Hi guys,
How do you build your list?
Is it so important?
Is giving free reports a good way to attract people to your list?

The basic way to build a list is to drive traffic to a squeeze page.

The reason it's so important is because your list is an asset which you can utilize whenever you want. It truly is as close to "money at the push of a button" as you can get.

The offer should be very inticing. Free reports aren't really the best gift these days. If you can give away a video series, membership or even trial software...your list will grow much faster because the value you are giving away is more compared to the traditional report.

Well, I'm not the best list-builder but I do know about list-building. So, here's how it works...

Traffic Source >> Opt-In >> Receive Lead Magnet

That's basically all you need to know. Once you go from there, you can start to get more detailed, and complex.

      1. I build my list right now through my blog. Blogs are definitely not the best way to grab opt-ins, but because of sheer numbers and trust I do have emails.

I'm working on my lead magnet right now, then I'm going to build my squeeze video and stuff. I'd be driving traffic to it from my blog, Twitter, articles, and a lot more.

      2. List building is important because it builds your relationship, and in a pretty professional way, if you ask me. It also lets you get right into their email box, and offer special deals on things. And importantly it makes you money when you need it - no waiting for SEO, or anything.

      3. Free reports are good, but you should also look around your niche and see what other people are doing. You want to do the opposite, or do it a lot better.

For example - Make Money Finding A Job In 365 Days pdf vs. Make Money Affiliate Marketing In 6 Hours video

A little extreme, but it's an okay example.

You shouldn't give away series things, in my experience. You want to give people their biggest solution - the biggest thing. I'm not saying it can't have lots of components, but if it's the one big thing that will make a difference then it's very compelling.

I also give unadvertised bonuses to go along with whatever I offer. I give people more than they bargained for, and make them happy just to have been interested in what I offer.

Hope that helps, tell me if you want more info!

You need to figure out what your market is looking for and offer them that through your list

1.Send traffic to your blog, or squeeze page

    2. Set up an instant lightbox popover if your using Aweber to capture emails. They may be annoying but they work mine converts at over 25% so that tells you something.

    3. Once you build up your list try adswaps, or here on the Warriorforum, and set up swaps with other marketers. This will build your list very fast...

And like everyone else has stated give away something of value for free, and build a good relationship with your list. Building a list starts off slow but it is like a train picking up speed, the more subscribers you have the faster it will grow.

    Good luck!

Even if you use Squidoo, you should know how to make your list to appear natural and useful for visitors. In other cases it will not help you a lot.

Just target exactly what your market is looking for and give it away. Your squeeze page should convert at least 30%, if not keep tweaking it.

PPV works great for list building along with cheap traffic sources, ppv traffic is also cheap btw, and yes giving away free ebooks, samples also works fine for list building.

Giving a free gift (An ecourse, ebook or some sort of file) is still an effective way of building your mailing list. Pop Ups also work if not intrusive (Not everyone likes them but they do vastly increase your subscribers when used right).

One big thing I've noticed is more people subscribe if you simply ask them! Simply set up a squeeze page, add people on twitter that are proven to be interested in your niche, and message them to download your free ebook / course (Only those that follow you). I always get a bunch of subscribers whenever I do that...

The info in this thread is very good. I have found the best way to build my list is guest articles on others websites. Squeeze pages are very simple to setup. Niche list builder is a very good tool for creating quick squeeze pages.
