Hi Friends, what does Google do if we don't specify the location while doing keyword research using Keyword Planner? Will it provide an average data?

By default, Google Keyword Planner uses just your country for search data. If you click the "edit" pencil next to the country name near the top-left, you can delete the default country and then it will show you the search numbers for the entire globe.

So lets really get into the heart of this discussion. You are in country A and you want to be listed in country B. For the most part THIS will NOT happen. There are of course exceptions to this rule... but for the most part not very often.

You have to understand how Google works... Google has for years, strived to localize results. Meaning Results are based apon the location ( literally ) of the searcher. If you search for a "Plumber" you will get for the most part local plumber results. When you search for say "CNC Router Table" you will get results by geography that are most relevant.

As an example, I recently bought a few CNC machines. One from China, and 2 others from Europe. ( Italy and Germany ) In all 3 cases, me living in the United States would have never found these 3 companies if I had relied on Google search results alone. I get American based companies. again there are some exceptions to this rule. Again using this example "Elephant CNC" is based in China but has an American office. and the site for the most part is written in more or less "proper" English. Far better than the site I bought mine from at the very least.

You are just fighting an extreme uphill battle the minute you are trying to reach from A to B, In SEO, and in paid ads.

Here is a little side note for those in the States as a further example of this. Have you ever searched for an item and seen eBay result? have you ever noticed that the eBay results presented when searching in the States are States based sellers products? You just have to know this is not an "accident". Thats how deep rooted the Google localized algorithm works.

    Hope that Helps!

When you use Google Keyword Planner to perform your search, you will, of course, get the average search data and possibly the monthly traffic. So, you don't need to supply the location before you get all those vital resources.
