Having some doubts before I register my domain.

Do .NET .COM .INFO really effect your traffic? I mean would .COM domain get more hits than .NET or either both ways.<Just asking this for SEO issues>

Thanks

There's hundreds of these posts. Why don't you use the forum search function?

I agree, .com's only advantage is for people who can't remember the proper extension, so type in "com" out of habit.

This is very true. You may also have an easier chance of selling the site in the future if it were .com. All depends on what your plans are. Personally, "not saying if it right or wrong" to all of those that think they are right and want to chime in with their right and wrong arguing, I always go for the .com first, then .net, .org. I rarely use .info and the others I dont even consider. Thats just me though.

Because it doesn't work worth a damn. I have used it dozens of times and get so much stuff that has nothing to do with my search. I get better results from using Google. At least Google returns stuff with my keyword in the results.

Yeah this is all over the place. In my experience the 3 main TLDs rank better than anything else, especially .info.

Preferably, you would want a .com name if you plan on doing any off site marketing such as TV, radio and print ads.

Additionally, if you are trying to create a MAJOR brand name, .com would be better suited.

Those things being said, the TLD you use won't matter if you are Off Page SEO savvy.

I have sites with .biz, info, .co.cc and .org, outranking my competitors .COMs.

It's all about how you market and push.

I agree with Alexa. I've faced the same dilemma before, and I believe that someone (rare, I know), typing in a domain name rather than clicking on a provided link might type in the .com address, rather than my own .net address. Whenever possible, I buy .com, .net., .info and sometime .biz. With one notable exception.
Once I purchased a .net domain, knowing that the person who owned the .com version was doing nothing with the name and it was set to expire soon. The gamble paid off. The domain extension expired, and I got it at the recent .99 special at Go Daddy.

I find .info's are better for redirects, not so much an entire site. So far I like my .org better than some of my other ones. I think the .org's give off the perception of being more authoritative and less commercial, even if they're just as much or more so in reality.

After months of testing, the team I was working with discovered that .org is actually the best next to .com... email me for more info and specific stats. For a perfect example, google 'casualty auto insurance'. The #1 result was achieved using this method.

I tend to agree. I've gotten first page ranking (5th and 6th) on Google with a .info extension.

Have good stuff on your site, and Google will reward you with a high ranking. People looking for information on Google don't care what the extension of your site is, as long as it's giving them the info they want.

It doesn't matter what you're using, .com, .net, .info, or .org the point is how you work on it to boost your sites traffic and how you increase your page rank in search engines, like google.

Does not really matter in ranking your page. Use the right keywords, the extension will just follow.

Why not? Lots of .org, .info etc make it to the first page of Google. You are losing out on lots of keyword rich domain names by following your advice. But, go ahead and do that and leave those domains to me.
