You need to actually answer each person's question and provide the facts/solution to their question. Once you do that you can refer them to seek additional information from your link. You should also be using Yahoo Answers as well. Remember write atleast three sentence responses before just spamming your link.

Quora is a social question & answer website you can use to drive lots of traffic.
But, If you start over promoting links to your website, you're likely to get banned.
So very careful in using Quora.

    - Quora can be used to promote your personal brand.

    - A link from Quora is good for SEO of your website.

    - Quora Question/Answers can bring Organic Traffic from Google.

When you provide great content, people will consider it as helpful and up-vote your answer.

    Hope this helps,
    Ali.

Provide real help and only link when it makes sense. You can create YouTube videos to answer the question and link to your sites from the description of those and even mention it at the end. This works pretty well.

What have you tried so far? How's it working for you?
I don't have an MLM business. I don't use Quora for promotions.
But here's what I'd do, if I were you:

Let's say I've already identified the right audience.
And let's say I already know their relevant, timely interests in MLM.
Like what they're searching in Google. And what they're sharing in Facebook.
And what they're talking about in Twitter. And what they're watching in Youtube.
    ...

Also, let's say I've effectively used these things to:
Create compelling emails for affiliate products. And an irresistible opt-in offer.
And enticing social media content with captivating headlines.
And helpful blog posts about hot topics.
    ...

At this point, I'll create a list of the most relevant questions in Quora.
And find out which ranks really well in Google. For relevant keywords.
With significant search demand. From my target locations.
    ...

Then, I'll arrange the top ranking Quora questions in my list this way:
From least to most relevant to my content, opt-in offer and affiliate products.
    ...

I'll then effectively answer the least relevant Quora questions, without dropping links.
And as I gradually build my reputation in Quora as a friendly expert in MLM-related things:

I'll provide helpful answers to the most relevant questions in Quora.
But I'll leave out supplemental info that can greatly help my target audience.
And this will be found in my content, opt-in offer and affiliate products.
Which I'll drop links to, from time to time, depending on relevance and value for my ideal prospects.
    ...

Try it out if you want. I'd love to hear your results.

Great suggestions, what I have done before in the past if write articles when articles directories were popular and it was easy to rank, SEO, CL Ads, got thrown off yahoo answers for placing links in my answers to my own articles they called it self promotion so have to be careful with QUORA because you can get kicked off when you place links to yourself in your answers like it happen to me in yahoo answers

What we tend to do is put a lot of information into our Quora profile.
You can place the link to your opt in or website in your profile.
Answer questions on a daily basis - we tend to do around 5.
You will find others send you questions to answer also.

QA websites are always great source of quality traffic, but it is hard to prevent yourself to answer a question without a link to your website. So my solution is, trying to answer many questions from other niches that I know about too(i.e my hobbies etc).
