Apple iPad using ePub format for ebooks -

With the launch of the iPad:

Amazon might be a wee bit worried (or not, already mixed thoughts on Job's new baby) as this iPad has the potential to overshadow the Kindle.

Well, IF it is successful then why not get your e-books in a format that the iPad will be able to read?

Apparently Apple use ePub format and that's all open platform stuff - see here:

Mmm, interesting eh?

I started reading about the ePub format minutes after it came out of Steve Jobs' mouth.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

What did you use to create your Epub files from word docs?

      ITS NOT AN IPHONE!!!

I HATE it when people make stupid generalisations like that. If this thing surpasses allthe bad gossip that people are spreading about it, it WILL overtake the netbook.

Heck, how's you like to wake up every morning to your emails, your favourite newspaper, a little brain-engaging puzzle and a fully functioning keyboard all in a machine thinner that most flat monitors?

This will revolutionise the computer. No doubt. And It will make IM-in-bed a real possibility.

If I hadn't seen this on a video, I'd have said that was a photoshopped iPhone.

However, I did, and despite the fact it's going to sell shedloads - I'm most likely going to be getting a shiny new iMac instead.

Apparently "great minds"* do think alike.

Researching "ePub" is about two or three down on my list of "things to do".

From a bit of preliminary research I did a couple weeks ago--right after the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show, where a slew of e-readers were introduced--the ePub format is predominant among non-proprietary methods.

*Going through the same thought processes as Peter, Dan and Karl indicates one of two things. Either I'm on the right track or these guys are as clueless as I sometimes think I am. Hope it's the former.

I hope it's the former too.

Has anyone found anything yet on video/audio support on the iPad for the ePub format?

Unfortunately, Apple has done it yet again, and intentionally crippled its iPad. Adobe itself has stated that the ePub books for the iPad will NOT be accessible on other devices because of Apple's DRM restrictions -
