Can anybody help me getting the target profile of people who'd likely want Norton Antivirus? I thought the target profile would be anyone who owns smartphone or laptop/computer *which means everybody). But that would be massive waste of adspend! What approach would be best, please suggest. Most importantly i need to find out " target profile"; i can figure the traffic strategy later.

What do these people do, search for or buy * just before * they decide they need antivirus protection?

55sadhikar how do you find out that info? You start your own website selling product x and use your cPanel to find out that info.

-They just bought a new computer/laptop?
      - Search " how to clean virus?"

But identifying these folks and targeting on facebook, it's a challenge...

Targeting people who are looking to clean up virus can be done easily via search.

This may not be helpful but after reading your question, I asked myself the same thing.

I grew up on Norton and have always loved it. Even when others were dissing it because it wasn't the fastest, I stayed firm. I also liked and followed Peter. I bought his books and other software he put out.

To me, and this isn't racist or xenophobic, but I think I trust certain things (like things that may see my credit card information or personal data) more that are made in the US vs. let's say Russia where another huge name, Kaspersky, is made. Maybe it's the old cold war, maybe too many spy movies, I'm not sure. I don't look down on those other systems, I just trust some more than others and show it with my purchases.

So, part of my profile is old IT guy who grew up on Norton and still trusts them 30 years later partially because of Peter, partially because it's made in the USA, and partially because it's just always worked for me and my computers both personal and business.

    Mark

Edit: I would, under no circumstances, purchase a Norton knockoff or anything similar. I am not sure what you are doing so this comment doesn't reflect on that, but I see most of these homegrown antivirus systems as dangerous. I have bought competitive products but only from known, trusted, big brands. I see many scam posts that come through here offering tech support and other things that seem to be glorified phishing scams. So, yes I try to be careful.

@ Mark Singletary. If you are older IT technician, you most likely understand the threat of virus, malware, spyware and have virus protection. If they have a different software company i need to convince why norton is better than the one they are using.

  • I see 3 key profiles.

    First is evrywan' usin' it.

No point sellin' to them, cos they already got it.

So ... you're lookin' at degrees of cluelessness here.

    2 kinds.

First is people don't know nuthin'.

They clueless 'bout viral threat (despite, yanno) so you gotta edyoocate 'em first before they know what is on offah.

Second is people who know 'bout virus stuffs -- so you gotta start here an' show em' why Norton is BEST OPTION.

(I realise people who already got Norton need keepin' onboard, but that is anothah story. My personal preference is for Madame Slasher's Vader Blitzer -- but only bcs I get 10% off my weekly shop at my local Dropdead Leatherwear outlet.)
