Hi all...

I just released a new content-rich article over at Vin Montello's "Marketing Clambake" blog... and it's quickly turned into his most commented upon guest-post ever.

If you use the phone to sell your copywriting... graphic design... article writing... consulting... or any other type of service, it's a legit must-read. Click below and you're there.

Marketing... copywriting... and all things related to making your business more profitable.

Thanks for reading... feel free to add to the on-going conversation at the blog.

    • There are two really important tips here (one that you make in your article):

      # 1: The most important thing you can do is ask questions and LISTEN to the answers.

Most people are so hung up on trying to convince someone to hire them that they forget that getting hired is not about you it's about what your client wants and needs.

The more information you gather about them the greater your chances of getting hired.

      # 2: Trying to "close" sales is the wrong mindset to begin with.

That would imply that you need to sell them on something.

If your sales posture is right your prospects should be trying to hire you and you should be asking them questions to see if you're a good fit.

There is no closing of the sale in that situation...just a mutual agreement that you can work together or the realization that you can't.

      Kindest regards,

    • I learned that little trick about 30 years ago in sales training ... and it holds just as true today.

Good job in illustrating it for those who don't know it or don't get it. And thanks for the new bookmark, too.

  • Great article...

I agree with everything you have said... I have been on that front line selling online and offline, in person and on the phone...

    You have it nailed...

    BUT, darn it...

You promised part two, and now I have to wait for part two??? LOL
