Webmaster Tools question

First that is for a 30 day period and not yesterday. You can not get numbers for yesterday in webmaster tools. If it was for one day the graph would just show a single dot. Third the numbers they show you are not actual numbers but a round set of numbers given to you. So you can figure out where you should be working to increase traffic and where you can stop working to increase traffic.

Its much like using the google trends tool. It gives you a rough idea of when a market is going to take off and when a market is going to die. It will get you close but in no way will it get you the exact dates and or numbers.

I selected yesterday, but it will not allow that and it was showing for 10/19 - 10/20. So it is for two days I guess. You can configure the date range up at the top just above the graphic I posted.

But what I don't understand it why the two numbers would be different.

The numbers are different because of the days and what was actually searched. The numbers given to you should not be used as the traffic you actually get. This is the numbers of the people who searched for the terms you are targeting and gives a very very rough idea of the actual clicks. Again it is only suposed to be used as a guide and not actual search engine traffic. Use it to find your most profitable keywords you are already targeting. Use it to find your most searched keywords you are already showing up for.

For if your page is on page 6 and still getting a few hundred impressions in a day for that term then you should focus on that term as one of your main keywords. This will help you build a massive amount of traffic really fast with very little work. Simply by using the numbers the webmasters tools gives you as a guide. I also know the webmasters tools does not actually record the clicks anywhere close for one of my most profitable terms for one of my sites is getting on average 15 clicks a day according to analytics and 25 clicks a day according to expo-max. Where webmaster tools actually does not show any clicks at all.

Thank you. It just amazes me that they provide these tools, but can't give you the correct data. I guess it is better than nothing.

I was just curious. I get more information from StatCounter, and that is showing me pretty decent traffic from G and GN. Not managing to get many clicks though. I have to figure out which articles are the ones that generate clicks on my ads. Other wise, this is just a hobby. I enjoy doing it, but I would enjoy it much more if I was seeing some revenues. But it is a learning experience, and I am doing much better than I ever have in the past. So I am sort of happy, so far.
