A new article on Search Engine Journal reports that a new update to the Google Ads mobile app will help keep advertisers more informed by using custom notifications.

The Google Ads mobile app is getting two new features to help advertisers:
  • Custom notifications about performance and status changes.
  • More data about fluctuations in campaign performance.

This is what those updates mean in a nutshell:

Custom Notifications

Advertisers will now be able to use the Google Ads mobile app to set custom notifications about things that matter to them. Let's say an advertiser wants to keep a close eye on the conversation around a sale - well, they can request automatic notifications when the conversation reaches a specific volume. To set a custom notification, you just need to go to the Settings page and choose to switch notifications on. Then, just tap custom notifications and set your preferred alerts.

Performance Insights

Performance insights are also getting added to the Google Ads mobile app. This feature basically means marketers and advertisers can stay up to date with all their campaigns when they're away from a computer. Advertisers can now access the same level of data available on desktop by using their phones. Not only that, but the app will send real-time notifications when any significant changes get detected relating to any of the newly added performance insights. Notifications explain why the change occurred, and Google Ads may offer one or more recommendations to help resolve the issues.

The two new updates are available right now in the latest version of the Google Ads mobile app on Android and iOS. They follow a long gap in terms of new features and upgrades in the app, which is weird because Google doesn't often go more than a month without some kind of update to its apps. The author says that apps like Google Chrome, Google Drive, Google Maps, Google Photos, and others are waiting for an update at the time of writing apps.
