How to Make $1000/Month with Article Marketing for FREE...

...and everything else you need to know about Article Marketing.

Did somebody mention a thread containing all the information you need to know about Article Marketing?

Well, here's something to start it.

One of the best things I like about article marketing is that anyone can write a simple article for almost any niche and start their career in Internet Marketing without spending a single cent. More so, when it comes to Article Marketing you have the ability to quickly change from one niche to another in the case where you might not hit a winner straight away but on one of the projects you do start making money in, you'll have the potential to earn money for a long time.

It's most likely that you've heard one of the following phrases or questions once before. "What's a good way to make money without spending money?" or "I can't believe I just received a commission on an article I wrote 3 months ago!"

I've heard variations of these so many times.

It's funny though, when I first thought about simply writing articles promoting a product wouldn't be the answer to the question or above, or that writing a few articles a day let alone in an hour that would make money for an extended period of time was

  • Impossible
  • Not worth my time

Obviously, after giving it ago I found that it was quite easy and was definitely worth my time. Why? Consider the point I mentioned above. 1 article on a popular directory can hold rankings in major search engines with almost no work and can earn great commissions or sales for months on end.

Best of all,

It can be done for FREE. You don't have to pay for hosting, and countless .com domain names, it is really just writing correctly set out articles in the right niche.

Regardless of your skill, you can send your article to the top of the rankings just by doing things right, all you really need is the "know-how" of what it takes to get an article to the top of search engine as well as knowing what converts.

Which brings me back to the first point I mentioned, that many people often ask "what's the best way to make money without spending money?", and I'm always surprised when people reply by saying "write articles...for others". Here you might make $5 or $6 quickly, but wouldn't you rather earn a passive/recurring income from these articles instead? Article Marketing is probably one of the truest Set and Forget Systems

How set and forget?

I started a new campaign in a new niche on by writing articles and submitting them in Ezine Articles. After writing 18 articles over a few days they've resulted in over 90,000 views over several months without any linking and promotion whatsoever.

These are some the things you want to consider when it comes to article marketing:

  • Title Selection

Title selection is probably the most important part of your article. While a good optimized title will provide you with one of the largest boosts in terms of SEO benefits i.e. your title should include the keyword you want to rank for, but it will also be a huge factor when it comes to "hooking" in people.

Before I began trying to do article/bum marketing I did a bit of research on copywriting, because what we are really attempting to do is to presell our readers into purchasing a product.

So what I would recommend is reading some of the threads in the Copywriting section of this forum as there are a variety of ways when it comes to writing a killer title or try and find a copy of some of Ted Nicholas' work or something done by Yanik Silver but there is tones of info on this stuff out there, so find someone's work that you like to read, and read about what they have to say about copywriting, or just head over to the copywriting section of this forum.

  • Competition

One of the things you must consider when it comes to article marketing is the strength/number of competition you have. The beauty of article marketing is that you'll be submitting your articles to already high ranking directories, which instantly provides your article with some authority. I've had several articles and hubs which are able to gain #1 spots with no back linking whatsoever; all I did was submit it to a directory and a few days later, bamm! I'm on page #1 for a keyword with 350,000 competing pages.

  • Google Keyword Tool

Ok, so this is a funny thing. Many people spend a while searching for the right keyword. Now, this can be done, but what we are looking for is a quick commission not some huge authority site that we are planning on building. So that's why I DON'T always write my articles based on a keyword which looks good in Google Keyword tool. Some of my article have ZERO monthly searches, but still get 100 or so targeted visitors a month and a sale or two. Surprising? However, if you manage to stumble across a keyword that you found in the keyword tool which has some monthly searches and low competition, then I would prioritize this.

So really Article marketing for me, is about a great title, competing pages, but monthly searches is a bonus. Ultimately I think it comes down more to competition than it does searches, as ranking #1 for a low competition term with low searches is better than not ranking for high search volume.

FORMAT OF THE ARTICLE

Without a great title, your article/ format of the article is really redundant. So make sure you have a good title before you even consider writing an article (or right it but don't submit it anywhere till you have a good title).

The format of the article is really up to you.

However, formatting your article in some ways, will allow you to write quicker and produce better and higher converting articles.

Besides titles, I would highly recommend that you do nail down some format which you can easily stick to which allows you to pump out articles in 15 minutes, this can be things like, telling a story, "5-10 Benefits" or a series of Questions and Answers.

For those of you who would rather just "wing it" and write an article, all you need to do is go to the landing page of the product you are trying to achieve the commission for and, rewrite it from scratch, or by drawing on the main benefits the product is emphasizing. However, the main drawback of this is you can probably write 1 or two articles of this style per product, but if that's the direction you want to go in, then do it.

So, right now here is where you are going;

  • A Good Catchy Title
  • Low Competition
  • Be able to write an article in 15minutes

Again, trust me in saying when you get the format of article writing right (with a killer headline of course), the articles you pump out in 15minutes will be long time earners.

With this, you really shouldn't be struggling to write about anything, even if its in a topic you haven't really heard much about (not ideal but can be done) because seeing what the product is claiming to deliver or reading an article on a similar topic, will be enough for research.

If you are really stuck, then try and find an article/ plr article on the same subject, open it in word, and then in between two paragraphs start writing the first paragraph in your own words and then just go from there and only refer back to the article if you get stuck.

From my personal experience Unique content will always win. I once wrote an article for a small niche, it was around 500 words and was absolutely unique. I received some decent traffic and commissions just from submitting the article and a month later I thought I should try and add more to this niche but I didn't really know what else to write on (again small niche and I had limited knowledge of the niche), so I searched the internet for content and plr articles and came out with some pretty standard stuff, and ultimately a poor article that probably just passed the sites guidelines by the skin of its teeth. Since then this articles performance has been abysmal and when I look back at it now, the time I spent trying to find small bits of content that would work well together was probably the same amount of time I now spend writing unique articles that actually perform (but these can be based of PLR content/just don't always copy and paste).

It's really that simple, when it comes to writing an article.

  • Catchy Headline
  • Low Competition
  • Done in 15minutes
  • (And try and make it Unique)

Now one thing you must remember is having a good resource box where you are able to establish yourself as an authority on the subject as well as reaffirm your call to action.

With the resource box you'll be needing to check each sites Terms Of Use for what you can/can't include in a resource box. The main thing you'll usually come across is if your allowed to have affiliate links in your articles, in most cases you can't. That's why I usually purchase a .info domain name for a dollar or two and mask my affiliate link.

ARTICLE SUBMISSION

So, hopefully you have learned how to format your articles to be able to pump them out in 15minutes or so (they only have to be around 400words as well).

The next step is obviously, submitting your articles. Honestly, I don't really have to walk your hand through this step, because I don't think it's that hard. Find a top directory that has some decent terms regarding to outbound links in both the article and resource box. These Page Ranked Article Directories are sites like

EzineArticles (My Favourite), GoArticles, ArticleBase etc etc

Now, there are really two routes you could be going on.

  • Putting all your Eggs in One Basket
  • Spreading out the load

Now, I have used both and to be honest, for me it doesn't really matter which directory you want to submit to. The reason being, the level of competition should be low enough for you to rank easily for the keyword regardless of which directory you want to publish it on.

However, if you choose to spread out the articles on different networks (and they are on the same niche), then if you happen to miss out on ranking in the top few spots for the keyword, then some simple interlinking between the articles may just be enough to push your rankings up.

Another advantage of spreading your articles out is you are covering your tracks in the slight chance that for some reason if the sites TOS changes or they go down, then you won't lose everything. However, I tend to look at that with less popular directories as opposed to the larger ones.

One thing to keep in mind is if you think you'll be hitting the top end of page 1 every time, then it doesn't really matter when it comes to needing to have links between the articles.

One other thing to consider is things like revenue sharing. If when you are just starting out and you are lacking your abilities to presell or direct traffic, then you might want to consider publishing an article on sites to the like of Hubpages in order to try and earn some money through AdSense (please note that they often restrict the number of links that can be placed in an article). However, this is definitely something to consider.

If you want to take it one step further, consider the category you'll be posting your article in.

Here you want to look at how many articles you'll be competing with in the category. For example, a main directory will have more articles in it than a sub directory.

Therefore you'll be able to be a more competitive author with more articles seen in the smaller sub categories gaining you more exposure in your selected niche.

So while the actual article should take your focus, thinking about dominating a niche in a sub category of a directory should also bring good benefits to your campaign.

SUMMARY

Remember, almost ANYONE can make some money with article marketing, as I've explained article marketing comes down to a few things and this will often determine the future success of the articles

  • A Good Catchy Title (with Keyword)
  • Low Competition
  • Be able to write an article in 15minutes
  • Simple Submission

Probably the most important factors out of these would be the title and time it takes to write an article.

I'm not going to lie and say every article I've written has been a winner. But what I will say is "at least I spent about 15minutes working on it".

For those articles that don't perform, move on to another niche/product or style, because really article marketing is a numbers game. The more you take action and write, the more you will learn (from both the performers and non-performers) what it takes to make some money in article marketing.

Once you have found your winning formula however, that's when you can really start trying to replicate the process and earn some money for months or even years to come.

The benefits of Writing Articles Quickly

While I have outlined the major indicators I look at in trying to make money by writing articles/ article marketing, I really can't stress enough the benefits of being able to write quickly.

When it comes to writing an article you are really trying to draw attention to your resource box. Where by the more articles you have in circulation the more exposure you'll be able to receive from these boxes and even your directory profile where you can be driving even more traffic to your product.

With writing quicker and maybe shorter articles will allow you to receive the benefits of having done the work. Long winded posts on article directories will often end up benefiting the owner of the directory more than you, because they are staying on their site longer.

So Good Luck,

I hope you enjoy some success with the knowledge you have just gained. Currently, the only thing stopping you is you! Not money, it's free. Not having a method/knowledge, it's here. All you have to do is Take Action! Just being able to write 2 articles a day (that's only 30minutes of your time) and you could be seeing 3, 4 or even 5 figure results from Article Marketing.

  • For people who really want to make passive income online: I recommend building a business and running it with article marketing being just one of the online content promotion plans of the business, than not building and running a business but instead just making article marketing a quick source of passive income. Because of this, I decided to share the things below...

Walk Around, Look Around, Look Closer then Check Stuff Out
Walk Around = Do market research. Analyze what trained researchers of the top global business and news companies have gathered and analyzed. Which industries do they predict to be the most profitable ones this year? Why? Which of those industries have buyer markets consisting of a lot of people who go online to view, find and buy content, products and services? Why? Which of those industries do not have large international corporate players who have built brand name recognition and loyalty over the years? Which of those industries have room for startup players planning to market content, products and services online? Why?
Look Around = Do online buyer market research and analysis. What do they need? What do they want? What are their problems? What is their buying power? What is the urgency of their needs, wants and problems? Where do they go online to get what they need and want? What do they do to get what they need and want? What do they do when they find what they need and want? What do they consider useful? What do they consider as reasonably priced? What do they consider as a secure, quick and convenient way to get what they need and want?
Look Closer = Do keyword and online competition research and analysis. What keywords do they use on popular search engines when they are trying to find more about things which can help them get what they need and want? What will they do if they find what they're looking for online? Where do they go online to talk to others who know a lot of things about the things they need and want? How strong and what level of brand name recognition and reputation as well as page strength in terms of search engine rankings and online site presence do the top websites for those keywords have? What did they do to achieve top search engine rankings for their keywords? Can you talk to some of them and offer things which can help their businesses while helping your own business grow and expand? Can you participate in some of them and establish the brand name reputation and recognition of your business and website so your target buyer markets will know that you are a friendly expert source of things which can help them get what they need and want? What's already out there which buyer markets find online to get what they need and want? What are the benefits lacking from the things that's already out there? What's already out there that can be sold for commissions? Can you add those lacking benefits into content, products and services you'll develop?
Check Stuff Out = PPT: People \ Process \ Technology
People = Who can help you make better things or choose better things (choose better things = affiliate marketing) which can help your online buyer markets get what they need and want? Who can help you effectively establish the brand name reputation and recognition of your website, content, products and services? Who can help you make more of your online buyer markets learn that you are a friendly expert source of things which can help them get what they need and want? Who can help you do things which you need to do yourself to better help your online buyer markets get what they need and want?
Process = What should be done and followed to organize, improve and grow your business of helping your online buyer markets get what they need and want? What should be done and followed to make things you and others helping you help more of your online buyer markets get what they need and want easier, faster, more secure and more convenient? What should be done and followed so your online buyer markets can talk about your business, recommend your business and become your repeat buyer markets, affiliate marketers and viral marketers?
Technology = What technology can grow, expand and improve your business of helping your online buyer markets get what they need and want? What technology can make your job and the jobs of others helping you grow, expand and improve your business of helping your online buyer markets get what they need and want?

    Action Plan
Build your business, workflow systems, monitoring systems, website, content, products, services, offline and online content promotion, marketing, sales and customer support plans using everything covered above. Include article marketing in your processes, under your online content marketing plan and your website online promotion plan. Implement those plans.
Keep in mind these pieces of advice:
Act: Do or do not. There is no try. - Yoda
Observe: All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered. The point is to discover them. - Galileo Galilei
Grow, Expand and Improve: Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. - Albert Einstein

When the "...write articles for others..." answer is interpreted the way you mentioned: People will make small amounts of money, yes...

Though when I got that same question, I gave the same answer. I was thinking I could:

Cold contact international corporations in the ICT (Information and Communications Technology) industry that constantly need content writing for their article marketing campaigns among other things they do...

Why? They need a service provider that can offer them high quality work output at inexpensive rates. I'm in the Philippines, so there are lots of proficient English content researchers and writers with extensive training and expertise in English comprehension and communications...

How did that happen? Only one class from preschool to graduate school use materials and lectures in our native language. The rest are in English. Also, most media outlets here primarily use English, 90% of the time.

A lot of those people are unemployed or underemployed. Disabled people here rarely find work. I am totally blind and active in the local disabled community back then with some of my friends who also have handicaps. My objective was to help these people help themselves then train them so they can start something on their own, all while helping me grow this concept. Of course, my own benefits are already included.

So that's what I did more than 5 years ago:

    1. Cold contacted an international corporation in the ICT industry.
    2. Offered my own content writing services.
Worked with them for more than 5 months while learning other stuff along the way, since I outsourced my content writing tasks to my friends and just do editing work on their completed tasks each day.
    3. Talked to them again after learning about their new product and let them know what I know about online content marketing and SEO/SEM.
    4. Also told them about the benefits their corporation could gain from outsourcing ICT tasks to the Philippines.
    5. Since they know that our current outsourced work arrangement has been working well for them, they hired me as their SEO/SEM, content marketing, offshore employee sourcing, training and management consultant.
    6. They asked me to hire 40 employees to do content development work, not just articles, and another group of 30 employees for content marketing work, mostly involving content writing, under my registered company, which I did not have at that time, so I registered one.
They asked me to train them so all leased employees could integrate my SEO/SEM strategies, which they approved, into their content development and online marketing tasks.
    7. I hired office managers, trainors and administrative personnel.
    8. Then, I hired more managers, trainors, administrative personnel and employees as well as subcontractors for other corporations they referred.

Result: That's why our company grew from 4 work at home moms and pops, including myself, my wife and 2 college buddies, to 90 employees and subcontractors, some of whom have disabilities, with 2 head offices and 9 provincial offices across the Philippines 3 months after company registration. Today, there are 4 provincial office managers who now own their own registered companies and offices. They have become our subcontractors. Right from the start, I implemented employee promotion systems, with the best office managers getting the chance to own their own registered companies and offices while continuing to work with us as our subcontractors, if they wanted to, via a loan program from us. Of course they should also implement our standards and workflow processes = Most likely a lot of them would do this correctly because they have learned the same standards and workflow processes while working as our office managers. They could find other clients if they wanted to. I call it a "Business in a Box" loan offer.

That's how "...writing for others to make passive income" has been working for me, how this has been the main income generator of a lot of families here and how this will enable my colleagues to start something which they own soon, for the past 5 years now. 2 years ago, I decided to extend our clientele reach to individual Internet marketers and startup businesses. That's why I'm back to building this other department of ours. Not because I can't outsource what I do to a set of employees, but since I enjoy what I do.

Yes, I agree. To add something for people who want to write for others to make money: A lot of corporations, businesses and individuals running home businesses know and need this, too.

Jackson, thank you for the long. detailed post. Regarding the above part, do you mean you link to the .info domain from your resource box, and the .info domain automatically redirects to the sales page of the product you are promoting?

When I read the guideline of two of the top directories, it wasn't clear to me whether this is allowed.

So far I haven't had any problems with this. However, what you can do is link to your .info and instead of masking your domain have something more about the product i.e. Title and something about the author/creator and then create a link on that page "click here" or some simple other call to action and link that, or even an opt-in for some freebie and then follow up emails linking to the product.

If your article gets rejected because of masking, create a small site with the info I just mentioned and then if you really want you can then edit your site after its been approved and simply make it a masked link.

Thank you, Jackson. Good to know that you haven't had any problems with that method.

I have a different site for a squeeze page with a free product giveaway in my own niche, but I also want to promote affiliate products with a different focus for faster cash. So that's why I asked about the ins and outs of directing readers to sales pages. I wonder if having to click on the .info page again before seeing the sales page (that's two clicks including the click in the resource box) might cause some of the readers to abandon it. I think I will try your first method, and see. If you happen to have any experience about how the 2 clicks might affect sales, it would be great to read. Thanks again for your response.

That's exactly right. I was meant to write about minimizing the number of clicks but I started talking about opt-ins instead.

On one hand, people might say the more times people have to click, the more committed to a future purpose they may be, but on the other hand trying to get them to a professionally designed and proven landing page ASAP also has its benefits.

Even though I've done many different combinations with different articles, I haven't done any testing to see if results change with the same article, but I might now.

I do agree that article writing can be boring after constantly trying to write articles. That's why I try and promote speed writing to make sure you don't spend too much time dwelling over one article. But yes, if you can afford it go for your life and outsource.

But for those who want to make money without spending much, manual writing is often the only way to go.

Yes, those were my thoughts.. I would think the level of commitment that can be expected from people before seeing the sales page also depends on the niche.

Would love to hear about your test results if you decide to do it.

What is most amazing to me is that it does not matter how many posts I see that are nearly the same as this one there are still new article marketers that will not follow it and just won't do it. What is even more amazing to me is that some of them still think it only takes one or two articles to see results.

It took me nearly 100 articles before I ever saw any good results and that was back before video marketing started to take over the internet.

If you are new and you follow what has been posted here you will succeed, but you have to put the work in or you will always fail.

If you hate writing or find that it is not something you are good at, then you can hire someone to write for you and all you have to do is submit the articles all over the place and build traffic up to your website.

Good article Jackson. Just one question. Is there an affiliate network that you tend to have most success with or use most often with this strategy. Clickbank perhaps? And do you tend to go with digital or physical products or both?

Good tips but still missing some info about how to make it all work, which sites to place articles on to build an army of sites that will be making you sales well into the future. Sorry but you don't provide enough pieces to the puzzle to make it to $1000 a day. Kind of a crazy hype to your article.

Great post op! If I can just leap in here, EZA allows you to link to a domain in your resource box that then redirects to an affiliate link (heck, it can be an Amazon link if you want). We're not talking about masking, just a straight 301 redirect done in the .htaccess file or even easier, in your cPanel. This is quite clearly stated in their TOS, I've done it. Only limitation is then you need a new domain for each niche or affiliate link.

Haha, thanks for clearing that up, haven't really read their TOS for a while, was happy thinking I was being "sneaky" but obviously not.

Jackson, you've provided some really good tips for succeeding with article marketing. Of course, no one is disputing the fact that article marketing will ultimately yield far more than writing articles for others.

However, the big difference is in how fast the money starts flowing in. With article marketing, especially if you're just starting out, the unpredictability of when you'll first start receiving sales/commissions can be off-putting to many. Furthermore the delay between seeing a commission and actually getting it in your hands can be considerable, especially for a newbie who is only getting a small trickle of sales and has to wait for that first commission check from Clickbank (with its TOS regarding commissions, sometimes it may take quite a while for a new Clickbank account to actually pay out, depending on how rapidly you make sales).

Writing articles for others brings much faster cash, and for many entering internet marketing, they cannot afford to wait months for that first check to arrive - it can be discouraging and cause them to give up prematurely.

It wouldn't be a bad idea for a beginner to employ a hybrid model, and write a certain number of articles for others in addition to doing article marketing. This way, they can pick up some fast cash while also building a long-term business on the internet.

      Thanks Paul,

Very valid points and thanks for bringing up. Yes, if you are considering quitting your day job before you have started making money and want to do it all through Article Marketing, you need to consider the cash flow you will be receiving (or rather the cash you won't recieve until a later date)

There is no point trying to re-invent the wheel. There are already numerous places you can go to find article titles or ideas for article titles that have already proven successful. This way you have a much greater chance of getting a good number of views to all of your articles.

        1. Go to sites such as digg.com and search your keywords. Look for content that has been shared the most amount of times that also include your keywords. This will give you an idea of what things are popular in your niche.

        2. Go to various forums in your niche and take a look at which threads have had the most activity. The thread titles will give you some great ideas for your article titles.

        3. Go to Google and search something like:

keyword site:ezinearticles.com "Article Submitted On: * *, 2008..2010" "This article has been viewed 1500..1000000"

Simply replace 'keyword' with the main keyword of your niche. For example if I were in the poker niche I would search

poker site:ezinearticles.com "Article Submitted On: * *, 2008..2010" "This article has been viewed 1500..1000000"

Once the Google results come up you will instantly be able to see the number of views each ezine article containing your keywords has had and the date it was submitted. You can see both these things straight from the Google results. You can sift through and find articles that have had the best number of views for the time they have been online. This will give you plenty of ideas on what sort of articles will be of interest to your niche. Obviously don't copy the article titles you find exactly word for word but you can remodel them very easily or even add a new twist.

        Hope that helps!

You're welcome, Jackson. Typically the newbies coming in here are asking for advice on how to make fast cash, and this is why article writing (as opposed to article marketing) is so commonly recommended as a solution.

For those who are reading this and desire to build a long term business on the internet, what I'd recommend is a hybrid business model where you write some articles as a means of making quick and fairly consistent money, and also work on article marketing for longer-term, residual commission payments.

Great outline of the tried and true strategy. it is so easy to be distracted by the latest fad in IM, twitfacetubelocalarbimass but often it is the simple that is the best. Key point is consistency, working long and hard to get the volume out there. Then you can outsource.

Excellent post, packed with tips, I have only just started Article Marketing, trying to submit at least one new article a day, because right now it takes me a while to write them but...., I am getting faster so I should be up to two a day in no time.

I have tried various article directories and by far eza is giving me the most views, with the others kinda fighting it out amongst themselves.

      Hey Jackson Riddle.
Awesome post, great info for anyone that wants to earn some money.

I have a question if you don't mind. Ezine articles only allow one account per human. So if I were to write across several niches, all the articles would show on my profile/expert author page.
Would you use different pen names for each niche, if you did would they all show under your profile page.
I am a blogger, so we struggle with complicated stuff like this.

      Thanks

@Jackson - that is a great share on article marketing. I used to really hate writing but I have found my own system which is to type in the keyword into google, open up the top ten pages, read them, make some headlines.

Then I open up Dragon and talk around those headlines. I can create several versions really quickly like this.

That's great. When it comes to article marketing you need to find a system that works for you, and build on it. This can only be done if you actually go out there and give it a go, so well done.

$1000 a month using article marketing alone is taking longer and longer as so many people do the same thing and focus and the same niches or click-bank products.

I have found some crazy results with using the lower level (lower gravity ) products or directing people to my free reports.

Recently started doing direct links to pdf with no opt-in page and selling them on getting free newsletter.

What has happened is I can then send people to CPA offers, to a blog post (increased my adsense), all while building trust and offering affiliate offers.

Maybe I shouldn't add this but setting up a PLR with a small $10 deal that direct pays me through paypal has been covering 90% of my costs. I just starting doing this instead of paying to change the PLR and charge more and instead of spending money on a new looking same product the small sale are now pure profit.

Goes against conventional WSO wisdom but I did it once being "lazy" and had results and after checking discovered without the extra expense of changing the PLR it equaled profit instead of loss or barely breaking even.

I still believe in upgrading pLR if your charging higher monies but so far the $10 or less deal is flying off the shelf call me nuts but stretching article marketing with this makes it worth a bit more :-)

Yes, this can work and I have done it myself.

The reason I tend to advise promoting high gravity products is that you know there is a market for it, and you don't want to spend time in areas where there are no buyers.

For people just starting out in article marketing, I'd also suggest staying away from IM products, at least initially. The IM crowd can be a jaded bunch that might be a little hard to sell to unless you have a decent landing page in addition to an article with a strong call to action, so in my opinion it'd be best for newbies to avoid this niche when they're just beginning with their article marketing.

It is entirely possible, but if you're going to go the Amazon route I'd suggest fairly expensive products ($150-$200 and up) in order to make it worth your while, given the much smaller commissions paid out on physical products.

              Okay thank you, Sifu!

Anyway, in case you missed out my previous post, hope you can help me out with this..

About 2 months, i built some niche blogs, and wrote some articles and published them to EZA. I now have 14 articles on EZA. Mainly I did those articles just for backlinks, just needed few to rank my micro niche sites.. Now, after reading this post, I became quite interested in article marketing.. So I just logged in EZA only to find that my articles views had a whopping 750+ views which really impressed me. (I don't know if it does to you guys anyway, maybe I'm just overreacting )

So, I saw URL clicks tab, it only had a 7 total clicks. Actually, I'm not quite sure about what URL clicks means. Would really appreciate if anyone could brief me a little about this. Also, Ezine Publisher I had 6..

Okay now, I was thinking, how would I start article marketing? I already have proof that it really gets some decent amount of traffic by looking at the number of views. But then, I was thinking of monetizing this. Of course I wouldn't just stick to the 14 articles, but I will add more since I realized this fact. Anyway, I'm not sure whether I should create a site and direct it through my author resource box, or just use my affiliate links. As for affiliate links, I know it its against TOS but I think domain masking or URL forwarding is allowed. Thus, I would perhaps just buy 1 domain, and for every different affiliate product that I am promoting, I use a subdomain for forwarding. Would that be okay? Really need your opinions guys.

Anyway, sorry for all the long paragraphs.

              Regards, Kevin.

This rings more true with Amazon Associates US, I think. With Amazon Associates UK (through which I promote a lot of products), there is quite a low commissions cap.

Michael, I am recently finding this out for myself. It sounds to me like Amazon marketers in the UK are at somewhat of a disadvantage because of the significantly lower commissions.

                  Correct again, Paul.

It bugs me quite a bit, because I discovered some time ago that ranking in Google's UK index is often much easier, due to less competition. Even many UK-based marketers/SEO'ers seem to focus the majority of their efforts on the American market / Google's US index. (Much to their mistake, I think, as so many people neglect to narrow-down search-volume by region - assuming that the US must always command the vast majority of all English-language keyword searches - and if they did just this, they'd discover that it's sometimes actually other countries (UK, Canada, Australia, etc), and yet the SEO competition there is much, much weaker.)

If it wasn't for the commissions cap, SEO + Amazon UK would be something really special (not that it's bad - but it could be a lot better ).

That's not to say it can't still be profitable in the UK though, as the offsetting factor here is the ability to rank much easier in Google UK than it would with Google US. A fellow Warrior in the UK (Craig Kaye) seems to have been making an absolute killing with Amazon over the last few years, so even with the low commissions there's still hope for you over there.

This is especially true for local search terms in the UK, as I've been finding out that it's absolute child's play to rank for many local terms there that would be heavily targeted in the US.

You can write articles in 15 minutes or less.

All you need is a system that you follow with each article and stick with that format with every article you write. If they are in similar niches, your research time will also be low especially if you already know a bit from writing articles already.

Trust me, it can be done.

I have had success with Amazon products. Probably the hardest thing though with Amazon is that the cookie only lasts for 24hours, so no purchase within 24hours = no money.

However, from my experience the "trust" factor of physical products from Amazon is great and I wouldn't be surprised if you got some sales.

I tend to do more review style articles than "hype" articles when trying to sell Amazon products as the visitor will generally have a good idea of what they want and you just need to direct them to Amazon and hope that they find something they like.

So yes, Amazon can be done (but remember 24Hour Cookie)

I use a combination of both. I think it's important to try both, see what works and what doesn't and then work more on what works. And when you are happy with the system you have, try and take that knowledge into other areas and not just limit yourself to one niche or method.

That said, if you know you haven't done anything properly or don't see hundreds of dollars in commissions everyday as soon as you start, don't give up because the benefits may come soon.

            All great ideas!

I love writing how-to articles and seeing them approved at ezinearticles. And I turn them out in minutes by using a short introduction, four or five items in the body of the article and a short conclusion summing up my key points. Then I look at my working title and edit it. The revised version is usually much better over the old.

I can write about three or four articles in a half hour.

              Nice well done

Glad to find a system you found works, now stick with it (tweaking it now and then) and you'll do well!

Thanks for the advise. I have written some articles and am now getting ready to submit them. My main question is setting up the resource box. i am a little confused on that.

Jackson firstly, I would like to say thanks for enlightening up. I've got some question hope you can help me out

    Nice article!

I must admit that I've tried to stick to a schedule (and failed miserably at the overwhelming tasks of IM) so I can continue to pump out material. Fortunately, I did most of my writing in Oct and Nov. I can't believe people are reading them!

And press releases? That may be the most overlooked, undervalued IM tool going. They really compliment an article. The headline is so important...I think I'll go back this week and post some of my old articles on other directories with different headlines and see how that goes.

The link of great joy and happiness...but this one? This is the one that all window cleaning companies in the free world are inspired by. Hey, where did the sarcasm font go?

Press Releases are just like good articles.

If you write a decent enough article, it will be syndicated across a large number of networks just like a press release.

I think Press Releases can have even greater impact than regular articles, since they're generally longer and also because people tend to give them more credence. The only caveat is that they only work well in certain scenarios, and may not be as versatile as articles in being able to cover many topics and niches.

    Great information on article marketing!

I would also advice to start listbuilding. Send all your traffic from your article to your squeeze page. Offer something for free of good value, exchange for email.

I couldn`t agree more that the most important aspects of an article is the title and then the signature box.

It really depends on the product you are promoting i.e. physical or downloadable.

However, maybe collecting a list of Amazon buyers could be good as well.

      Yes, yes it does.

I would have to say it's probably one of my more stable earners and the one with the least refund rates.

        Thanks.

I wasn't sure if I should promote products on there. I've seen some I like but I still wasn't sure, but I probably will now.

Remember to always chose products that already have some good reviews as well as a decent number of 4 or 5 star ratings.

Ok, should I usually find a product to promote first, and then the keyword that will correlate to that product, or should I do it the other way around?

Okay, so that I understand fully... say that I wanted to promote a universal remote from amazon and I purchased a domain name (.info, .com.,net., org) with the intention of building a website around this remote.

Could I write an article about that particular universal remote and just have my domain forwarded over to my affiliate link at amazon? So, when the reader clicks my link, they will go straight to the product page on Amazon? I think I did this before with Clickbank products, but I wanted to be sure I understood what you were talking about, JacksonRiddle.

While you could do this, it'd be far more effective if you actually built a landing page around that domain name which pre-sells the product. You'll get far better conversions doing this rather than direct-linking straight to the Amazon product page.

I think article marketing is a great way to make money. However, it can be very time consuming especially if you don't outsource it. There is also no guarantee that you will make money, which is why a lot of people don't do it. If they knew for sure that they were going to make money, then more people would be doing it. It's the best free traffic source in my opinion, but it takes dedication.

Yeah you can make a lot of money.

      But it won't happen overnight.

You need to get your tails off or work hard in order to get what you want.

Yes, you can outsource, but a lot of people go into Article Marketing money to try and not spend too much money but still make some.

As you pointed out correctly, some articles don't make money which is just the way articles work. Once you have an article that works, try and find out if it's the style, headline, resource box, format or niche that is making it work and then keep putting your resources into making money with that system until you can find something that works better.

    Thank you for the tips.
I'm going to write an article right now and see how it goes. I will try to get 8-12 readers per day in the first week.
I will update in a month the conclusion

Hmm..writing articles for others is still a good start as this will let you practice your writing skills with a fee. The money you will earn can be spent for campaigns that will require you to write your own articles.

The problem I find with writing articles for others (besides the pay) is that if they are unfamiliar with your writing style (while it may be good in your eyes and others) then they'll ask you to revise it which just means you'll be spending more time on the same thing without being payed more.
