What a great thread! I have had my share of hard times. I have found that when you do two things life tends to work itsself out. First: As a Christian I would say strive to keep your focus on your relationship with Jesus Christ. Second: Reach out to others in need. This is why I love the business I am in, it focuses on helping others. Right now the co. will sponsor four children nutritionally for a year, when I enrol someone new, statistically saving a childs life. Talk about motivation, and getting your mind on helping others!

Simple.

Go to Fiverr.com

Spend some time researching what people are doing (check reviews, competitors, etc)

Spend some time in paint putting together some nice graphics

Create a Gig and sell your services

You will be amazed how quickly you can rack of some cash, especially because Fiverr will put the money directly into your paypal account.

Last but not least.....GO DO IT!!! You will never make money by simply sitting there, go try it at the very least it...especially because Fiverr is FREE to offer gigs on.

I would say that probably local internet marketing for offline busineses would be the easiest way to make a quick buck. Set up a squeeze page and then drive traffic to it by google adwords as well as SEO, social marketing, free ads etc. offering prospects something free.

Your first clients would be your friends or business acquaintances. Then you can sell them leads or do a free trial at first if they are skeptical to show them the value of these prospects. Believe me if any of them get business out of it they will stick with you.

Another probably quicker way would be to get rid of things around the house that you don't need anymore and sell them on craigslist.

I'm also desperate to make money. I'm about $200 in debt and I have to pay it in the next few months. I am planning to offer article writing services here in Warrior Forum but I don't have the money to pay for a Warrior For Hire offer. Well, I need to borrow again from a friend.

Trust me, you could be in way more debt!

It could be a lot worse.

Borrowing from a friend may seem like a good idea but here's what I suggest you do. Set up an article service with some paypal buttons on a free website platform such as blogger or something else.

Put some paypal buttons up for your services.

Then, put a link to that in your signature on this forum and when you take part in discussions in the forum, people will see your signature and perhaps contact you or order some articles right away.

That way, you don't need to borrow money from a friend yet you can start doing your freelancing right away.

I started an online business in IM. I do not have 8 hours a day to work on this (only about 2 hours a day). I have made a very good part time opportunity out of this with online 2 hours a day.

Just think what can be done if the time is devoted as needed.

The money is there, it just takes persistence and a solid comittment!

Thanks for your suggestion. I actually have a website with a domain name, and I'm planning to use this site to sell my writing service. But my web hosting company sucks really bad. My site's been down since yesterday. So I signed up for a Hostgator account for 1 cent for the first month, but they still need a copy of my passport and credit card. Well, I'll have to apply for jobs on Odesk for the meantime.

It does not matter how good this thread is, it only matters if the person who read this has the courage to take action, focus on the end result and not getting affected with the day to day end result.

Being mentally tough and move one step at a time really help to pull out from the rag.

Do not give up hope, what you are now is the result of past thinking and doing.

Do something new now and stick to it

Moral of the story: Burn off excess energy, calm down, get organized, get focused. Master these four things and go from there.
This is the kind of advice I don't usually see, but it is so pivotal to dealing with a major emergency of any kind.

Before you can even start dealing with such a situation, you must get to the point where you are no longer in "panic mode". You do this by focusing, not on the problem, but on the solution.

If I sit in terror thinking "This is it! I'm gonna be homeless in ____ days! What am I going to do with my furniture? How am I going to take care of my dog? What will my friends think of me when I hit bottom?", I will be paralyzed and unable to accomplish anything.

If, on the other hand, I immediately think "What are my assets? What resources can I use? What will my next move be?" I will already be moving in the right direction, and my attitude will be vastly improved. Only then can I make progress in resolving the issue.

I just added this sig so I can refer to it in my posts...

Thats right. "Knowing what you know now".

The keyword in the thread is "desperate".

If you are desperate. You need a job. Not some new project where you have to invest money and time and energy with the 'possibility' of making some money.

Get a job. It takes mere minutes online to apply for a job, you turn up to a few interviews which only costs you money in travel and BAM! Your now fully employed, with benefits, getting your bills and rent or mortrgage paid and now have spare money to invest into your dream project.

Show me someone that was in destitute and then made enough online without a job to back them, enough to get them out of the desperate situation they where in!

No doubt there are a small handful of people in this category. But those with a job to back them far outweigh those without. Search the threads yourself and see.

Also, what is the reason they are desperate in the first place? No money maybe? - Jobs provide money..

Im a big believer in dreams and NOT working for the MAN. Becoming self sufficient, financially free....

But sometimes these desperate people need to pull their head out of the clouds and understand that to get their dream business going they need capital. They could take out a loan, but, well there are many buts there. They could borrow from a friend or family member, but.. Or they could just get a job.

It shows initiative too. If they cant motivate themselves and get off of their butt to get a job, how the hell are they going to 'make it' on their own?

Its much more realistic.

You may want to check out the thread where I made $1600 in 72 hours of being an internet marketer.

Or you can go to The Telemarketing Forum - Index and see all the countless success stories of people that started with nothing but a dream and are now in business for themselves...

There are two different types of people out there. There are the hourly types that look for security in making someone else rich... then there are those of us that know we can do better than that. The ones that have tenacity and believe in ourselves.

The ones that when the chips are down.... don't run to the unemployment line. The ones that make it happen.

You are right... there is only a handful of people that have what it takes to succeed. That handful... won't settle for a job.

If they do, they will be miserable... Always knowing in the back of their head that they don't belong where they are.

To thine own self be true.

I am not qualified to tell anyone what they should or should not do.

I am able to share my own experiences... and let you take from that... what you will.

I do know... if you need money now... You better do something. If you go get a "job", you have to wait two weeks (normally) to get paid... so you better hurry.

Or telling a homeless person... "Go get a home."

Better yet...

This is true, sometimes a job isn't even an option - they're either unavailable or just won't help fast enough, especially when bills and/or a mortgage are looming close.

I suggest you spend some time learning the skills on how to make money online and how to make your online business, you can't just open your eyes and find that you are earning money, you need to do some effort at the beginning, then money will follow.. I have tried so many ways to earn money online without really learning, and it was a disappointment, but now I learned right and I know what I'm doing .. this is my advice to you ..

Where you in desperation?

I doubt it.

Thats my point.

You guys are arguing something using your own subjective versions of what you think the term "Desperate" means.

I would recommend looking it up.

"No jobs" huh....? Where the hell did that come from? I hope it wasnt the 'news'.

Job are everywhere mate, i have not been 'jobless' since i was about 14 years old. 'Jobless' is a state of mind. If you want a job, you'll get one.

State of mind is exactly the reason these desperate people need to get a job.

They are in the situation they are in for a reason. They need to begin slowly changing the condition to one of belief and empowerment. Of course you can go from zero to hero, im not saying you cant but belief is built through seeing and experience. Im simply saying that there is a far greater chance of success when taking to things with a reasonable, sustainable and strategic plan - instead of going from; bills to pay, phone ringing at night with debt collectors, cant sleep, no cash flow, yada yada yada to overnight internet success!

At the end of the day you need to realize im not arguing what you think im arguing, im not saying you cant succeed as a newbie online or even as a matter of fact a 'desperate' newbie. Im saying it is much wiser if you come from the school of common sense to use your minfulness and get a job.

Getting a job is a much easier task then starting, running and creating a truly successful online business which will provide as much as a 'job' would provide for you. Its all a part of the gradual step by step system.

Unfortunately we live in a McDonalds fast food world where everything has to come to us instanly. Pill nation. These days you can get high as a kite, full as a hindu cow on instant junk food and brain numbed by sensless tv just as quickly as there is a drug to bring you down, a drink to detox you and relaxing harmonizing bi-nauraul tunes to calm your nerves and awaken your senses again. Its human to want to skip the in-between.

If you are desperate, sure, skip everything in between and go straight to step 9. Or be realistic, be smart and start at step 1. You might learn something along the way.... And thats the real key to success

We are in the wealthiest nation on the planet. The fact that so many people are struggling is a sad reality indeed. But having said that here is some simple advice for IMMEDIATE cash:

Go OFF Line!

NUMBER ONE:
- Have a yard sale and get rid of stuff you don't need. If you do not have a yard go to the venues that will let you sell stuff there like; churches, community centers, etc.

- If you don't have anything to sell yourself reach out to your neighbors, and larger community, and offer to sell their 'stuff' for a percentage. If you are too shy or embarrassed to do this hire a local high school kid to sit at the table and sell the stuff for you. This is faster than eBay without the fees!

NUMBER TWO:
- I think everyone tends to forget that even in the worst depression wealthy people always have money. Put up a couple of signs offering to do services such as: grass cutting, roof repair, hauling junk, etc. and then find someone in your local area and broker the service to them for a fee.

NUMBER THREE:
- If you want to stick with doing stuff at the computer go to those same neighborhoods and put up a sign that reads: "Websites for new businesses". "Logo design", "Sell your items on eBay". Then find people at sites like: Scriptlance, Guru, Elance, Freelancer, etc. to do the work for you!

NUMBER FOUR:
- I know that folks don't like this word. But if you are really desperate there are probably a dozen companies within a quarter mile of where you live that will hire you as a SALES person. Yeah, I said it. Sales may be the quickest way for you to get back on your feet. In fact, there are telemarketing firms that will pay you the same day in cash if you ask them.

NUMBER FIVE:
- If you are really desperate you WILL have to swallow some pride. And if you are able to read these words odds are you have a computer with an internet connection. This means you have the ability to broker online services offline. Try it. And hearing a few "NO"s won't kill you.

Many people have made money, and even gotten rich, by being the middle man or brokering. After all being an affiliate is just a fancy word for brokering.

Don't mean to come off stern. But if you (and a family) are depending upon you getting off your butt and taking action you should not be sitting in front of this computer. DO SOMETHING!

That's my 2 cents.

Great old thread - and a great reminder that you need to take action to get out of your bad situation.

I made money last year with a rather 'crude' offline method: Selling Coffee.

This won't make you millions this year. Heck, not even $1000 this month.

I only put here that if you REALLY desperate, you should be ready to kick your comfort zone in the face and go out there and DO something.

And boy, did I LOVE it

Collect Your Unclaimed Money (U.S.)

This is no joke. I checked out this site: missingmoney.com - and found that I had $79 waiting for me from job I quit a long time ago. I also searched the names of family members and found records of insurance companies, corporations and the like that had money that was due them.

I discovered that my Aunt who passed on a few years ago showed 4 occurrences from financial/insurance companies. I forwarded the information on to my cousin, letting her know that she can collect on my Aunt's behalf. I also did unclaimed money searches for other members of my family.

How to search and claim money:

On the right side of the home-page, type in your first & last name and click search.

You'll get more fields at the top of the page that are searchable by FIRST NAME, MIDDLE INITIAL, LAST NAME, CITY & STATE. If matches are found, find the best match that fits you, click on the NAME link and follow the instructions.

Have your drivers licence and social security card handy. In my case, I clicked the name link, filled out my contact information, and was emailed a form which I had to print, fill out and send via US Mail. I also needed proof of residence at the time of my employment. A copy of a tax return or electric bill, etc with a copy of my drivers license & social security card worked fine.

Happy hunting

George Owens

I am one of them... If you are hard up for cash and want paid today via paypal.... Contact me... I can put you on the phones and we can JV.....

HostGator's Affiliate Program will pay you anywhere from $50 up to $125 per customer (depending on how many customers you refer per month). If you refer 21+ customers a month, you get paid $125 per customer. When you break it down that is only about 5.5 customers you need to refer a week - less than 1 a day. And the smallest hosting plan is just $8.95/month which is nothing!

2. Go and find businesses or individuals (think musicians, etc) that could benefit from having a simple web presence such as a wordpress blog. Approach them and offer to set up their blog for free. Tell them that in order to do so they will need to purchase a domain and hosting and give them your affiliate link to do so.

Be straight up with them and explain that by buying through your affiliate link they will still be paying the same however you will get a commission which affords you the time to build them their website for free.

It's an easy sell and a win-win situation for all involved. You could also go a little further and create a short wordpress video tutorial series that you send each customer as a bonus.

If you were able to reach the 21 customer per month that would equate to $2625 per month or over $650 per week.
This is a very good idea and I really wonder if there realy is anyone who is making bank with hosting affiliate programs. It seems hard to get lots and lots of online conversions because most already have an established hosting account and all the good hosting review domains are taken. However... going offline is a good route to take.

The credentials you provide are reviewed by an employee of the State treasury department, who probably already have more information than you're giving them - in order to verify that you are who you say you are.

I seriously doubt that the information you provide to the State triggers any red Fed flags.

I'm officially desperate, a family member has been diagnosed with a disease that may ruin their job. I have to make enough money to support not only me, but my whole family at this point.

And now I realize how silly the "get a job" advice is when you have income but it's not enough.

Gonna read through this thread very seriously now, wish I knew website design.

What to do if you're desperate?

I wrote this last night to enter a contest here at WF

One of the more promising ideas I've seen here, not sure if this thread, was to offer local businesses a basic website. SO many businesses here have no web presence whatsoever but I would feel very uncomfortable offering them someone else's free template with no ability to customize or troubleshoot, and minimal knowledge of SEO.....confidently, anyway.

I'd also love to do Android apps (that's not web design I guess) but I wouldn't even know where to start, and at this time I don't have the leisure time to learn. I don't even own an Android device, I just think that's an area of tremendous growth.

Those things have to wait, since it's hit the fan here and I need to do something now.

This is the most interesting forum for marketing that I have been at. What a diverse amount of topics and information.

My suggestions for when you need more money. Sell on craigslist or ebay. Its a quick hit. Get an extra job one day a week and use that money.

Unfortunately there is no easy fix when you need more money.

Good luck.

Please help answer this:
Low-priced free-lancers will do 'crappy' work, much of the time;
Quality people charge $50,$70 $80/ hour and (often) already have enough work.
  • If you are currently out-sourcing, any comments on finding quality for a decent price?
  • Also this thread is about desperation, where do we get the money to out-source? :p

You sell a website... You get prepaid at least 50% then you go to the warrior for hire section and pay them with the deposit you received... while you focus on getting more deals... Before you know it....

You have a full fledged business and you started with nothing.....

Thanks Amir, you fully answered over 50%.
I still don't trust an 'affordable' free-lancer with something that I'm responsible for.

  • (For example) Your free-lancer claims the template is original, when actually it is ripped-off w/ the footer link removed.
^^^
Not the way I will be starting a business.

Note: In other ways I'm quite positive , in this context I'm very 'savvy' about all the scammers on the internet.

  • I try to do everything myself.
  • I do really good work, but ran out of time.

Im only just starting out with IM and i am finding it hard to get to grips with things at the moment. I started spending money on the next best thing that came out but then i got wise to it all and stoped that nonsence. I know offer my services on fivver and i made over $160 in a month writng articles, creating banners and logos.

I have now got repeat customers coming to me because they like all my work and i also have 100% good feedback. I have made little bits of money from adsence and amazon, not much but i still keep trying. I finished school with no grades or anything, Ive been to jail because i was a naughty boy when i was a young man. All im saying is! If i dumb ass like me can make money online then anyone can.

Its not alot of money like i wish it was, but every little helps. Im now saving the cash up to take me, the wife and kids on holiday next year. Ive worked hard for it so why not.

For quick cash, goto fivver.

Peace everybody!

I don't imply that my work is 100% original... I actually tell them... "We are going to manipulate a professional WP theme in your honor. So there are limitations to the customization...."

This takes care of that problem... In my eyes anyway....

Start with local business around you and build website for them, using Wordpress. Charge them a bargain deal around $200-$500 per website.

Lets say you do door knocking of 30 businesses per day. which means 25 days x 30 = 750 leads per month.

Say out of 50 leads, 1 will give the job (remember, we charge bargain price).

This means we will get 15 new clients.

15 x $300 = $4500 in one month.

If you do good websites (or you can outsource it to the right people at right cost), you will start gaining refferal. The converstion rate would go higher than 50:1 and you can also start charging more premium price.

Once you got the web running, offer them SEO service as a monthly service. Use some automated SEO tools like SEnuke to free your time to focus on new clients while get steady monthly income from SEO job.

I generally feel comfortable outsourcing things I know something about so I can tweak and handle if need be. Comfortable is a negative sometimes, it's still on my mind, still thinking about it.

Hmm..desperation can kill you...so always BE CAREFUL...

Look outside of IM for immediate needs.

If you have friends....leverage them (as a list)

throw a party, have vendors...sponsors, etc. buying

your leads...offline.
