PayPal has two different reps...

Hey Everyone...

I've had a dispute going, appealed twice, finally accepted appeal, and still in process of getting my money back since say, may? This is for a tablet computer I ordered from China (BIG MISTAKE)... It was actually just a iPad clone with a picture of an iPad on the front (LOL) when it was an android tablet.

Since the tablet stopped working, I decided to return it, and actually paid the return shipping to China... Of course, since I shipped it from canada, I had to wait almost 2 months for delivery, so that's why we are at today .

Shortly before it arrived, I checked with PayPal to find out, they were watching the shipment and all was well.... Then I get an e-mail that I provided "FALSE TRACKING INFO", when just the other day, the rep had checked on my shipment.. I almost FLIPPED.

So I talked to paypal, and they told me it was lost it the mail, so I contacted my postal company who also gave me the right foot, and said, I would have to wait for a chinese postal company, and wouldn't tell me who..

This week I heard word, that my shipment had arrived, so I contacted PayPal to say.. "HEY, I returned it, wheres my tablet or my money?" and paypal clearly told me, that they would process the dispute in 48 hours and I would have my money back..

So as usual, I called back the next day to check in on the progress, and the guy goes "sir, we need more information", even though the day before everything was cool... So then he asks me (i don't have a fax) to fax him the canada post reciept... I did that as well, but still.. I sit here with no news from paypal.

How come there story keeps changing?

Caleb

Paypal isn't in business to pay or take money, but facilitate exchange. If the package was sent, they can't pay you back unless it was returned, etc... If you are shipping it through TWO systems, and one is a place like CHINA, it is bound to take a while, etc...

If you sent them the receipt saying that it is on its way back to the actual company, and not merely another shipper, they should take care of it. But if anyone tells you it is in china, etc... try to get that in writing, etc..., that should all but settle the matter.

ALSO, even if it is EFAX, or a program to send faxes via dialup, it is a good idea to be able to send/receive faxes.

Just out of curiousity, is this the foxconn ipad?

I don't know Steve.. that seems untrue when you look at all the horror stories of PayPal holding large sums for unrealistic periods. All they need is the slightest excuse and they can, and have, put a hold on huge sums of money. I just saw a game developer with over $700,000US in his paypal account get suspended because one of the money sources was suspicious. Since each payment is $10 the odds of the game developer sorting it out are almost non-existant so he's actually in the dark and at the mercy of PayPal because PayPal owns that money and will either refund it (70,000 refunds LOL) or (after dragging their heels for months and collecting the interest), they will release it to the most likely payee.

I've personally had a PayPal account suddenly get suspended with $400+ US in it because there was similar account connecting to them from the same IP address and they were unsure of my identity! I was told the release of funds would take up to 6 months and to be patient while they sort it out. I started calling them daily, playing nice, letting them know anything they wanted, and after about 6 weeks I got the money released. I've never done business with PayPal since and I never will.

+1 on having fax options from your PC. I was just telling Mike Wells in another thread to go hit faxaboutfax.com and check out the free trials link they just added. I was a hold out myself until I moved offices and had to sort out the phone lines forcing me to switch over to internet fax. If you're paying for a phone line, it's just going to save you money each month. ($12 a month savings in my case after paying for forwarding fees to keep my old fax#) :p

Well, I would be suspicious MYSELF about a game developer that SUDDENLY made 70,000 sales of a $10 game! I mean what are we to believe, that a site had like 2Million game players, or some such? And how long did he take to get the money, one day? I mean if he took much longer, why didn't he move money out?

HECK, I would NEVER keep $700,000 in any account tied to paypal. HECK, I would probably never keep $700,000 ANYWHERE! The most I have ever kept in any one place is like $60,000, and most of that is INVESTMENTS. The FDIC only insures $250,000, and that is only NOW! And I don't think paypal is FDIC insured. The SIPC only insures $500,000, with only half of it being cash!

You are getting the run-around because PayPal's different teams do not communicate well, and they pretty much do not know what to tell you. I assure you that the information you faxed them will not be seen. Did you pay with PayPal only? Or did you pay with a credit or debit card through PayPal?

Go at it like you are a valuable buyer:
You did not know the item was located in China, and that the item was fake and that you will be contacting Apple in regard to PayPal allowing a company to sell their fake products.

If you paid with a card, just do a chargeback.
