Laptop Battery On Last Legs - Where Do Buy Replacement Batteries?

In the past I've had bad experiences with ebay. Poor quality batteries.

My laptop is a Lenovo T61 and it's a little over 2 years old.

Should I pay the extra $ and get a genuine Lenovo battery, or can anyone recommend a quality battery replacement source that's the same quality at less of a price?

    I've bought both kinds for my cell phones in the past: the originals are usually superior in a number of ways. They hold a charge longer, they last longer, they can be charged more often, ... at least that's my experience with unbranded batteries vs. the original.

    If that's the case, I'll buy the originals. Sometimes you can find great replacements for less than original manufacturer prices.

    My laptop is a HP, and when my first battery started to wind down I called the shop where I bought it and was quoted $136...I found the same battery, brand new in an unopened box for $70 on EBay. So it pays to shop around a bit on price.

    I have a Dell and when battery died I looked around. Finally, went back to Dell. Price was not much higher and I knew what I was getting. OEM has some benefits.

    Here in St. Louis they have a store called, "Battery Plus." Works for me.

    eBay batteries always fail quickly. I have original Canon camera batteries that are still charging and working and the "double life" ebay clones stopped holding charges a long time ago.

    The poor man always pays twice!

    I've bought batteries from Amazon without them being made by my notebook maker and haveb't had a problem with them. Then again, my neighbor bought one and it only lasts for 30 minutes while mine lasts about 4 hours

    I'm just ordering a lenovo and have spent a lot of time on their site lately. It's an education btw. One of the footnotes I do remember seeing was a mention of problems with non-lenovo replacement batteries.

    I used to ignore this kind of stuff in the auto industry but have so much respect for lenovo that I wouldn't be surprised if it was true. Their batteries didn't seem expensive anyway. Also, you might want to take a look and see if you can get a longer life 9 cell for your laptop while you are at it.

      Interesting information. By the responses I've gotten, I'm sticking with Lenovo!

    maybe you met the bad seller, as a friend of mine purchased a lot of thing from eBay, but there is no problem up to now, I bought a Battery for Lenovo Ideapadfrom a website store, I just use Google search for it, maybe I can receive my battery today or tomorrow, very expectant
