Learning from failure - Please come in and share your experience

Hi everyone, let's have a discussion like what i have post on the title, 'learn from failure', hope can help to solve the problem for anyone who have the same problem, and of course, giving a lesson for newbie who haven't met with this problem yet.

Please share if you did fail in the past, and how u overcome it, with what kind of strategy?

I would constantly move from thing to thing, product to product, and service to service in hopes that whatever I bought would be the solution to my problem.       I think this is the biggest thing that holds most marketers back is that they constantly move from offer to offer and don't have the ability to really focus on their goal. My advice to anyone is to find something you feel extremely comfortable with, there's proven results/testimonials that show that it works, and that you have a solid mentor that will lead you to where you want to go.

      Ya you are right, lack of focus. When the informations today on Warrior Forum are over-loaded, the newer person will confused what they really need to do. Actually it's just simple. We just have to focus on one niche that we passionate with, do research, planning, structuring, and execute it. Do untill the end. You will see the result.

      Many of the newbie today likes 'instant money' instead of planning for long term. That just will bring you into the wrong way.

    My biggest failure was also one of my greatest successes. Just over focused on a small part of one aspect of a big (huge) picture. Made for as lot of catching up to do in other areas (that i am still catching up on. )

    I used to spend all my time reading IM information without putting any of it to real use. The fact was, I knew all about the subject, but didn't really have anything to show for it. It was a little embarrassing because you feel like you almost deserve to be making decent money online when you know so much. Plus, I was reading about new techniques all the time, which made focusing almost impossible. What to do- adwords, ppv, site flipping, seo, article marketing , info products.... $&%!!!
    Something needed to change though. I was wasting my time away while the going was still good. Who knows how much different all these techniques will be in a year or 2 from now. Start earning now while the internet is ripe for IMers.

    Basically, I just stuck it to myself and started getting to work. Haven't looked back since.

      Yup you are right, sometimes we just have the resolutely oppose and start working. First step of choosing for your own product is important, then research and after that talk less, do more.

    Not letting things go and holding on to the bitter end. Learn to recognize when something isn't working to cut your losses and move on before dumping more time/money/effort into it and frustrating yourself exponentially further!

    Find what works. Copy it. Copy it. Move on.

    Like others in this thread, I also lost focus. I would work HARD all the time, but I would change from project to project without seeing them through to the end - I'd say that if I had just stuck to ONE thing I would be in a much better position now, but then again, I would never have learned as much as I know now

    I also had a learning curve when I started working for others freelance. The great thing about being self employed is that you have more control over what you do. However, I always tried to please everyone and I let people take advantage of me - I did a lot of extra work without getting paid for it. I learnt two things during this time 1) that it's ok to say 'no' sometimes and 2) going the extra mile DOES make you stand out in the mind of customers, but you just need to get rid of those customers that don't appreciate it.

    Failure is such a great way to learn!

    Mine would be sticking with a dead end product/website/niche or whatever for too long.

    Sometimes you think if you just do that one more thing it will actually work and end up spending a huge amount of time on something not worth the effort.

    While you should give everything a good go if you have researched and feel there is potential ... sometimes it is better refocusing your attention back on something else.

    It is a little like gambling ... you spend so much time on one thing that when it doesnt work you are loathe to just cut your losses when you should!

    Well, I am totally new to this profession...lured by some of the clever sales letters.
    Everything is new like even the terminology: ppc..cpc..sep.ceo.optimization.seo..and the list goes on, then of course there are all the offers and each one will turn you into an overnight success earning 5 figures plus..So afetr a couple of days the question is where do I start and whom can I trust, and how much help will a dummy get and for how much.
    Maybe someone could do a "How to start" with comparissons from the best offers so people can see what is available and the prices, or is it a case of trial and error?
    I know this forum helps allot, and I wish I had known about it quite a few dollars ago.
    I really believe that from here success is possible from the thoughts and help from others whom have gone before.

      Your point is valid and I made a post on this topic.

      #1 - Stop spending money...you found this forum, you are light years ahead (I found this firm in my 5th year of making money online, would have been great to have in the start)

      #2 - Which does against #1, look at the free into here, maybe invest in the war room (it is $37)

          I think these two posts sum up the major barrier to success in IM. I'll throw my name in that hat as well. It wasn't until I just took Mukul's advice and stopped buying stuff that I finally finished a couple of projects and, what do you know...people wanted to buy them.

          If the two most profitable words on the internet are...

          ...then the two most profitable words to internet marketers must be...

    Sitting here reading what you gentlemen/ladies have posted and I realize that I virtually understand the mechanics of IM and maybe am just nervous about moving forward with what I know and have learned. But seeing that you have posted it on here has caused me to stop looking for something new and just dive into work. Great thread.

    I feel one of the reasons alot of people fail is they get distracted too easily in their early days.

    A good tip is to have a "distraction sheet" & every time you get distracted right it down. At the end of the week review this & you'll be amazed at how much time you've wasted by checking your emails, watching YT videos, staying on forums too long etc.

    Alex Jeffreys uses a distraction sheet & a timer aswell.

    Use a 7 day planner & don't get distracted & you'll get super productive which in return gets faster results.

    If you have a mentor who teaches you a system that will save you time aswell as you just follow it step by step.

      lolzz this is so me, i get distracted easily so i cant focus , first thing i do when i open the computer is to check my emails, forums and social networks , i think im going to try this distraction sheet

      plus i learned from travis sago, about an aerial view (or map) of what i want to achieve online... when you know where you are and where you want to go, it'll be a lot easier to keep on that direction... im gonna try all these for the next 5 days and post it in my blog

    I was wondering around aimlessly, from one project to another, constantly getting distracted. There is so much to learn.

    I have since written a business plan and have a daily planner. I do not open new mail - just delete it. I know it hurts.

      That's what it took me guys. Bouncing around from the next best thing to the next best thing. I didn't get ANYTHING done until I turned my back on all that stuff....well, at least for a little while.

      Be sure you watch Mukul's video. This is one of the guys that convinced me to stop buying stuff.

        Can I share a story with you about me and failing?

        I am pretty good at videos (I dont say that to brag, I say that because I got over 1.6 million views currently from videos made to sell product/service). I up until about a month ago would not do a video with my face on it, I refused. I did not believe I needed to and wanted to distance myself from the online business. Why, my fear of failure, I dont shave at most once or twice a week, keep my office clean and really did not want to bring people into my personal world.

        That fear of failure held me back. Within 12 hours of doing my first face video on my blog (link below), I got a message from U of T Business Society to come and speak (I was in Vancouver on the date it was on, so I turned it down). My wife asked how they found you and the person told me it was what I said in that video, now I am doing videos with me in it since I am more confident and not worrying if I fail any more. I made a video just for this post, that is how much fun I am having with this. That fear of failure almost stopped me from growing as a person and online.

        Point is dont hold yourself back from trying stuff since you are afraid to fail.

    Dont branch off unnecessarily into new side projects if that means leaving your cash cow websites unattended. In my experience, it's much easier to leverage and build upon your already-established cash cows, than it is to start off a new "potential" cash cow from scratch.

    So, it's more profitable to focus and build on your best few sites rather than expand into a myriad of new "cool" things.
