Video Recording Settings

Hey,

I am hoping you can shed some light for me :-) I have just noticed that when I have recently recorded a few videos of late that the quality of the end product has been pretty bad! So I was wondering if anyone could help!

I am using a mac and what I use is either Screenflow, or IshowU HD, now the problem is I edit my videos with iMovie, and that seems to be where I am starting to loose the quality in my videos, I do not know if when I go to upload the video if my settings on iMovie are correct or not! When it comes to this technical its a NO GO with me lol

I thought I would ask here first before I go digging deeper on Google!

Thanks in advanced

If you are shooting on screenflow, you should just edit there! Are you aware you can import media like music and photos?

I don't get why you are pulling it into imovie to edit.

I think because am used to it! Right am gonna try that, I've never actually edited anything in Screenflow before believe it or not!
Right next question then when I have done that, is what is the best settings to export the video?

It is going to export into the .mov file

As for the settings, try the defaults first, and just play a bit.

It will depend on where your video is going next.

Whilst I've never used the two software programs in question, one thing that needs to be kept in mind when recording with one software program and editing with another is this: Make sure that the settings are the same for both programs. Use the same codec, frame size, frame rate, and audio settings to get the best results. This is tricky because the default settings on just about every editing software package I've ever used has been different, but if you figure out how to adjust them to the same ones as your screen capture program, you shouldn't have any loss of quality.
