Dead Blogspot Site Has the Same Name as a.com I want- Can I use it?

Curious of peoples opinions. I am mulling over the possibility of changing one of my blogs names.
I am not sure if I am going to do it- because in addition to the pros there are many cons (loss of readership, loss of facebook fans..) But just in case I secured the .com I want.
But here is the thing. There was a blogger using the same name, but with the .blogspot domain. She has not posted to her site since Jan 09. Should this be an issue?
