Domain Redirect issues using Cpanel/Wordpress

I am trying to redirect a page of my site to an affiliate offer instead of buying new domains for this purpose. If I set up a redirect using cpanel (redirects), it doesn't work. I prefer to use cpanel so I can access everything at one time, but not sure if there is an issue because of Wordpress.

Wondering if anyone else has dealt with this and knows how to get around it.
Thanks

Not sure if WordPress would be creating an issue or not.

But you can do the same thing right in WordPress with ILWP Simple Link Cloaker. It's what I use.

You could also install the Pretty Link plugin (the free version) and set up all the redirects right inside your WP Admin panel. It is as easy (if not easier) to set up than the cPanel redirects, it's all located in one spot and it shows plenty of stats for you.

It is possible that the Cpanel redirect conflicts with htaccess code that Wordpress uses for the permalink rewrite. I had a similar issue with a url redirect script conflicting with Wordpress.

Like VegasGreg suggested you can use the free version of Pretty Link Plugin for Wordpress.

What happens is that wordpress has it's own set of rewrite rules within the .htaccess file and they execute prior to the cpanel rewrite rule you setup so in order to patch it you have to edit the .htacess file. Copy the rewrite rules that are the bottom of the file that contain your intended cpanel redirects and paste them higher up in the file, above the #Begin wordpress comment line, therefor as the rules are executed in a linear fashion the cpanel rewrites will precede the wordpress re-write rules. Problem solved, although it is kind of a hassle to do everytime.
