Is .info considered a top level domain?
#main internet marketing discussion forum #answer #question #quick
  • Yes it is a top level, but I believe what you are asking is it a top choice, or am I wrong? As a top choice I would not go that route. I am not saying I am an expert by any means, but I have yet to see anyone show me why it is better to take anything but a .com domain. I have bought a few .net in the past if the name was very good and the .com wasn't available but typically I now just keep on trying to find a good name that I can get the .com domain extension.

The only reason I can think to have any of the other extensions is if you buy them all and keep the .net, .biz, .info or whatever for different purposes. I have bought them all so no one can get them and then put the others on redirect to the .com. But I don't normally do that either.

But that is just one man's opinion and I am sure others may have a different way of looking at it.

    • Yes. If it were not a top level, it would be .info/anotherpage.htm

  • Answer is " Yes" but a .com is always preferable due to the habits of most online surfers automatically putting .com after every domain name so go for .com if it is available.

    • Answer = Yes

Question = Why are you asking?

Since I would agree with your other Fellow Warriors that a .com is Always Preferable / Better!

Hope this helps and Have a Great Day!

    yes .info is great domain
  • yes it is.

at present more people are buying it for the reason that aside it is cheap (many registrar having a sale), .com and .net are hard to get.
  • It seems that a lot of registrars offer .info for dirt cheap in bulk. I was suggest spending the extra few bucks on a .com, unless you're don't something really large-scale.
  • Yes its a tld, but google doesn't give it much authority since there really cheap to buy.
  • Yes!

That's one word but apparently Allen is not too happy with members posting a word only... hehehe
