A Way To End the Madness?

I was reading Steven's post here - http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...t-refunds.html - and it made me think about something.

Isn't it possible to make your digitally downloaded products inactive after a refund?

I know that I read on here or the old forum about a Warrior getting a refund request and giving the customer the refund, but then disabling the product that the customer downloaded.

I know that Boomerang List Builder is able to activate and deactivate PDFs in regards to list building, but is there any way to protect your products after a refund is given?

Please tell me there is a way.

    The only way that I could think of is if the product checked a database on your server every time the product was opened. The only one that I am aware of that does this is Ebook Pro by the late Cory Rudl. I've never used it but I know that it includes that function.

            Not offhand that really works...but I can think of a cross platform product that will work. If you outsource it I bet it would sell hehe...

            Use Adobe flex/Adobe air to make a product you can create the ebook in...It will now run on Mac,Linux, and Windows...and also be able to have license keys etc...and phone homes. This is something I was going to take a crack at making but I don't have anytime to play with flex with all the PHP work I have on my plate.

            But anyway...basically the ebook would no longer be a PDF... BUt would be just as cross platform as one.

            If it's ebooks Chris, then Tim is correct. The only thing out on the market is ebook pro 6 I think, unless there are clones like it.

            The ebooks are exe files that have keys. The seller can disable any key they want at any given time.

              There is no way you can do this with PDFs...

              If you have your ebook in EXE format which connects to your site whenever it is opened, you can block the access...

      Hi Chris,

      Just wanted to let you know I'm using eBook Pro 6 to distribute my info products - and it works like clockwork!

      You can create the eBook from html - so I'm using XSite Pro to create a web-project and then just create the eBook exe file from it. Then I generate codes for the eBook - as many as I want. I can set the number of PCs a particular copy can be registered to, I can see all the registration details, can import them to work with the data, can enable/disable users, can see all the activity that happens to the eBook users, in other words I can see and do pretty much everything.

      Some say that pdfs are more reliable etc, but I find eBook Pro 6 a very good solution - since you can put video and audio in it - making it a really professional solution.

        Yeah, I heard about that service.

        Is it a one time charge? Also, do your customers have to be connected to the internet to be able to read or view the product?

            I found several applications that claim to be able to disable both software and ebooks after refund. I posted a possibility a few months ago but the post was deleted - guess someone thought I was selling it (I wasn't).

            I found some potential programs searching google for "how to disable ebooks" and "how to disable downloads" - so try that (without quotes).
