Targeting keywords and ...

What do you guys think of this.

Target low comp. high volume keywords so you can get a nice steady stream of traffic from them and then when the traffic arrives on your site... have very high competitive keywords on that site (ex. Landing page).

Is this better than having the keywords you were getting traffic from on you actual landing page? Wouldn't the more competitive keywords on that landing page increase the conversion rate of the page as these are the keywords that are way better than the ones you targeted? Leading to more opt-ins and in a way...you kinda targeted the high comp. keywords in a sense but you actually targeted the low comp ones. Meaning you get something out of it. ...right?

I guess this is something that could be split tested too. ha

    I think your split testing idea could help, but I would think that the keywords that got traffic to your landing page is mainly what the traffic is looking for.

    Of course you may have better keywords that are more specific in your niche that you think may help. But I would not be too worried about keywords but rather quality content when you get them to your landing page. You already have them on your page. Now make them want to give you their info.....good content.

    yea... quality content with with good keywords should do it.

    I don't necessarily need to be a copy writer to make a good page... right?

      No you do not need to be a copywriter. Of course learning how to write like a copywriter and reading and educating yourself on how to do write certain things like a sales page, resource box etc would help tremendously.
