I understand the concept of a landing page and I have my articles set up where they go to a "review page". What I am unsure about is where to send people from my blog? I have been leaving links to my free blog on forums in my niche and from the blog I have them going straight to the affiliate page. Is this what I should be doing or should the people on the blog also go to the landing page? Thanks for the advice. I hope this question makes sense?!

Just because people coming from within the blog are Your Friends, while article links are bring Strangers to your landing page, a different tone is probably appropriate, using a softer sell incidental mention of affiliate links with your friends.

Bear in mind some subjects may be more suited for the long sell, might be best sending those articles to a mail list opt-in squeeze page.

Hi Brit - That's a common question... and like I always say if you ask 9 affiliate marketers you'll probably get 9 different answers. There are just way too many variables for it to be a clear cut "yes or no" kind of thing.

It will vary depending on your niche, the sale price, is it a free offer, is it a squeeze funnel... what type of traffic, targetted or untargetted paid? free? social? email list? SEO?

I think that you have the main part down and that is that direct linking just doesnt work like it used to so you have to use a landing page. In the case of the blog I would put an optin form right in the post your driving traffic to and offer them a freebie that is congruent with the subject matter of the forum you brought them from. Then you can sell them over time through an email sequence. This method has worked well for me in building a strong list of rerpeat buyers

That is just one option. I made a video about this at affiliatepromoformula.info

    Best wishes,
    Omar

Thanks, I do have an opt in on my blog and on the landing page. I am using a free autoresponder until I feel like I can afford aweber. It does not really work, so I am sending the emails by hand right now. I am promoting a couple clickbank products, both are about $40. Any more advice? Thanks again.

      This!

I say it also depends on the kind of offer/product you're promoting. The best thing to do is split test and see which way proves to convert better for you.

Sending your free traffic to an affiliate link is what all product owners dream of.

I would strongly recommend that you start putting a listbuilding aspect into your traffic plan. Create a report suited to your niche and add some opt-in forms to your site.

Initially this will cost you money, as autoresponders and the superb digilist wordpress plug-in aren't free, but if you set up a good funnel then it'll soon be making sales.
