real business, then treat it like one!

I hope this helps ya a lot!

I'd love to check out your blog so please do share when you can. I'll give you my feedback and some pointers when I can.

Keep on going man! If I can do it, and many are doing it, you can too!

    Best regards!

  • Its not that hard as you think. Learning is the process that makes us grow. Do you focus more on keyword for search engines to search? Here are few tips that I can give you that I follow for my own
    1. Write some compelling titles that your users wanted to immediaely click.
    2. Invite your facebook fan page followers to like your site.
    3. Offer freebies for them to enroll on the email list.
    4. Reply to the queries in quora
    5. Use social media effectively by raising some questions that would motivate your followers to comment.

Better shift your mindset from free (blog, Instagram, Quora, Yahoo answers) to paid traffic route in order to see much better results. Just create one YouTube video and buy YouTube ads (its so far the cheapest) and drive traffic to your opt-in or product landing page.

You told you can make videos. Go to Fiverr and sell your video service. Invest the money you earn over there in video ads. Fiverr is no longer a $5 gig based market place. You can charge up to $995 per video if you're capable enough. Invest and re-invest the money you earn/generate in your business again.

I struggle taking my own advice...but you really need to now spend 80% of your effort marketing and promoting your site and 20% on content creation.

Generally, I suggest you create 2-3 pages on your site that are the best 2-3 pages on the topic on the Net. Each can take a week to create. These are the pages on your site that you promote. It's much easier to promote "the best" than "keyword rich" articles. The best resources will naturally gain links and shares, but only if they are promoted first.

Are your 20 Kindle books on the same subject as your blog? Can you take the best content from each to use for your "best" pages? Can you combine some of your "keyword articles", add some more stuff to make a couple of "best" pages?

You must have been doing something right to have made a few hundred or thousand $$$ in a month. I'm curious what your costs have been over the past 7 or 8 years.

I've been burned badly by Google and Amazon in the past. All it takes is a subtle change on their part and suddenly a major income stream is destroyed.

However, it seems that you're currently making money and I'd say to keep doing that. If you are a talented writer then pursue writing your own books and selling on the various platforms. If your content is worth coming back to, then it may be worth buying. Focus on your writing. Let it sell itself.

Your blog does not exist in google. 80% of the traffic still comes from google, just 20% from social media. Not to mention your website does not exist in social media either.

It doesn't matter that it has a domain and hosting payed. As long as it doesn't exist in google or social media, your website is just like being offline, stored only in your own computer. You can work how much you want on a website stored in your computer, it will not get any traffic.

You have to interweave social media marketing if you'd like to create videos

Otherwise, you're going to have a tough time earning a real income

Also, what happened to your Kindle business? Since you succeeded before, why not go back to it? Did you sell the rights to your books?

If you want to travel you could always teach English overseas. I'm doing that right at the moment. It's pretty good as the last 2 months I've been paid to do no work which has allowed me to focus on niche site building.

I could definitely start a travel blog as there are so few foreigners here to write about where I am.

As to your own website, some niches are easier than others. Choose an easy niche!!!

I tried the teaching english niche but my test blogspot is sandboxed for some reason, despite having great original content.

I am now making inroads into the make money online niche. But you'll need something good to offer people in this niche, a blog just isn't enough unless you're an A list blogger.

I am not qualified enough to give you ANY advice. However, you did mention Instagram and that you only got 30+ email subs in a year.

All I will say is that, I Used Instagram for 22 days and my email list is 53 subscribers. This is just from Instagram.

I am trying to build a list and promote affiliate products. Based of the work you have put in compared to me, it's giving me a picture what makes more sense to do.

Like i said, i'm no internet marketing guru. You could make it work with blogging but i was just comparing 2 little things you had mentioned with myself.

    Good luck.
