What is the Best method for generating web design leads

Hey guys,

I am trying to grow my web design business and have been using mainly just craigslist. I am also on yelp, yellowpages, and google business but its been hard to find clients.

What is your best method to generate leads that has worked well for you?

I am thinking about cold-calling but seems most people already have a website already.

    Yes, most people have websites. So, it would be difficult to find new clients. Why not sell mobile apps to those people who have website. By this method you will get lots of clients. Most have website but they donot have apps. So, it will increase their web presence.

        Onward...

        See if you can partner with agencies or other freelancers who need web design skills to fulfill their own projects. For example, a small ad agency may have writers on staff, but lack the need for a full time designer.

        Trade referrals with other freelancers.

        Approach very busy designers and inquire about overflow work.

        There are many ways to sell web design without selling websites to end users.

    The fact that many business have websites is a really good thing. Because you know that they see the value (or at least saw it once) of having a website. What you need to offer is redesigns. Many many of those websites are old and outdated...

    I would tell you this: if a business doesn't have a website, don't even call them. Focus on the ones with crappy websites. It's an easier sell.
