A Squeeze Page In A Subfolder or Subdomain?

Hi. I'd like you to help me with this dilemma. I have a blog and want to start building a list through article marketing but I don't know if I should have the squeeze page in a subdomain (squeeze.mysite.com) or in a subfolder (mysite.com/squeeze). Which do you suggest? Has anybody tested which one is better?

    I've never tested that, I always put mine in a subfolder. It's just more simple than creating a subdomain.

    two schools of thought on this........

    if your doing a url hack 'checkthis.site.com' then it could work well.

    no harm in trying both but adjust the text so both are not completely duplicated
    and all you have to loose is maybe an hour or two at the most

    experiment and see what works best........try, fail, try, fail....try again until you succeed

    My vote is the sub-folder or sub directory. It by far has got to be the easiest way to set a "clear" area to concentrate that squeeze page.

    Takes only 5 seconds to add a sub folder with an FTP program. Takes maybe an hour on "NVU" HTML editor to put up a simple squeeze page and upload it to the sub directory and ....voila!

    really $97 on the high side. Hmm to me that is cheap, sorry if I find a cheaper solution I will be sure to let you know about it

    I prefer a subfolder rather than a sub-domain. Why? Subdomains or Subfolders : Which are Better for SEO? | Search Engine Journal

    Install WordPress on it.
    Make a page without any sidebars and paste your sales copy and opt-in code.
    Make the page as Home page in Settings->Reading.

    And voila, you have got a squeeze page on your wordpress installed subfolder to test and try your marketing.

    Hello Alex!

    Sub-domain vs. Sub-folder?

    Sub-folders win hands-down cause they can be setup in 2 minutes.
    If you were verbally talking about your squeeze page in a webinar or to
    a friend, it's easier to remember a sub-folder rather than a sub-domain.

    Try pronouncing: YourDomain.com/quickstart

    Creating sub-folders work well cause they don't affect you blog's
    automatic permalinks nomenclature. So, there's no conflict.

    My best option would be a new domain for a niche that I'm really going
    to put lots of effort for a long time.

    For testing
    potential niches, it's okay to have multiple sub-folders
    cause it makes no sense to buy a new domain for every hunch.

    If your main focus is list-building using article marketing, it's ok to have
    sub-folders. Your BIGGER question is how to track visitors coming from
    article marketing. Make sure to use specific sub-folder(s) and web-form(s)
    only for article marketing.

    I would say sub-folder (sub-directory) EXCEPT if your squeeze page template contains it's own folder or images and possibly a css file.

    EXAMPLE:

    Sub-Directory : www.yourdomain.com/squeezepage.html

    This is fine if your squeeze page references the full URL of images and the css file (if available) stored elsewhere on your server.

    Sub-Domain: squeezepage.yourdomain.com

    I recommend the following scenario for this method.

    You have a fully contained squeeze page (index.html) with it's own image folder (/images) and css file (style.css)

    In this case the index.html (squeeze page) would show up on the main subdomain: squeezepage.yourdomain.com

    Nevermind, I'm probably confusing you more with that explanation so go with the subfolder.

    Doesn't matter really... no need to spend time caring about the minor details sub-domains take like a minute longer than folders.

    Spend more time testing the big stuff like your headline of your squeeze page, and the complete design of the squeeze page these will have the most impact... once you're getting 1,000s of visitors to your page then maybe worry about it
