If I Had to Start Over Again, I Would Do This...

The Warrior Forum has been go to me for 10 plus years, so I thought I would give back.

The one thing I wish I could tell all of the people who are new or who are struggling is to watch what the guru's who are selling you traffic systems and other make money online products do...and not what they say the do.

While they may be teaching Traffic Strategy X, if you watch them, they are usually launching products every month...and that is how they get their traffic and affiliate sales.

You see, when you have your own product, you have an asset. And you can get an army of affiliates to send you traffic.

Most people aren't able to drive more traffic than an army(or even a handful) of affiliates.

But the real reason the Guru's launch products is not to make money with the sale of the product itself. It is to build a buyers list.

Once you have a buyers list, it is the closest thing to printing money there is as long as you are ethical and only recommend quality products.

All of the Top Affiliates have their own products.

They are top affiliates because they have a responsive buyers list that they can direct to any offer they want.

I am a big fan of product creation because I have seen more people go from zero to successful faster with this method than with any other...including myself.

You see, when I launched my first product, which was a simple 7 dollar product, my bank acct was overdrawn by $150, my phone was shut off, and my rent was already past due by a few days with no money to pay it. This was the first week of August in 2009.

Well, that little 7 dollar product solved the above issues and them some and I have never looked back.

And while you may think you need to be some type of guru to create a product, I assure you that you don't. People like to buy from people they like and that they can relate to. So if you just be yourself, are honest and ethical, and truly try to help people, you will succeed.

This is getting a bit long...So I will close with this: If you just starting out, I highly recommend learning product creation. It is the fastest way to success in my opinion.

In the next post below, I will share what I like to call the Lazy Man's(or Woman's) Method of Product creation.

So in this post, I am going to go over a sneaky way to get a quality product to market.

I am actually doing this method right now with my sister in a niche I know relatively
little about...except for the fact I have seen products in the niche online.

Before I get into the method, I want to give you another tip on product creation when
you don't know anything about the niche.

If you have a friend, or someone that knows a lot about a certain topic that would make
for a good report, then interview them.

I learned this trick from the classic Desperate Buyers Only. A classic in the field....and recommended reading. The traffic section is out of date. Everything else is golden.

So anyway, You could pay them upfront to make it worth their while...or take them out
to dinner to get them to spill the beans...whatever needs to be done to get the goods.
(or as a friend in the bodybuilding niche did while he was in Bulgaria, bribe them with
vodka)

That actually happened...and he produced a product that he sold for north of
$50...and I happily paid that $50 while I was in college.

The name of the product was called Big Beyond Belief by Leo Costa. And it worked
just like the sales letter said it would...which is very rare.
.
Anyhow, back to the method.

I have a buddy who is a really good guitar player(he has like 10 guitars) and I have ran
the idea by him. He is on board...but he is a bit of a stoner lol so its been a little hard
to get him to focus.

Not to worry. My sister has been dealing with health issues with her 2 Labs...and
found something that worked after spending thousands of dollars.

So I approached her about writing a report about it and she is down. We are going to
split the commissions just because this is going to be more of a fun project for us...but
normally I would pay someone up front for the info.

So at this point, I went to forums in this pet subniche to get a feel for the problems
people are encountering, what some of the solutions have been etc...

**And this is something you should ALWAYS do.**

It will give you a feel for what the problems, complaints, questions etc of the niche
are...and will really help you when it comes to writing your sales letter.

Next, I am going to interview my sister.

I know she spent thousands of dollars on her yellow lab and so I am going to ask her
what methods she tried etc.

Then I will add in some of the research I have found based on her solution to her dog's
problem and tie that into the report.

And then I will get out Microsoft word and just start writing
and let it all flow out. I'll then edit and organize it later. I
have never done well with structuring things first.

I find I get in the flow much better just brain dumping onto the paper.
I know it won't be perfect, but that's ok. It will be good info that has helped my sister
and her doggie...and probably added a few more yrs to his life.

Now on to the Lazy Person's Way of Product Creation

Step 1. Get a copy of a popular product in your niche or subniche. You can email the
vendor saying you would like to promote the product as an affiliate or you could just
purchase the product.
And if need be, you can purchase it through your affiliate link if. I'll let you decide if that
is ethical or not.

Incidently, you should do this step anyways. It is a good idea to see what others are

doing in your market...and create your own angle on it.

You'll get a much better education by actually going through a successful merchant's
sales funnel that you will be buying the next shiny object.

When you do this, take screenshots of each step of the sales funnel. You can use Jing
to do this, which is free.

You are basically getting a world class marketing education for the cost of the product because
if you pick a successful product, you get to see their funnel and what makes them successful.

Step 2. Check out the table of contents and see what the main topics of the
report/course are.

Step 3. Rewrite those topics...and send them off to a quality writer and tell them you
want a 500 word article on the topic and ask them to cite their sources.

In addition, I like to browse through the table of contents on Amazon to see what they
are discussing in the most popular books in the niche.

You will notice they basically discuss the same topics.

Now, this is not copying or plagiarism at all. This is just writing about a topic that is
important to the niche.

And there are always more than one method to solve a problem...just look at all of the
weight loss courses on Clickbank.

If there was only one solution to losing weight, someone would have a patent on it.

Ok...and this is important...

You need Quality articles.

So you are going to pay a bit more. This is not getting a $5 article for SEO purposes
which many of us have done in the past.

So a good place is iwriter...but make sure you order Premium articles. In order for
a writer to qualify for a premium article, they need a lot of good feedback.

And if you don't like the article, you can deny it and someone else will write it...and you
only pay once.

You can also try Upwork as well.

Step 4. Go over the content, edit where needed...then write an intro and a conclusion
and you are all done.

Add some cover graphics, and you have a report you can sell.

In regards to graphics, I would just hop on over to the Warrior Forum and look for
graphics people in the Warrior for hire section. That's where I found my graphics guy
for most of my products.

I would recommend my graphics guy, but he is not taking on any work right now..so I
need to find a new graphics person. No biggie.

Also...if you don't already know how to do graphics, I don't recommend spending the
time to learn. That is just going to delay getting your product done.

I have ZERO clue on how to do graphics for photo shop...and I have ZERO desire to
learn. Our time is far to valuable.

And there you have it. Pretty simple.

If you complete this step, you will have separated yourself from 95% of the other
marketers out there and cured shiny object syndrome.

So take imperfect action. It feels good

If there is enough interest(and time permitting) I can add follow up posts about traffic etc.

That's pretty cool Mark. So I gather that the "products" in questions are primarily eBooks and you sell ebooks and ebook courses - is this self publishing via Amazon?

      Hi Crackhouse,

      Thanks for the question.

Well you can do an ebook...but I like to think of it more of an info product....which includes a report. So you can sell a report by itself...or turn the report into Videos and Mp3's which will increase the perceived value of the product.

I haven't done Amazon self publishing. I will eventually....but I view Amazon kindle as a way to build your list. What a lot of people will do is take their main product and put a section of it on Amazon kindle as a way to build their list. Kind of like a free report that one gives away when building a list.

Once you have your product done, you can host it on Clickbank or Self Host...or both.

      I hope this helps.

If you can't trust someone (guru or not) to do what they preach, you should not be buying any products they offer.

Hmm...I see your point but not how this helps someone new to the game. How are they going to know who to trust in a sea of products?

My point isn't that these "gurus" aren't being dishonest. They may very well have a good method that works. What I am saying is that 95% + percent of them aren't getting the bulk of their business by using that "Free traffic method" or whatever it is they are selling.

Doesn't mean it wont work. I am simply pointing out they got to where they are by selling products and building a buyers list.

So in this post , I am going to go over one of the most important skills that you will
ever learn...and that is selling online. AKA Copywriting.

And I will give you some hacks to get up and running quickly.
This is always the least popular topic because it involves rolling up your sleaves and
    actually doing some work.

The people who are serious about making good money online will take time to learn this
skill. Those who don't, will continue bouncing from magic bullet to magic bullet.

To be honest, this is a skill that you will want to get continuing education on.
The reason being, once you get good at copywriting, you will be able to enter any niche
within a few days and start making sales.

It really is a skill that will help you write your own ticket.

The ability to create a product and sales letter in a few days gives one the ability to enter a niche and launch an entire business within a few days.

Now, it's true that you can have a sales letter written. But how will you know if it is a good sales letter if you don't know the basics of copy?

Here is a FREE way to Learn How to Write Copy from the Best Copywriters in the World

When I created my second or third product, I knew I needed to step up my copy game and I instinctively knew that hand writing out the best sales letter in the world would really help me write my sales letter for my Youtube product(my YT product is out of date so this isn't a plug for it)

So what I did was write out by hand the Pelmanism sales letter by Joe Vitale. It is regarded as one of the highest converting sales letters ever. Then I applied it to my Youutube product...and that Youtube product converted very well and made me a lot of money while building a buyers list that made me even more money.

There is something about handwriting something out that hard wires it into our nervous system. That is why some of us older folk remember the days when our teacher made us write on the chalk board I will not slap Jimmy in the back of the head 100 times.

Typing it will not have the same effect.

Incidently, I found out later that the great Gary Halbert(one of the best copywriters the world has known) teaches this exact same method.

So what I recommend doing is going over to Clickbank and click on a category. I recommend Health and Fitness and clicking on Diet. Then sort by popularity. Then find the most popular product that has a written sales letter. Don't concern yourself with video sales letters at this point. They are hard to pull off and expensive to outsource.

Once you find that sales letter, write it out by hand. Then do it with other top sales letters too.

Gary Halbert has a list of the best selling sales letters to copy by hand. One of them is called The Lazy Man's Way to Riches, which you can find by a simple google search.

Is it work? Yes. But getting good at marketing takes work. Despite what all of those sales letters promise, the truth is you need to get good at marketing to make money...

And the best thing about it is it won't cost you an arm and a leg like a traditional education or business school will. The info is out there for a reasonable price.

The other two resources I recommend to get you up to speed quickly is Jason Fladliens Stopwatch Copy and Paul Hancox Emergency Copywriting. Both are excellent and have helped me.

I enjoy reading your emails because you are honest and tell it like it is in the IM space.
I am so sick of all the ebooks and magical software that promises push button riches.

I'm curious though if you work in the offline niche as well-like generating leads for local businesses, creating local videos for plumbers, roofers, dentists etc. Do you have any suggestions on the best way to break into this market? Or any courses that are truly outstanding? Seems a lot less crowded than affiliate marketing and the revenue could be recurring in this business model.

    Thanks for any help!

      Hi Frank,

Thanks for the kind words. I replied to your email about this but not sure if you go it.

A good person for local marketing is Andrea Vahl..but her stuff isn't cheap. but it's well worth it if you are looking to market for local businesses.

I have done local marketing for local businesses...but it was by referral...and it was back in my SEO days. Nice thing about local businesses is they have cash(for the most part) to pay to increase their business.

Regarding ranking videos for local terms, its not really that difficult since the competition is low. Just have your on page seo down(ie keyword in title, tags, and description) and maybe get some backlinks...but usually that won't take much work.

So what you could do is make a generic video for a dentist, for example, and then get the video ranked for dentist in (your city) and then contacts dentists to see if they would like to rent that video...then you have their contact info below the video.

      I hope this helps

In any case, I would check out Andrea's stuff if you want to do local. Her focus is on using social media ie FB to generate leads for local businesses. If you have any more questions, feel free to send me an email.

Big Beyond Belief sales letter was one that I'd read, daily, when
I saw it in Muscle and Fitness or Flex. I don't remember which one
    it was.

I read it because I was into bodybuilding and was about to enter my
    first ever amateur show.

I placed 5th in that bodybuilding show back in 2001, and it launched
my online business that sold... yep, the program I used to get in shape
    for my bodybuilding show.

Well, the next few years I devoured every book I could find on copywriting.

Come to find out, the great John Carlton wrote that Big Beyond Belief
    sales letter.

No wonder I was memorized by it back then. John's one of the greatest
    copywriters in the world.

Anyhoo... it's CRAZY how life works some times.

I read a sales letter that got me into bodybuilding... and then
when I got into marketing and copy, studied from the legend who
    wrote that ad.

Again, strange coincidence that I still think about often.

Leo launched an entire series of products, based off John's writing.

I still go through his letters from time to time, he wrote about
7 or 8 for Leo, if I remember right. Good stuff.

    That's awesome Sean!!

It's funny...I just recently found out John Carlton wrote his stuff...probably within the last month or two as I was wanting to re-visit the sales letter and compare it to what things look like these days.

Man, that sales letter was good enough to get a broke college student to pay $50 plus over night shipping to get my paws on that manual. And man, did that program ever work!!

That was '96...and yes, I find it funny that I got into copywriting after being a consumer of products that were sold in Direct Response style.

Same thing with Matt Furey. Bought his fitness stuff...now I am in the same biz lol.

And a really funny one was where Doberman Dan was telling this story about how he was in a boat with Gary Halbert...and he was about ready to launch his Test Booster product.

Well Gary told him that he needed to tweak his sales letter and say how the product was a secret from deep in the Amazon Rain Forest or something like that...and I was like "Wait a minute...I remember that sales letter!" because I bought the product from that sales letter! haha!!

Thanks for responding, Sean. That is a great story!

      I couldn't agree more, Ryan.

I got the best results when I treated whatever I was doing as practice and didn't worry about the outcome.

There is a really popular self improvement course that bases a huge part of their training on teaching to let go of wanting outcomes so that you get to a place where you care less if you get the outcome or not...and it works like magic.

Well, I never claimed to be a guru. Second, you can check when I launched my first product on here, The one I am referring to, which is Backlink Bully. If you do a search, you will see I launched it the first week in August 2009.

I can't prove that my phone was shut off or that I was $150 in the hole, or that my rent was due(rent is normally due by the 5th)..but it was the truth.

      Thank you.

I've decided not to post in this thread anymore as the mods have deleted this thread twice including right after selecting it for top threads of the day.

They accused me of bumping the thread when I was simply responding to a poster which I thought was the polite thing to do.

I was going to put traffic methods and videos I already have made in this thread but if it is just going to get deleted, not worth my time.

id turn this thread into a ebook, and send traffic to optin page, get them to watch a short video sales letter with a buy button downbelow.

once in my list I would keep helping them and keep sending them back to the video page.

id watch it go from NO money to a little bit of money and reinvest the money into paid traffic or solo ads.

BOOM!, would see it turn into a $100 a day business. BOOM!!

I'd look for a business model that resonates with me first - and in my case that means: it has to be simple, i.e. comprise as few components as possible (since all of those can malfunction).

And then I'd run paid traffic to it from the start. No point in perfecting your offer (in terms of what you think) for months to find out that nobody agrees with your version of perfection.
