Over 2K searches for this term but how do I monetise it?

2 weeks ago I found a search term that gets just over 2,000 searches a day and to my surprise there were no Adwords advertisers.

I did a Adwords test and actually had closer to 3,000 impressions a day.
Because I was the only advertiser I bid 8 cents a click and got boatloads.

Thing is, I have no idea how to monetise it. I have adsense but for the life of me cannot think of other related monetisation methods to put on there.

it is an arcade game site. I bought the exact match domain but it will be tough getting to the top 3 as those sites are SEO'd to perfection.

If I can get a lot of people to the site thru Adwords I need a way to make enough to offset my advertising costs.

Any ideas?

Craig

    Hi Craig,
Hmmm...maybe it's a good keyword for monetization and maybe not? The fact that there are no adwords advertisers could be an indication that this particular keyword wasn't converting to sales for advertisers previously...or has little to no value commercially.

Sorry to rain on your parade there...I wouldn't invest too much effort into the phrase personally. What I try to do is ask myself what people are thinking when they type the phrase into the search engine. Is it a buying keyword, or is the person more or less looking for additional free information? If so, adsense might be your best bet.

The reason the commercial value aspect comes to mind is because I recently viewed some free video tutorials on the Market Samurai site (recent) on the four golden rules of keyword research. One important aspect that this tool will check for you is the commerciality of a keyword. In essence, if there are advertisers, that's usually a good sign, especially if your competition levels are decent.

    Hope that helps!

    Elise
