Top 10 Ways To Profit From PLR Articles

As marketers, we love good PLR articles, don't we? Most people that bad-mouth PLR - simply haven't every used them properly. They really cut down huge amounts of time in research and writing. And for those with a phobia of writing, they are a God-send. Here are the top ten things you can do to max the use of your PLR articles. Some are very common, but others are not. I'm going to countdown the ways to deal with PLR articles.

Tell me what you think about these...

#10: Re-write the PLR articles and submit them to article directories.

Old school, but hey, still highly effective. I'm sure you know the drill, submit to EzineArticles, GoArticles, ArticlesBase, Buzzle and a host of other directories with a link in your signature file pointing back to your site.

#9: Combine PLR articles together to form an ebook or e-report.

A little more advanced and requires a bit more work in terms of design and formatting, but very worth it, especially if the articles are about a topic in a hot niche.

#8: Reformat the PLR articles into an audio product (like an Audio ebook or a podcast).

This is a tactic that's as old as the Internet but surprisingly, one that many marketers do NOT do. I guess it's because it requires a lot more work and some technical skills. A good radio voice helps, too. Alternatively, you can outsource it or use text-to-voice software like nextup.com.

#7: Create slide presentation videos out of the PLR articles

This is fairly recent with the start of software like Video Article Robot that makes the job easier. And because of this, it's a relatively untapped strategy.

#6: Rewrite and distribute the PLR articles to profit-sharing sites

Some sites share their Adsense profits with the contributors of content. For example, docstoc.com. This website allows you to monetize the documents you upload and sell your ebooks also. Cool, huh?

#5: Create blog posts or membership site content out of them and drip feed them to your blog or membership site.

Content is king, remember? And Google rewards fresh, up-to-date and unique content, so when your blog is constantly updated with fresh articles, you'll make the Big G fall in love with it. The same applies to your membership site. Fresh content will cause your members to stay with you for a long time.

#4: Create a physical product out of them (like an audio CD, DVD or a physical book).

Again, this strategy is as old as the hills but few marketers do it seriously. This may be because the margin of profit is lower compared to digital products but the advantage of physical products is that authority sites like eBay or Amazon can market it for you. All you need to do is list your product on their website.

#3: Use the rewritten PLR articles as content for feeder sites (like web 2.0 properties) and traffic generation content (like Press Releases) to drive traffic back to your money site.

Great content draws visitors to your site. What better way to provide it than with PLR articles?

#2: Rewrite and repackage PLR articles and sell them as complete packages with RR, MRR or PLR rights

A complete package comes with a product, sales page, download page, thank you page and optionally an OTO page also. The more you make it easier for the customer (in this case, other marketers), the more sellable your package will be.

And finally, the #1 way to really make big bucks out of PLR products is...

#1: COMBINE as many of the above methods as possible.

That's how the wealthy gurus make their money. They always have content in many different formats used in many different ways - ebooks, physical books, audio CDs, DVDs, blogs, websites, articles etc.

Don't forget that each of the above tasks can be completely outsourced for as little as $5 on fiverr.com or other outsourcing sites.

It's easy to see why a really good source of PLR articles is invaluable to any marketer.

  • I love using PLR drip fed on auto-responders, especially if it is really high quality content that gives subscribers value. It's a great way to build a good relationship with your list and gets the email opened and read. They know they aren't just getting a sales pitch, but useful information.

Your #8 is a huge untapped market. Converting PLR to audio is fantastic!
  • Thanks for sharing... PLR is the best! No need to worry about my product creation from scratch
  • I agree with Ashley. Using PLR in an autoresponder works great. I still rewrite the articles a bit just to add my writing style to them.

    • Rewriting the articles is highly recommended and the best way to get real results. These are not privately written articles just for you.

The biggest mistake with PLR is just trying to copy and paste them - they are not designed for that use.

    • Do you have any suggestions where to purchase PLR auto responder series in the health and fitness niche?
That one thing would give me a boost going forward to building a list.
      THX.

  • Im not an expect in IM. I am learning all the words of IM. I know is a dumb question. What does PLR stand for? PR is page rank. PLR is ...?

    Thanks

    • Private Label Rights which means you have the right to redistribute the content as your own put your name on it rewrite it do pretty much anything you want with it.

    • PLR = Private Label Rights
  • Agree - I believe points 7,8 and 9 are most relevant and the most useful. A big timesaver.
  • Very well put how ever I can also think of another. Buy new plr content and wait till the sites that are using them go down. Then you become king for that niche and that content. Anytime someone else publishes that content you get another little puch up the ladder. I also search the titles and run copyscape checks on them to see how much they are alike others. If they are higher then 40% I rewrite them other wise I just use them as they are. It has worked really really well for me with a new site I created a few weeks ago. Already getting about 60 visitors to the feed and over 100 visitors to the site every day with out ppc and less then 100 total links to the entire site.

I have found my new site is already sitting on page 2 for a very competitive keyword in just the 2 weeks it has been up. Actually it wont be 2 weeks until sat but it is close enough.
  • Ah just thought of another great use for plr EMAILS create a simple emails series out of plr that you will give away on your sales pages with optins.

    • Yep, this is another great use of PLRs

      Chad
  • You can use your best PLR product(rewritten and with the same niche) as bonus for your own product. You can also submit it to article directory or use as backlinks or as autoresponder newsletter.
  • The thing is, IMO, you almost ALWAYS have to re-write because so much PLR is badly written: lousy grammar, nonsense sentences etc etc.

    James

PS Otherwise, I agree - esp. video/slide options.

    • Not all PLR is crap (some of us even have qualifications to boot). Though you should still do minor re-writes to make it your own.

  • Thanks for sharing the 10 ways ... it'll give anyone enough homework to properly implement even just one of the tactics.

It all comes down to consistency and persistence!

    • Putting them on blogs is good, although I would recommend rewriting them or spinning them.
  • Don't we all love PLR? If you know where to find, not all PLR products are crappy. How you want to use PLR is limited by your imagination. It takes some workload off me and a great form of leverage.

    • If you view PLRs as research and knowledge instead of "ready to go content" - it can really change the way you view and use them completely.

I like #7. I'm thinking of creating a video of my PLR articles.
  • I have used lot of PLR to my marketing campaign I think I have done 10,000 since 2008..
  • I think a PLR article should always be modified a bit to add your own personal touch, but then again you can do anything you wish with it which makes PLR fun fun fun!
  • Thanks for the great info. I've always wondered about PLR.
  • Thank You for this article, I recently started I M and still have a lot to learn. I had heard of PLR but had no clue what it was or what to do with it I was directed to your article by Tiffany Dow who recommended I log on to the WF and check it out.

    Very comprehensive thanks again.

  • Nice Post ... I had posted on blogging forum a while back where using PLR was discussed and all the replies were about "if you need plr, you shouldn't have a blog" type of posts.

    Here is a reply:
"I think that if you "need content" that you (or your blogging team, or the occasional visiting blogger) can't produce yourself, you really shouldn't have a blog. A blog should be a way to _publish_, meaning that you have content, or you have the desire and ability to create content. A blog should exist because you have something to say, not because you have ads to display."

Here's another reply that was posted to my thread:

"As far as I can tell, PLR content consists of articles on various subjects, that you buy to put on your website. In theory, you 'rewrite' them; in practice it appears that a lot of people use them straight.

So the entire purpose of a blog, the _content_, is purchased from someone else. To me, that's not a blog at all. "

Me? I think PLR e-books and PLR articles are great resources. I use PLR and rewrite them because PLR articles and ebooks are great for ideas generating and cutting down on research. ... and I'm sticking to it LOL

To each their own I guess.

    • There are purists in every field or topic who feel that their way is the only way. If you are publishing a blog for the purpose of sharing your opinions and feelings, yes, they should be your own. If you are blogging to share information, continue a discourse, or *gasp* make money, then where the content originates is irrelevant.

Think of it this way - a college professor usually teaches from an overpriced textbook that someone painfully compiled. That professor might have been the author, but more likely, he/she is using another author's text to teach the course. They add their own spin in class and in the accompanying materials, but the core information is not original to that professor.

Yet, it is perfectly acceptable for the college to charge $10,000-20,000 (or even more) per year to share that information. PLUS charging several hundred dollars more for the books themselves!
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I posted this in a thread not long ago, so here goes again...

Compile them into an ebook. A report doesn't have to be longer than five pages, though it can be as long as you want. (Five pages is five 500-word articles.)

So find five, ten, or even more articles on related topics. This may require some careful searching, because you don't want articles that overlap too much. For example...

    GOOD:

    General topic: Weight Loss
    Articles:
    1. Why our bodies are programmed to make it hard to lose weight
    2. Three steps to lose weight
    3. Five exercises to help you lose weight
    4. How to keep losing weight when you plateau
    5. Keeping weight off once you lose it

    BAD:

    General topic: Weight Loss
    Articles:
    1. Why it's hard to lose weight
    2. The difficulty of losing ten pounds
    3. Losing ten pounds and keeping it off
    4. Five ways to lose ten pounds
    5. How to lose ten pounds

You can still do it, but do you see how the first just naturally flows a lot better, rather than feeling like a bunch of articles cobbled together?

Use Open Office to copy and paste, format with a cover page, header with the title, and footer with your author name and page number. Export it as a PDF.

Now you have an ebook to give away to a list, upload to Scribd or Issuu, distribute to file-sharing sites, link to in your signatures on weight loss forums, and more.

  • Your #8 idea is one I am hearing a lot about, people wanting PLR content in the form of an audio. Providing PLR in the form of audio is becoming more sought after. I have not done this myself, but am going to be looking into it.

  • Currently doing #1 and will be using these articles not just to upload to article directories but also for my niche site as well....Most of the information above can be used to generate great amount of traffic but i realize you need to do it consistently.
  • I make videos out of PLR articles all the time. I just use powerpoint and narrate the slides and I'm good to go!

    • How's your success with this technique?

I have been considering it, but would like to hear your experience.

Do you provide it as a service?

  • There are some really great ideas in here! Thanks guys, for proving that not all PLR is junk. Unfortunately, the bad PLR tends to get all of the attention, but if you look, you can find some really great PLR - and some really great uses for it!
  • WOW! Thank you ccasselman.
Your tips will help me a lot! Now, just have to find good PLR materials. Any suggestions for health and fitness niche? Where to buy?
    THX.
  • Of course with that said, you can do a google search for "plr health autoresonder". I looked at the results and it looks like some pretty good ones available.

I would recommend something specific, but my niche is not health.
