Chili garlic sauces. No, really.

Not my business though. But this freelance Filipino writer I hire on occasion--and got a little chummy with--makes and sells the stuff on her own. She claims to make triple the money she spends on ingredients and packaging.

But she says she already has a garden of chilis, so I suppose that helps her save expenses.

I'd order a whole box from her, but she's not confident about shipping it outside her city yet, much less outside her country. A shame. It's a mean looking sauce. I might try doing my own here and see if it's a hit. It'd be great on BBQ.

I've been promoting affiliate / CPA offer for over 17 years. Below is what and how I do it and it has worked extremely well for me.

I heavily promote PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers. This is because there is no credit card / purchase required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates are typically much higher compared to offers that require a sale to be made.

I favor offers that have a make, get or save money benefit to them, as they have overall worked the best. They also tend to have the greatest mass appeal (will be of interest to a large general audience), so the potential exists to produce high volume and they are fairly easy to cross promote on the back-end.

Some of the verticals (niches) I have done extremely well with are: education, insurance, loans, debt, credit, mortgage, assistance, discount offers, homeowner offers, etc...

The bulk of the PPL offers that I promote pay $20-$40 per lead, but I also promote offers that pay more and less. You don't want to get too caught up on what an offer pays because how well it converts is just as important. For example, if you have an offer that pays $9, but if it converts at 2X or more of a $20 offer, then it will perform about the same or possibly better. At the same time, if you have an offer that pays $90 and it converts poorly, it may not even be worth promoting.

I have also done just as good with dating website sign-ups and pretty good with free trial + S/H offers. I also promote a very limited number of offers that are straight sales. For them, mass appeal is still the number one thing I look for and I also look for one of the following...

1) The product is new and/or novel-unique and you can't purchase it locally or even something similar. I don't waste my time with it once something similar shows up in Walmart.

2) The buyer can truly get what is being offered at a decent discount.

3) Solves a house is on fire type problem.

However, I mainly promote non-PPL offers on the backend.

The online lead generation business is huge and done right it can be more profitable than most imagine. Bottom line, it's far easier to get someone fill out a short form than to get them to pull out their credit card and make a purchase. So why struggle with trying to sell this or that, when you can provide free information that users want/need and get paid well doing it.

Hi, I like the affiliate marketing route but you need to have a high value sales funnel with it. In my view it needs to come with high level of education and support and if possible a access to a community of similar affiliate marketers as going alone can be soul destroying and frankly a little overwhelming. I spent loads of time promoting a "cost per action" deal so only name and email, no credit card but it only paid $8 a lead which just wasn't with the effort. Also I write courses, video shooting and editing for small businesses and website building and Facebook adverting. I'm just about to start offering to businesses local to me a video creation day where we get 5 business owners or similar and identify what type of video the want or would need, then script it and shoot it so they can be seen as a leader in the field or go to expert. I just love video.

However, in my opinion, affiliate marketing needs investments, and usually, your media-buying spending will eat a big chunk of your revenues. From the aspect of advertisers, when they put a price on the payout for one CPA/sale offer, they consider how much they would spend if they marketed the same offer, and give you the same or slightly lower payout.

Another way is to market the offers using "free" techniques. Needless to say, you cannot expect a real long-term business based on that.

Briefly said, I'm not on that bus to affiliate marketing route.

I think creating a site is relatively low cost business but it still requires your investment of time. You have to work hard on the site and post a quality content. Focus on its on page and off page SEO and after have a decent amount of visitors, apply for Google Adsense and also apply to any Niche related affiliate marketing. In this way you can earn money from your visitors.

Are we talking offline or online here ? While I had an offline business one thing my uncle said to me who had many successful businesses was, you will never make any real money if the business cannot run without you being there.

This is something I never forgot and for that reason I truly believe arbitrage is one of the best business models their is, in particular web design and follow up services.

Now there is a right way and a wrong way to do arbitrage and the wrong way will see you getting bogged down in orders, clients screaming at you as their order is late and off bad quality. This will drive you crazy in no time.

If you are going down the arbitrage route you need a solid hands free system in place that requires minimal input.

Today social media play a big role in business. Many companies look for the specialist and social media service providers. You can plan to start your own company which will do ghost-writing for businesses, posting on blogs, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts & Facebook pages.

Self publishing on Amazon and other market places. If you do the research right, you can make hefty profit with small investment.

Affiliate marketing is the second option.

The best business you can jump in is Email Marketing: cause it builds an ASSET and requires not so large investment (look at Solo Ads).

If you play with mobile apps, games, sort of scammy tricks which definately force people to subscribe catfishing them, you can make fast profit but you will be banned and sooner or later fined.

The big problem with these types of businesses though is that you are always exchanging your time for money. The way to make it big is to get others to do the lifting for you. It all depends on how much money you are considering as a low investment. Because a low investment can be relative. But if you're saying a low investment like $7 or something like that then I will have to say no it's no possible if you don't any marketing skills.

If you have marketing skills and also technical skills it may be possible. Nevertheless, any business you start will require time and or money. The internet can be incredible, however, it takes a lot of work, time and for sure money to make a life changing income online.

Selling digital products definitely has a large profits than selling physical products. Furthermore, selling digital products has less headache in terms of delivery and refund.

I think a service business has a small startup cost and can yield huge profits. Imagine being a consultant for a particular industry. You could charge $500/month or so just for your advice, and small amounts of technical work on your behalf. At $500/month, at 4 clients, that's a nice $2,000 per month. It may seem small to alot of you, but for some people, it's more than enough to pay all the bills for their mobile home trailer - without having to go to work to pay the bills.

How about cryptocurrency as an investment? If you believe that decentralization is the future, you know that digital currency will have a lot of demand in the future. Search for ambitious cryptos that you think will be popular in the future with high demand. There is a lot of learning to do before trading cryptos and it is stressful.

As mentioned numerous times, create a digital asset with your expertise (and hopefully something that folks will find value with). Most of the initial cost is your time. Once built, the asset (video, eBook, etc...) can be sold over and over with minimal cost. Low cost - high margin!

Software isn't that simple... I built software a few years ago. You might think that once the software has been created you are done. No so. You need a product roadmap to ensure your software remains useful as the surrounding environment changes (new and deprecated APIs) and you need to build out new features. It has many advantages: small startup cost, low risk, you can do it any time you like, you can see the results quickly (unlike real world business which take ages to set up and run), and no need to meet people (great for introverts like me).

To enjoy large profits, it must be something self replicating with minimal effort after the initial ground work.

The way I achieved this is by creating a video training course which acts as a funnel to a high ticket program (costing $2,000+) by a top internet marketing guru.

I have something, but it's not related to internet marketing. One simple answer is horse racing betting. This is assuming you're good at it. Think about it. You can started for as little as a few dollars and with skill and some time you can potentially run it up into a decent sized bankroll. This is something I've been working on for years now and it isn't easy. In terms of access though and investment sized it's certainly something anyone can do if serious enough.

Low investment business through online is Affiliate Marketing. But, you still need to spend some money on autoresponded like Aweber or Getresponse. You need money to build list, create landing page (converting - it's has professionally created sales copy and elements like video and graphics).

If we take offline in my option it's an Insurance or financial advisory business. To start with it will be a one man show and the investment is much low. You will have to work out with your contacts and by providing some free tips to you first circle. This can be done using free online tools like Twitter, Linkedin and to Facebook.

For above both ways if you are good at making videos and post it to YouTube with proper optimization can generate leads.

However, any business needs significant amount of initial investment. The investment should bring value to your business and not on something fancy things.

Research before you invest on the needs and revalue it before spending $$$ on them. Look if you can do it your self, since if you are just starting out you will have some spare time in the early mornings or after you complete you days schedule.

If you have time or money, I still think self publishing will give you the fastest return starting out. As long as you are willing to put some time into researching niches, you will be fine.

Even with all the changes with Amazon, self publishing will give you the fastest reward.

Example: People will spend months with no return in affiliate marketing.
However, it takes about 1 month to publish a book and you can start seeing royalties within a few days.

Local business consulting.

As in helping them to build websites, apps and generate leads and sales for them.

Retail arbitrage. Go to garage sales or dollar stores and buy products that can be sold on ebay for a profit.

It'll take a lot of time to generate a significant income but it's possible. This kind of business is perfect for someone who doesn't have a job and has a lot of time on their hands.

Food trucks seem to be the new it thing. I see a lot of people opening up a food truck and only investing four figures but they're making back 5-6 figures in only a couple of months.

Very low in investment, but very high in physical effort.
Most of these business are done by group of people, such as family or relative or villagers.
Profit are actually very large and can be divided for each people in the group.

Affiliate marketing is good if you can find a good company that has a good third party involved like clickbank, so that way you're assured your payout. But the problem is the payout isn't huge, like you mentioned. Anything where the payouts are larger would need either high ticket sales, or something where you're building a team.
