Paypal buys Honey for $4 Billion

This is really interesting:

From what I understand, to get Honey discounts there will be a Paypal buy link with no other payment options.

Any ideas on how IMers might use this?

Actually that is interesting. Never heard of it before, thanks for posting this.

I am going to install it and see what it does from an end user stand point. The figures are something there, 17 million people and 30,000 retailers. There are bound to be a few ways to insert oneself into the mix.

I will install and see what ideas ferment themselves after a few days of using it. I will let you know.

I did hear about this. Makes sense from PPs perspective.

I'm not really sure how we can utilize it though.

    Two lessons from that buyout:

    1) One advantage of getting funded by venture firms is their networks come in handy when it comes to possible acquisition. In fact, many VCs make their money trying to get companies they funded acquired.

    2) Work on developing your 'one big idea' (something bigger and more innovative than the typical affiliate site) - see if it can be turned into a startup that can be funded

    Never heard of it before,
I've used that app for quite some time - very handy for people who shop online.
Makes sense paypal would buy it.

I hope not. Could mess up a good app. Money is made on the backend with retailers who partner with Honey getting part of the commission. What has surprised me with Honey is that results seem to be accurate but the app is not intrusive. Smart idea - well developed.

Instead of looking on how to get in the mix ( because there is no middle in this transaction )... you have to understand "Honey" is what we should aspire to be... They are AFFILIATES at scale, nothing less nothing more.

What they have done with Affiliate Marketing is simply "Create Value" there is a REASON to use the app... answering the burning question "Can I get it for less?" and doing so Instantly. Its really not the only service in that type of space... they just took Influencer advertising to un godly levels - they simply were throwing money around like rice at a wedding party with 10,000 guests.

What should get real interesting is if PayPal will keep up the Advertising budget or not... all we will have to do is watch "Mr. Beast" to figure that out.

How about creating a few press releases in the hopes some major news sites will pick them up giving some good quality links? Paypal isn't the only one that can send press releases.

How do I get my products listed on Honey? For example, it's possible to have drop shipped and POD products on Amazon. Can I offer coupons for my own Amazon products or only Amazon? Any other way(s) to have my products on Honey? Can someone offer a guide or training?

Maybe a report about how to promote the Honey affiliate program, where a person gets $5 for each person they get to buy something?

I'm sure there's plenty of other and better ideas that I didn't think of...

The acquisition may be nothing, but Paypal may really promote it and "Honey" could be a growth niche.
