Cool video tip. Does it suck a lot of bandwidth hosting it yourself?

Also, that Honda bike actually looks pretty cool ... but, I can't think of anyone I know that's into motorcycles that would ride one called a "Unicorn Dazzler" ... lol

Has kind of a "Lisa Frank" sound to it.

You can host it on S3 and it wont slow anything down...

Actually, you must be serving the video quite a bit to cost $16 -- I use s3 for everything because it is robust enough to handle any spikes in traffic without crashing or buffering... And I have always found it to be inexpensive compared to the amount of $ I make off of the videos served... Are your videos bringing in $ for you?

I am not selling anything in the video. I can't sell anything in the blog. Adsense is the only revenue source right now because this market is young.

But the traffic is high. That page alone got 2000 unique visitors last month. I get 7000 to 8000 uv per day to this blog.

Seriously looking for video hosting alternatives.

I understand saving or cutting expenses is never ending goal... but your are promoting "making $1,000 / day with Videomarketing" ... so why is a $6 added expense this concerning?

I try to keep the expenses of each project below its profit level.

It is not about how much I am able to spend overall... its about how much I can spend for this particular project. I treat each project as a separate business venture.

Last month I paid $38 for S3 hosting for this project. I can spend upto $100 per month for this. And I already pay $50/month for VPS hosting.

If I keep adding more videos, I may end up paying $200+ per month which may not be feasible - for this project.

1 video gets 10,000+ views easily from my blog. If 1 video is 5 MB, then it is 50 GB of bandwidth just like that! That's $7.5 just to serve 1 video

If I am selling something in that video, then that's a whole different story!

Hope you got my point.

I looked at your site, why dont you use the video to try and up your optins? You could play a few seconds of the video for them and get them to optin to see the full video or something... then you can try to sell them all sorts of stuff... Also, are there no affiliate offers you could promote thru CJ that would interest motorcycle enthusiasts? I think you just need to monetize the site better... Your adsense was showing a chevrolet ad and your other banners were for delta and shopify - so you cant be making much from that... Figure out what you can sell them... Maybe its tattoos? Or maybe its tshirts and stuff like Harley Davidson people like to buy... I would find something for them...

The site get 99% traffic from India and no one has an affiliate program serving India and indian consumers. The market is young as I said. Got a good foundation. Will help a lot in future when the US trend catches up here.

The main wp plugin can be seen at my youtube channel, where I have done a video review of it (or if you read my profile you can see my site in there, and I have done a text/video review on it), but the generator I speak of is a couple of weeks away, since we're still beta testing, s should be ready to go in the next couple of weeks.

The current one also pings search engines to say you have uploaded a video, as well as include static pages (eg. landing/squeeze pages that are not part of your WP site)

Here's another tip for you all who are using articles.

Take each one of your articles and make a video of yourself talking about that subject and then upload it to YouTube.

People are more likely to click on a video of yours then an article.

So take each article, make a video out of it, upload it to YouTube, and then watch how you get some free traffic to it and to your link that you will need to add to your video.

This is great advice, but the problem is that it drains bandwidth. Yeah, and bandwidth is max expensive. Those web hosting companies that offer seven terabytes of bandwidth per month - they will shut you down as soon as you hit seven gigs.

OK I maybe am being a tad stupid here, but if you are adding a video embed URL into the plug-in and, for whatever reason, do not want it on your server, why not host the video on Youtube? I see that it works with a youtube URL in the FAQ on the plug-in site as copied here:

Use the YouTube URL as the file argument when using the embed tags, e.g. [flv:YOUTUBE URL HERE 480 360]

If you dont have the video file actually in your site and you can host it elsewhere, what is the difference between sticking it on Amazon s3 or on Youtube?

Include the image URL and you will be fine. But google does not take your image URL most of the time. They take a shot from inside the video themselves like YouTube. Perhaps they are preventing web masters from possible misleading of users.

FREE library and consolidate / organize and then
teach it?

Think about it .. then go do the same. You can create
a "quality education" like Harvard does and then sell
it for a hefty profit (like Harvard does).

It will not work with those.

I am not talking about video distribution. I am talking about hosting your own videos and getting it ranked.

The traffic will come to your blog's page... not the video sharing site.

you can use something like Amazon S3 and then embed it on your site, use the google video sitemap WordPress Pluging I mentioned.

As you can see from the examples I gave above is exactly what I have been doing to get first page rankings for most of my products I am promoting.

It works only with wordpress right now. If you want to do it for a static page then you have to create your own sitemap. You can find more info about it in Google's video sitemap guidelines.

Business owners don't have the time, manpower or know-how to do this. They just want the ROI.

With 200-300 videos you can SLAY the competition. This is a great tactic but must be followed up with BM's and links from articles to make it sticky

I am trying to do this and failing. I cant seem to get the video embedded on the page. The fields in the plug in are all in techno-speak and there are no clear instructions within the plug in on the plug in page and is therefore useless. Seems that unless you are very flash savvy, this is a non starter.

The problems started when the file with my video in (loads of flies in a folder after I converted to .flv) was too large to upload using the media upload thingy in wordpress. So I uploaded it with ftp to the domain root. Now I can not figure out how to put the video on the page and how to set up the complicated plug in settings. I am lost. Can anyone help please?

@Paleochora,

I presume you are meaning the google video sitemap plugin? If so, then you need to install one of the following:

1) I use a free video embed plugin called "Flash Video Player" http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/flash-video-player

1a) Or you can use Easy Video Player (which is a paid solution)

2) Then you can use short cut code like:

Code:

[flashvideo file=http://video.yoursite.com/test.mp4 image=http://www.youtsite.com/images/test.jpg /]

Then the plugin will pick up you are using flash video player and you should all be good, then go into the google video plugin settings and re-create the video sitemap and then go ping it..and you're done.

If you are using the google video sitemap plugin there is an option in there already you can either output to google video sitemap or mRSS (all automatically), then you take the url and submit to yahoo site explorer, and I am sure you can do the same for Bing.

if your pages are indexed and ranks well, then a video on that page will result in the video getting indexed very fast. if ur pages don't have good ranking then your videos will take long time to be indexed. some time even a month.

This is great and I am trying to implement it. Unfortunately it does not work for me. I upload the video flv files. Installed the FLV Embed. But I can not embed the video in my post It does not work.I might not inserting the video location the right way. I also did not find where you create the site map file. The name of my video file is video1. flv and it is in the public_html directory. I am not familiar with word-press and actually don't know ho to embed files into posted so please explain to me step by step.

Yes, I did not build backlinks and I ranked it

The thing that ranks is the page of the blog, not the video per se.

So if you are building backlinks at all, u do it for the blog post and not the video.

This works extremely well for pages which are ranking well already.

Say for example a page/post in ur blog is in no.12 position in the serps. Adding a video to the page will bring it to may be less than no.5 because ur competitors don't have videos on their pages. The numbers are very vague, but u get the idea.

Videos are considered high value content (both in terms of bandwidth and effort of making) and google gives extra importance to ur page.

And above all... people are more likely to click on a no.5 result with a thumbnail of the video than a no.2 result
