Wondering how I would create a "packaged product" out the member's only content on my website?

I'm not sure exactly how I would approach this situation. Maybe you guys can offer some guidance...

Right now, my "product" that I sell for $59 is access to a member's area of my website.

My website has lot's of free content on it, but then there is a member's area where there is about 2000 videos. For $59 people get lifetime access to the member's area (I've tested various different pricing models, and have found that $59/lifetime has worked best for me).

Right now, all of my traffic is "warm traffic" as they find me on YouTube, then they go to my site via. the links that I provide. They browse around all my free content, and then some people pay the $59 to gain access to the "premium content" which I label as a "course".

Part of the selling point is that once they access the premium content, they will also have access to any and all new content that is added to the member's area.

My question is how I would I go about "packaging" this course if I were to use paid advertising?

- If set up the ads such that it links them to my course, a lot of people will just end up browsing around my site and just looking at the free content.

- Would I maybe get a new domain name where the ENTIRE site/course material is unlocked once they pay?

I'm wondering how I'd go about this?

Thanks!

Create a separate sales page, with NO links to your existing membership content.

The only link from this page should be a $59 buy button.

      Hey thanks for the reply!

I'm wondering how to do that though? Since the "product" is essentially just 2000+ "protected pages" of my website, each with a video on the page.

That's why we don't put navigation menus on sales pages...

Definitely makes sense, but that's why I'm wondering what I should do with these 2000 "protected pages"?

Make a sales page for your membership. When they pay send them login credentials just like I assume you do now. Why repackage it?

I'm thinking the only way to do this is to get another domain and have all of my membership material transferred over there. This would require me to go through and create 2000 more "protected pages" on the new domain and re-embed all of my videos on each page (since each protected page on my site contains 1 video).

Like I said, on my current website I have about 120 free pages, each which contains a video and a written article associated with the video. I then have the members-only area which contains over 2000 protected pages that become accessible once they pay the $59.

I'm wondering if there is an easier way or some better software that will allow me to do what I'm looking to do aside from replicating my entire site on a new domain.

From my understanding, the way I have my membership site setup is kinda old school technology. I'm using Wishlist member on a basic wordpress site. I don't have any other experience with any other software or plugins. That's why I'm seeing if you guys may have some suggestions.

You're making this a whole lot more difficult than it needs to be.

You already have a protected members' area.

You also have unprotected pages. A sales page is just one more unprotected page.

Your ads should link to that page.

The sales page would have ONE link on that page... the call to action (i.e. the buy button).
The HTML code for the buy button (which delivers the buyer to your payment page) should be exactly as the current buy button on unprotected WP page. It will deliver the buyer to the exact same process (i.e. make the payment and return to "thank you" page of some sort and/or email login details).

You're right. I guess I was just thinking that if they went to my home page (by just removing the "/link-to-sales-page" in the url search bar, they would end up on my main site. Obviously, more traffic to my site is always a good thing, but the purpose of the ads wouldn't be for basic website traffic.

Maybe I'm overthinking things though like you said. I just have to create a nice sales page that doesn't include a navigation search bar, and only contains a "buy now" button. If they happen to end up on my site's home page, then it's just another lead!

Yes... if people clicked on your ad, landed on your sales page, and then removed all but the domain name from the URL in the browser address bar... they would land on your current home page.

But they would have already had a chance to see your sales page by then.

I don't know anyone who removes the "/link-to-sales-page" from the URL in a search engine, so if they were to click on your sales page link (from a search engine) they would wind up on your sales page. That's a good thing, isn't it?

You will still have all of the existing search engine traffic to your other free pages, because you aren't changing anything in that regard.

It seems like you were trying to make the sales page the home page of your site.

There's no need because 1) you will be driving traffic directly to that sales page from any ads, 2) from other links from the free content, and 3) even from the sidebar of your blog.

What happens if you decided to add another product and need to create another sales page? You can't have 2 home pages.

Ya, you are right. Most people probably wouldn't do that. To me, it's just second nature to look at the home page of every sales page that I see. But I'm always studying peoples' sales methods. I guess the average person wouldn't take that step.

Thanks for the info and advice!

Sid's right you're overthinking it. Create a sales page explaining all the reasons why they should join your membership and the value that comes with it.

Put your call to action on it a couple of times and point it to the paylink of your choice.

Once they click on the call to action pay link and after they pay they will be taken to a thank you page with the information to their new membership.

Make both the sales page and thank you page "no index" so the search engines don't crawl them.

As for people finding their way to the homepage, isn't that what you want also so you can then promote your membership feature and provide access to the freebies in case their still on the fence about your membership.

    Hope this helps.

    Paul
